Out of the Way! (Alenias)

29 Spring, 511 AV

Aello was standing in a narrow alleyway, the sun blocked on either side by tall wooden buildings. The air that surrounded her was warm, and Yune was resting atop one of them. Aello's bag, and her bow were resting against the far wall, and now she was simply waiting for Alenias to prepare herself.

Aello was holding her cursed blade in her right hand. The blood seemed to sink into the blade as the girl simply smiled, eyeing the Kelvic wearily. "Ok Alenias, are you ready?" she asked. "For, as you more than likely already know, you will not always be fighting people who are unarmed, like yourself. Thus, you will need to learn how to defend against their attacks, and on occasion, attack them as well."

There was a slight pause as Aello considered her next few words, "this blade," Aello began as she lifted it only slightly, "will begin by coming at you slowly. But as you learn to stay out of its way, it will begin to move faster and faster. As should you." There was another slight pause, before Aello continued, "begin by simply dodging if you have to, and then see if you can block it with your hands or arms. Then try to block, and then attack your opponent, ok Alenias?" Aello asked. "Can you handle that?" Although she never said it, Aello knew that their training would be much like yesterday. She would study the Kelvic's aura from time to time, and if the girl seemed to be over-exerting herself, Aello would be sure that the session stopped.

OOCSorry this is a blah first post. Also note, Aello would never hurt your pc. So... don't cower in fear or anything.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Alenias on May 2nd, 2011, 2:18 pm

Alenias happily returned Aello's smile as she brought up her left hand and made a fist, like Aello had taught her yesterday, but made sure to keep her right arm down to her side, "Ready Aello," she replied brightly, all full of eagerness and excitement.

Alenias was silent as she listened to Aello's instructions, nodding a couple times through out. She could certainly understand getting out of a way of a dagger, they hurt A LOT, and it if had been anyone else taking about attacking her with a dagger she would have been nervous. Not Aello though, Alenias knew Aello would never hurt her.

There was one little bit that confused Alenias though, and for a few moments after Aello's last question she thought about it, trying to figure it out for herself. She just couldn't though, and so finally asked, "How do I block your dagger with my hand or arm Aello? Won't it cut me then?" even with that question she wasn't scared, just a little confused, as she trusted Aello with her life, and would do anything for her.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Aello on May 2nd, 2011, 7:16 pm

"If you accidently run into it, as opposed to block it, or get out of the way, yes," Aello replied. "For instance, just watch," Aello said, as she lifted her blade a little higher. She was holding it tightly, the blade pointed towards her. As she extended her right arm, in a wide arc, the blade shot around, slowly, twisting towards Alenias. "This is something you've probably seen a lot with people who chose the knife or the dagger as their weapon, right?" Aello inquired. "They slice in small arcs, circles, to extend the reach of their weapon, it seems." There was a slight pause, as Aello considered her next set of words.

"Now, as you may already know, there are a number of things you could do in this situation," Aello explained. "The first option is to dodge by stepping out of the way. You may step back, or to the left or the right, and then go from there. You may also duck, although this may limit your next set of options." There is a slight pause, "unless of course, you tried to tackle your opponent or something, although, you may have little momentum still built up, which would make it difficult to do so, don't you think?" Aello took a deep breath, giving her a moment to figure out how to explain the last of her thoughts. "Now, if the arm is coming towards you like this," Aello said, as she pulled her arm back, and then repeated the circular motion, "there is a chance that you could push the arm away, if you timed everything well. You see Alenias, if you brought your arm up, and pushed it into the middle of your attacker's arm, you could, at least in theory, deflect the attack."

"But, you probably shouldn't try that until you're a little more experienced. Even though we are only practicing, and we are working slowly, there is still a risk that you'll hurt yourself, isn't there?" Aello asked, as she pulled her arm back to her side, and allowed it to fall. It had been hovering in the air before, and to Aello, it had seemed very out of place. This whole thing seemed very out of place. Should she really be teaching Alenias, after all? With her arm being injured, and Aello's own lack of knowledge when it came to hand to hand combat? Of course, she could use her common sense, her instincts. She could always describe what she would try should she be found without her bow or her cursed blade. But how far could such a thing truly get either of them? How worthy was she to teach the Kelvic? Should she find someone else to do it?

There is no one in this city worth trusting with such a task, Aello thought to herself as she shook her head lightly. Her long brown hair trickled into the sides of her face, tumbling over her shoulders, and tickling her skin. She shouldn't think like that. She shouldn't think that she was not enough... there were other things she was more suited to teach, of course. But that didn't mean she shouldn't try to help Alenias. After all, the Kelvic's motives were pure, and she deserved Aello's help; a teacher, and someone who would look after her to the best of her ability.

Reluctantly, Aello bent her arms at the elbows, and crouched a little. Her muscles were tense, and she looked ready to spring into action. "Alright, we're going to try this for real now. Practice whatever makes you feel most comfortable, at least at first, and when you are ready, we can move onto something else. After all, the day is still young, and we have plenty of time," Aello said. "Now here goes," Aello added, as she slowly inched her arm out towards Alenias. It swung in an awkward, wide arc, the blade twirling out to the side as Aello's hands moved.

If Aello had been moving faster, she may have sliced the bottom of the girl's chin. But her advance was slow, and it would be nearly impossible for Alenias not to dodge.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Alenias on May 3rd, 2011, 1:16 pm

Alenias was quiet as Aello spoke, listening intently to every word the woman said. She had to make sure to learn all of this well so she could help Aello next time something bad happened. She nodded as Aello talked about dodging, and possibly blocking the knife. She'd have to try the knife blocking part some time, because that way she could protect herself or Aello.

"Don't worry Aello, I'll be careful," Alenias replied to Aello's concern about her getting hurt with a bright smile, "I won't use my hurt arm or anything."

For a little moment something seemed to bother Aello, and Alenias shifted uncomfortably. She knew something was wrong with Aello, but she didn't know what to do. Before she could figure anything out Aello gave a shake of her head and seemed to get a little better. Giving a small nod in response to Aello's starting of the training Alenias focused on Aello's knife, watching as it moved. As Aello started to swing it around Alenias took a quick hop backwards, and watched as the blade passed well in front of her. All the while she kept her right arm tightly against her side, just as she had done the other day.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Aello on May 4th, 2011, 12:41 am

Aello smiled, "of course you won't," she whispered before adding, "just keep it up. Don't let the blade slice your skin," as she stepped forward with her left foot, and swung her right arm back around, in the direction it had come. It was moving a little faster now, coming back to the right shoulder. Alenias should be able to dodge this easily, Aello thought, and perhaps counter it if she feels comfortable.

As soon as Alenias had reacted to her latest attack, Aello would begin on another, slightly faster one. She would begin by stepping forward with her right leg, and bending it lightly at the knee as soon as her foot had pressed back down on the ground. Her left leg would be a foot and a half behind the right, and her right arm would shoot forward, while the blade twisted out and to the side, towards Alenias. The advance was essentially a lunge in poor form, performed with a blade that had too short a reach. A blade that had not yet been mastered by the one who wielded it.

You know, if you were fighting anyone else, they would have killed you a long, long time ago, the right side of Aello's brain whispered as she waited for Alenias to get out of the way. Well then, it's a good thing she is not fighting anyone else, the left replied.

OOCSorry this post is so short, and awkwardly worded, I just wanted to make sure you had something to reply to!

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Alenias on May 4th, 2011, 3:22 pm

The first attack from Aello had been so easy to dodge, and this one was looking easy to. So Alenias decided to try and block it, like Aello had said. She brought her left hand down quickly, stopping Aello's arm with the palm of her hand.

Smiling widely at the success of her blocking Alenias readied herself for Aello's next attack, but was caught off guard by it being different than the others. For a moment she froze, unsure what to do, and then at the last moment she hopped to the side as the dagger just barely missed her.

Her smile was gone, but Alenias wasn't nervous. Her face just showed determination as she watched for Aello's next attack. She needed to get better, be able to block and attack back. She'd probably have to kick to attack, but first she'd have to block Aello's next attack. Holding her left hand out and at the ready to try and block again she waited and watched quietly.

OOCNo worries, a lot of combat posts tend to be shorter anyways, since ya don't wanna go to far ahead. :)

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Aello on May 4th, 2011, 4:07 pm

"Careful Alenias, do not allow attacks that you are not used to, or have not seen before distract or scare you," Aello commented as she pulled her right arm back along with her right leg, so that she wouldn't be quite so unbalanced. When her body was slightly more straightened out, and once again ready to spring into action, she finished her thought. "It is in this way that people tend to freeze, and find themselves in trouble. Whether it be because their assailant has managed to wound them, or kill them."

"Now, try again. Try not to wait until the last second," Aello instructed as she took a small step forward with her left foot, and then a large one with her right. "To dodge," she added, as she extended her right arm forward, and leaned a bit into her right leg, performing her second lunge of the day. Her eyes were locked on Alenias, and within a few seconds, a deep red aura, much like the color of red wine, came into view. The mist hung around the Kelvic like a shroud, swirling in every which direction like smoke. The aura seemed to pulse from time to time, popping out at Aello as it swirled in every which direction. She is trying very hard to impress you, but she is grounded, unafraid. She is still uncertain of how to move her body at times, but she is willing to learn. Aello found it odd that an aura could say so much with only one color, usually yellows played into the desire to learn, but now that she really took the time to look, she noticed small flecks of yellow scattered here and there.

A few seconds later, Aello blinked, and her concentration broke. The Kelvic's aura faded away, leaving Aello with dilated pupils. She hadn't moved since her last attack, and was beginning to wonder just how much time had passed, and if she should begin another attack for Alenias to dodge, before the Kelvic started worrying about her again.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Alenias gave a quick nod to Aello's instruction, "Yes Aello," she replied, keeping her eyes on Aello's dagger.

She wasn't sure exactly how to not to be scared or distracted by things she hadn't seen before, but she would do her best. As Aello moved forward again Alenias focused everything she had on the dagger, and she brought her left hand down to push against Aello's arm so the dagger was pushed down and away, missing Aelnias' body like she had dodged. She need to attack back now, and so she swung her leg out and around in a kick... and was stopped in her movement as her foot collided with the wall of the nearby building.

"Owie!" Alenias cried out at the bit of pain that came from the kick at the building, and she fell backwards onto her bottom as she cradled her foot in her hands.

Realizing she had been hurt she turned wide, tearful eyes up to Aello, "I'm sorry Aello, I didn't mean to get hurt. It's just a little hurt, we can keep practicing, and I'll be more careful next time," there was just a touch of panic to her voice.

She didn't want to stop learning now, she had so much more she needed to learn so she could help Aello the next time something bad happened.

Out of the Way! (Alenias)

Postby Aello on May 6th, 2011, 2:08 am

Instantly, Aello returned her cursed blade to its hiding spot. "Are you sure Alenias?" Aello inquired, as she knelt down beside the Kelvic. "Although you were not using as much force as you could have, it will more than likely be enough to make your skin red. To make it sting, if not bruise over by the end of the day." Aello was eyeing Alenias nervously, she knew that learning how to fight was something the Kelvic really wanted to do, but whether or not now was the proper time to teach her was another story.

Aello bit her bottom lip as she straightened herself up, for once she felt so much taller than the girl. She extended her right hand, palm facing up. "Take it if you need it," Aello instructed, "and if you can stand without leaning too heavily on your foot, we can continue with the lesson," she added. "But should you limp, or find yourself in too much pain, then we shall stop. After all, there is always tomorrow." After all the words had left her lips, Aello fell silent. Now was a time for her to watch, and wait. If the girl so much as winced, they were stopping. Perhaps then, Aello would finally have the time to sharpen her blade.

Alenias glanced down at her foot as Aello spoke, and sure enough the skin was red, even scraped and bleeding a little, and it definitely did sting. Most of it was on the top of her foot though, and so she was pretty sure she could still stand.

Carefully she stood up, not taking Aello's hand as she didn't need it, and she smiled brightly as she stood on both feet, "It only stings a little Aello, I think I can keep learning. Please can we keep going? I was getting better, wasn't I?"

She really hoped Aello would let her keep learning, but it was up to the woman in the end. If Aello said no more, then Alenias would accept it, and they would just train later.
