Basic Information

Race: Akalak
Birthday & Age : Season of Winter, Day 1, 481 AV: 30yrs Old
Gender: Male

Physical Description
Standing at six feet, nine inches, and weighing almost 300lbs of solid muscle, Tetharion is a prime example of the Akalak people. He is a bit of a rarity, a unique individual amongst unique individuals; appearance wise anyway. His skin is none of the usual range of blue tones, but a deep, entrancing red. He suffers from a rare disorder known as heterochromia, which is essentially a differential coloring scheme, usually of the eyes.

His right is a pale reddish-pink, while his left is a soft glowing golden color. Another oddity is that Tetharion wears his hair in dreadlocks cascading down and around his shoulders; his reason for this is something of a badge of honor. Anytime he suffers a defeat in battle, he removes one lock for the loss, and one for his superior opponent.

As the Akalak are a warrior people, Tetharion puts utility and comfort above all else when it comes to a dress code; simple yet sturdy clothes that can flow with him in battle, armor that protects without being a hindrance, things of that nature.

Another mark he wears with pride is a scar over his left eye that he received during the Glassbeak Hunt; the injury nearly cost him the use of the eye, but after having it healed, he chose to let the scar remain as a constant reminder of his oaths and vows to the Riverfall Lord.

Character Concept
Tetharion like all Akalak keeps a tight reign on his emotions, as a failure to do so might let his less reputable half have more freedom than he would like, or allow. That's not to say he's a slab of stone, but he does keep in mind what could happen if he got too angry, so all shows of emotion are carefully monitored.

Does he smile, of course, does he laugh, sure; but don't expect to see it all the time unless you get close enough to understand him. Although in battle is one of the few times he enjoys himself and let's it all hang loose.

He lives for a good fight, and he'll indulge anyone who wants one.....although whether they live or die is dependent on their behavior once the battle is done. He is also a man who follows the tenants of Wysar to a fault, moreso than many of his brethren. Conviction, Integrity, and Discipline are more than just tenants to follow, they are his way of life.

He must maintain self control, he must not allow himself or his values to be corrupted, he must always strive to make the most honorable decision possible, etc... His loyalties are to his patron deity Wysar first and foremost; his family and people come second, himself last.

Like any mortal, many of his personality traits and behavioral patterns are as much strength as they are weakness. First and foremost is the concept of honor; he knows that not everyone is honorable, but sometimes he sees it in people when it's not there. As old habits die hard, he tends to push himself to and sometimes past the point of exhaustion more times than not; this of course can be disastrous if he or anyone he's traveling with are taken off guard after a battle. And there's always the risk of his darker half manifesting should he lose control of it's leash.

Character History

Tetharion Alarias was born simply Tetharion to a Konti mother and a father named Tethashir; like most, he was primarily r aised by his father and other family members, although he saw his mother almost as often. From childhood the basic ways of Akalak life were instilled in him, and he absorbed the knowledge and lifestyle like a sponge.Truthfully his family were a bit more...extreme in their beliefs than many families, but young Teth thought nothing of it since he was raised that way.

He was encouraged to push himself everyday until simply moving was sheer agony to prove his conviction, he was expected to take scheduled and almost brutal beatings in silence while keeping his attention on other matters to show his discipline; given constant conflicting choices to a difficult situation, choices whose difference between the right one and wrong one was nearly indistinguishable from the other. Even when his darker self manifested, he managed to keep it under control after a bit of a failed rampage during one of the beatings. The threat of it getting out was constantly there, but between his own personal struggles and the support of his family, the situation was handled.

Constantly being pushed to his limits by his family, made him want to push himself beyond. He trained harder than anyone else in his age group, ran further, took longer with lessons not because he didn't understand, but because he wanted to know everything he could. Tetharion wanted to be the best; not to be the best.....but to prove to himself that he could do anything he put his mind to, anything he put his body to. When it came time for the Glassbeak Hunt, he didn't pay attention to the whispers that said he would be successful; he only prayed to Wysar that he and his companions would be victorious in the hunt. What made things better was that his three partners were childhood friends who he worked very well with; Lordrial, Armodias, and Veneris.

Their most skilled tracker Lordrial found evidence of one of the beasts early into the expedition, and after three days of non stop hunting, the group of four found him. The creature was old, large and the many gnarled battle scars showed it was a victor of many battles.....it would be a glorious fight, and the honor and prestige they brought their families would be immense. It took a while, but they finally lured their prey into a trap where escape would only be possible by getting by them; they were a highly trained unit though, who had been raised together like brothers...so the odds of that happening in their minds wasn't very high.

The battle shouldn't have been long or hard, but the future was unforseen, and they were taken off guard by the arrival of the Glassbeak's companions. It was three against four, but three Glassbeak's against four youthful Akalak weren't good odds; for which side though he couldn't be sure to a small bit of delight. In his growing excitement, Armodias unsheathed his Lakan and a stray beam of sunlight caused a glint that got the monster birds attention. They'd been discovered, so caution was thrown to the wind and they charged their prey. The fight was long and hard, almost four hours they chased and fought the lightning fast creatures.

Before they took the first one down, Veneris lost his footing in a concealed nest and hurt his ankle; he was working to free it while Armodias and Lordrial were busy with their own Glassbeaks. That was when Tetharion got his scar; he put himself between his friend and the wicked downward swinging talon headed for him. He deflected the blow and injured the creatures foot, but a claw trailed a deep furrow from his forehead to a bit under his cheekbone. With him nearly blind in one eye and Lordrial barely able to put pressure on his foot, they shouldn't have been able to survive much less emerge victorious; the Akalak were known for beating the odds though, and somehow they managed to kill the creatures and get them home.

While the feasts were being prepared, Teth and Veneris were told to go to the healers. The healing process would take a while, but they were both in no danger and were allowed to return home. After the feast, they all announced their chosen profession, and it was no surprise that Tetharion wanted to become a Battle Master. For the next 15 years, he continued to live and train as he always had, even earning the mark of Wysar after warning the city of a wildfire that would have spelled disaster for them without his early warning. After his successful Zith hunt, he decided to travel and see the world as it was. He vowed to return, but everyone knew he'd be gone for a long while aside from periodical visits from time to time. His grand adventure has only just begun, and there is so much for him to experience....he can't wait.
