Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

Crashing (Angelique)

Postby Serrif Von Chatlyn on May 24th, 2011, 1:34 am

For moments it was like there was literally none there. Only him and the ocean. His eyes drifted looking out to the endless ocean. And just like that thoughts filled his head instantly. Even in this serenity he started to feel off. His could feel the tremors coming again. They started deep and then began to gently creep to his hands. He closed his eyes and focused some more trying to shake them off…but they wouldn’t. He swallowed shallow at first, then they came on a little harder. It was a good thing she was absent or she may mistake this for him going into shock or something. He cringed some as the sickness came on stringer. It was sad really. All this time and still he hadn’t really found much in the way of cure nor reason for why this happened. It lasted a few seconds though…but they felt like hours. Searing pain shot down his spine then hit bottom and shot back up. Just when he thought it was all over his hands still shook some more violently.

He now slowly tried to gain his composure. He closed his eyes harder and then figured if he sat down it would help some. He swallowed again but this time harder. What was going on? About the time that Angelique started to head back he was beginning to gain a hold on the pain and sickness. He had his hands gripping his elbows and his arms crossed. This helped hide the shaking. She offered him a grapefruit about now. He nodded and held out a hand to her. The battle raged on. She would see that his hand wasn’t completely steady but that could be attributed to almost anything.

“Thanks, I haven’t gone looking for food yet.” He took a seat next to her and pondered a correct response to her next question.

Was he alone? How did one define alone? He ran a free hand through his hair as he took a deep breath. He felt like vomiting. But instead he spoke gently to her; quietly as if it was really a secret what he was about to share with her. Like a child when they motion and gently whisper into the ear of their playmate. But this was different; the tone was different. There was sincerity in his voice.

“All alone, I left my past life behind. And there is little beside scars to remind me of it anymore. That and the sickness.”

He rolled the grapefruit around in his hand and examined it. He wondered how he should go about eating it. But really he was more trying to buy himself time before she answered him. Would she be brutally honest as well? It didn’t matter to him. He felt alone, even in a place where so many considered him exotic. He laughed at this idea internally. He was far from exotic.

meets it head-on and licks it,
or he turns his back on it and starts to wither away.

As Serrif took the grapefruit from her, she noticed that his hand was a bit shaky. Angelique decided it would probably be best if she did not ask about what was wrong with him, after all she had just met him. She believed that if he wanted her to know he would possibly tell her when he was ready to do so. As she sat on the shore at the beach, she pulled out her eating knife and began to cut her fruit in half, making a slice in it which went all the way around. The Konti gave the male a nod. “You’re welcome.” She said before peeling the Rhine off of the fruit.

As he spoke about leaving his past life behind him, the scars and sickness her facial features turned to more of a concerned expression. For only knowing him a short time, the woman did find it odd how she could be concerned for him already, but she chalked it up to his being being kind to her. However, she still allowed herself to wonder if he would in fact be alright.
A gust of wind brushed past them causing a few blonde tendrils of her hair to be pushed into her face. Angelique raised her right arm slowly and tucked them back behind her ears as she sat silently in thought.

“Aside from the other Konti on the island and the visitors here, I too am alone for now...” Angelique paused for a moment so that she could think of how to phrase the rest of what she wanted to say. “... I am considering staying alone too. But, who knows what is in the cards for the future, right?” Her question was more or less a rhetorical one, but the tone of her voice was still soft and kind. Angelique’s gaze shifted back out over the ocean as she started to ponder her own words. Would she really allow herself to remain alone? Time could only tell.

“I ponder that same thing. But I’ve seen the world out there…”
His thoughts drifted as he slowly started to form very carefully the words in his head that he wished to say. Every single one deliberately put in its place. He then spoke.

“I’ve been part of the darkest part of it, not by choice. I’ve seen the human spirit broken and maimed. I’ve seen the beast that lies behind the mask that is worn by almost every human being alive. Take away niceties and make survival a necessity…then you see who a person really is.” He closed his eyes remembering the horrors. He could still smell the death. When it was as thick as it was at the camp there was a distinguishable smell to it. He hadn’t smelt it since he had gotten here, and why should he? But he also remembered how that place felt. He imagined you could get the same effect if you caged up and beat dogs for months straight. There would be a feeling around them…that was different for every individual who was present. For the one who held the power there was almost a sense of accomplishment he imagined; but for those who observed the feeling was quite different. Hopelessness wasn’t even dark enough to describe what the feeling was. He swallowed again and brought himself back.

“I need to know that I will be able to make it out there before I head out…but I wouldn’t leave alone.” He admitted as he dug a nail into the rhine and then peeled it off. Seemed like he had done that before…and indeed that was the case.

“I don’t intend to be alone forever…however it seems like that is what I am destined for right now. But maybe fate has something else in store. Another card it wishes to play possibly in my favor again.” He wasn’t referring directly to her when he said this. But he did look at her and painted a faint smile on his face. He then looked back out to the ocean.

“It would seem you have lived a life which most have only heard of." She could not even begin to imagine the things he spoke of. She continued thinking about many things. Angelique knew that it was starting to get later in the day, but she did not seem to care, how could she when she was mesmerized by the sound of the waves hitting the shore and pebbles. She smiled faintly as she watched the waves crash against the rocks before she looked up towards the sky which was now changing into a light blue color with white fluffy clouds holding a gentle tint of grey.

Angelique was uncertain as to what the cards had in store for her future, all she knew was the here and now. The Konti often wondered if the cards of fate were trying to tell her that she was in fact destined to be alone through her life, but she knew that if she were meant to have a partner in this life time whoever it was would find her. She could not allow for herself to be bothered to go looking for him when she had so much more to focus on. She canted her head to the side for a moment, allowing her icy hues to fall upon Serrif again, as she did so a soft smile formed upon her lips. It was like she knew exactly what the male was talking about when it came to these cards. “It could very well be in your favor.” The Konti stated before turning her head once more so that her gaze was back on the ocean.

As she sat looking out over the water once again, the woman questioned her own thoughts for a moment. Would he ever find her? She tried not to give another thought to what the cards were concealing of her future no matter how bad she really wanted to know. She knew that she had a long life ahead of her and that if he were to find her, she would be there waiting even if it took forever. After all unlike most people who visited the island, she did have all the time in the world, or so it would seem.

“I find it interesting how aspects on life change between races. Especially human and Konti.”
He ate some of the grapefruit then poised himself to speak again.

“I can’t even imagine how my outlook on life would change if I had as long as a Konti to live. Perhaps I would discover that time does heal all wounds, maybe I would be a little more patient and learn to forgive more easily.” He looked out over the waves and laughed a little.

“Or perhaps exactly the opposite would happen. Perhaps I would weave an elaborate web of revenge on those who wronged me. A web so elaborate and exact that it would be impossible for them to even conceive. Who knows right?” He said as he laughed a little again at the idea. How he would love to trap those who had wronged him. But he didn’t have the skills to do so. But if he had as long as a Konti to develop them…well he could indeed do exactly as he had stated.

“Either is possible I suppose.” He shrugged and then ate some more of the grapefruit.

“I really don’t understand how one could deal with a lifetime as long as yours. I would think that life would eventually become dull and relatively meaningless. But that is my guess. I have no real experience in such things being that I will live a tenth of your lifespan.” He stretched some and wondered just what it would be like to live as long as her.

He would doubtlessly exact revenge, but would he stop there? How far would he allow himself to take this revenge? And would he ever stop? He could see himself becoming a complete vigilante; a law onto himself and himself only. He thought this over carefully. It would indeed be quite the risk, but the reward would be great as well. All the skills he could perfect. Maybe he could find a cure for his own sickness. Maybe he could cure other sicknesses as well. He could travel as well curing whatever he felt he needed to or could. That would be interesting.

“Well, Konti tend to see many things in life differently more than others do. We tend to see the good and bad in all things, sometimes not by choice.” Her voice was soft like a faint whisper. She often wondered what it would be like to be something other than a Konti, but this was the race she was granted, so she was more than willing to embrace whatever came her way.

She fell silent again, trying to think of something else to say to Serrif, but she still did not know him that well, although by now she had decided that she would like to try and get to know him better if he would allow her to do so. The Konti had never truly thought of extracting revenge on anyone who had wronged her, she knew that if someone had the chance to wrong her they would probably get what they had coming to them in the end.

“Dealing with the things that we deal with is not always easy, but we know that they need to be dealt with, Serrif. But it is what we do. I would like to think that dealing with whatever the cards have in store for someone is what anyone would do.” The Konti paused once again as she thought of what she was going to say next, before she could actually get her the things she wanted to say organized in her mind she started to blurt something out. “Is that a good grapefruit?” She asked him, hoping to change the subject to something else. As she asked him this a soft chuckle escaped from her lips. Her blue orbs did not seem to leave the huge body of water that laid before them.

He reflected carefully as he listened to her. Inwardly he understood why Konti viewed things the way they did. But there were exceptions to every rule. And he believed to the best of his knowledge that not EVERY person viewed things the way he did. No that wasn’t reasonable. But he knew that there were indeed Konti that were different from the typical Konti woman. He knew Ildin was a little different. But that was because of her past and what she had been through in her life. He imagined the same was true for him as well. He had seen things that there were only hushed tales whispered about. He couldn’t believe he had survived himself as of yet. But the truth of the matter was a little more stunning than that. He still couldn’t even begin to imagine the damage that was done. There were still times he couldn’t sleep at night; he just laid awake staring at the canvas roof of his tent thinking. He wasn’t always sure about what but the subject did indeed vary.

Sometimes he thought about his escape. He still wasn’t sure about what the details were. But he was drugged horribly more than half the time at the camp…so it figured that there would be extensive damage to his long term memory while there. But what astonished him even more was the damage to his long term memory. He still couldn’t remember anything before the camp. Nothing about where he was from, if he had a family nothing. It was strange but he wondered if he really did have a family. He supposed it was possible; but again he had been gone for two years in the camp…or so he thought. But the honest truth was any family would’ve likely stopped searching for him by now. He was likely assumed dead. And even if he remembered where he was from would he really want to go back?

“I suppose we each see things differently because of who we are and what we have been through.” The only logical conclusion he could really reach at this point.

She tried to change the topic but his mind was already reeling inside. Wondering the dark corridors and peeking in the dimly lit rooms that contained replays of the few memories he had. They were hazy and well he wasn’t sure how true some of them were. He wondered and there were so many doors that were not present to him here. So many memories missing. He sighed and then spoke again.

“I’m not sure, I’ve never really eaten one before. So I really have nothing to compare it to in all fairness. But it is indeed interesting in the way of fruit. Bitter yet pleasing.” He ate some more of the pink flesh and closed his eyes. Sometimes he wished he could have the life he left behind…whatever it had been.

Her mind started to become clouded as her thoughts moved seemingly a mile a minute through her head while she sat on the shore with Serrif, looking out over the water.Angelique knew she still had the peeled grapefruit in her hands but as her thoughts took over she did not feel as hungry anymore so the woman just nibbled on the flesh of the fruit a little at a time while listening to Serrif. “You are the first person who I have met that has never had grapefruit before.”Angelique stated. She had always believed that everyone has tried this kind of fruit at least once in their life time, but now she realized how wrong she was.

Angelique stretched for a moment as her thoughts continued to speed through her mind. By now she was starting to wonder as why Serrif was on the shore at the exact moment that she had shown up there. Could it have been fate trying to tell her something? Maybe the cards were trying to point her in this direction for a reason. Whatever the reason be, Angelique was glad to have the company while sitting there listening to the waves. It was true. The fact that this male was on the beach when she decided to go there to think, puzzled her, but she knew he said he lived there in his tent. The Konti tried to shake off the feeling that he was on the beach for some other reason then just living there. She had been wrong before and would not be surprised if she were wrong now.

“Surely there must be someone who has caught your eye?” Angelique blurted out, once again her thoughts getting ahead of themselves before she were able to carefully plan her words. She did not look at him when she realized what she had asked. The Konti secretly hoped he would not bother to answer that question, but felt he would anyway. Her ice blue hues remained looking out over the water.

Crashing (Angelique)

Postby Serrif Von Chatlyn on May 27th, 2011, 4:09 pm

He really didn’t know what to think about fate anymore. It seemed to him at times that fate wanted to play cruel and unusual jokes on him. Put his heart in the hands of a Konti woman who didn’t have any interest in him at all; or maybe make him plummet to the bottom of the lake and nearly drown only to be saved by that very same woman. He did have someone who caught his eye, but she was out of his reach. Unobtainable by even his best efforts. So he learned that sometimes you just had to give up and just let it be. There was really nothing else you could do sometimes. And he had come to this conclusion himself after nearly a season of trying to woo her. It just wasn’t going to happen; he knew this now.

When she spoke of someone having caught his eye he carefully framed his next words. Mostly because now he knew that Konti women were different in how they displayed affection; and how they responded to it as well. He figured he would go about this very carefully.

“Yes, someone has caught my eye.” He ate some of the pink flesh of the grapefruit savoring it’s sour taste before he said anything else.

“She has wonderful deep colorful eyes that shift between wonderful hazel green and the most vivid blue you have ever seen. She has long beautiful hair as gold as the suns fingers just before sunset. She appears fragile, but if I were you I wouldn’t let that fool you; she is a very interesting woman. And she apparently has wonderful eyesight.” He paused as he smiled and laughed a little looking out over the waves. “because she was able to spot a grapefruit from a good distance away.”

Was he talking about her? It wasn’t clear at first, many Konti had golden hair and well more than a few had to have eyes that changed colors. And well many Konti women appeared fragile but really weren’t. So well he could’ve been talking about anyone. But what closed the deal was the very end. When he talked about her abilities to spot a grapefruit from a good distance away; that bit was very specific knowledge that when combined with all the other information made her sure he was indeed talking about her. And indeed he was.

“Kontni women are interesting Angelique. All beautiful but each of you are beautiful in little different ways. I can imagine if I ever spoke of this place outside the isle they would think me to be a madman” He smiled a little and laughed looking over to her. Did she understand what he was saying. He tried to be as direct yet subtle as possible with her. But he wasn’t good at just flying under the radar when it came to his feelings.

Crashing (Angelique)

Postby Angelique on May 27th, 2011, 5:16 pm

Her gaze seemed permanently fixated upon the sea while listening to Serrif’s words as he spoke of the one who had caught his eye. When he first started to describe the woman, she again started to wonder why she had been lead to the beach. After hearing him mention about how she were able to see the grapefruit from such a distance, it began to sink in. He was not speaking of some other, he was in fact speaking of her. Angelique turned her head slightly from side to side allowing her to scan the shore line to be sure of her thoughts. Seeing no other women around, she concluded that the thoughts she now had in her mind were correct. He is speaking of me. She thought for a moment before allowing her head to turn once more into his direction.
Angelique was not too sure on how she should respond to such words, after all she had been wrong before in her dealings with men.

The corners of her mouth pushed upwards gently, letting a faint smile form upon her lips as she sat there looking at him now. She believed he knew what he was trying to say, however she had to be careful. Could he possibly see her in some other way? Other than two strangers having a chance meeting in passing? Was this some bad joke that fate was trying to pull once more. Or could it be that she were in fact still resting some where on the island and dreaming this very moment? As these thoughts ran through her mind she closed her eyes for only a moment and gently shook her head in an effort to be rid of them. When she re-opened her eyes, she saw that she were still sitting on the shore, and Serrif was still sitting next to her. Angelique had now decided to take a chance. “Serrif, what exactly are you trying to say?” As she asked him her question, she felt like she should know the answer already but she had to be certain that she was hearing him correctly.

The Konti refused to look away from the male. She was trying to read his facial features, now more so than before as she waited for his response. The smile that had graced her lips just moments ago lingered briefly then started to fade. Maybe, just maybe fate had pushed her in the direction of the beach today because she were supposed to meet him. This new thought she could not get rid of.
