No one seemed to mind that in the middle of the crowd the Symenestra began drawing bloody glyphs on his palm and focusing his djed. Had a Syliran Knight been present, his blade would have been out of his sheath and at Voreasos' throat before the spiderling could have moved another muscle or uttered another word.

That Voreasos gave up the little girl easily was probably what more distracted the rest of the group, for she truly was terrified of him, and he didn't really threaten her in any way outwardly. When he invoked his djed, her aura gave off no physical injury, which was what he could see at his level. There was no sign of pain concentrating anywhere on the shimmer that surrounded her skin after the Symenestra invoked his personal magic. Instead the color was tinged with fear and loss... the color one associates with death or with people at a funeral. Someone had severely injured her mother, perhaps even killed her, and the child was acting like it was a symenestra by the way she DID NOT WANT Voreasos to hold her.

She instead went to Jeb who had no idea what to do with little ones, other than pat their heads. Serena would know what to do with her, for certain, but Serena was in town on business. And for all Alyxandyr Finn's gusto, there were no females around. None, other than one old groom that poked her head out of the barn, snorted, and resumed work figuring all the menfolk could handle it. Jeb, finally, spoke out as he continued to pat at the clinging child. "So which direction did they ride out? And how much are you charging to guide?" He asked, not considering for a moment this little task would be 'free'.

The Sungold settled as soon as Fallan had her lead, snorting worriedly and rolling her eyes at the spiderling. Someone used to horses would note instantly that as soon as the girl was safe, the mare turned her rear towards Voreasos and was well within kicking range. Her luminous eyes searched Fallans and she settled as he seemed to remain calm himself.

Ursus was smart to investigate. He alone, moreso than anyone else in the crowd was equipped (meaning his nose) to learn something that others didn't have the keen senses too. Voreasos smelled like Symenestra. It was obvious why. The Sungold smelled of Symenestra too - and human blood and sweat. The girl didn't smell like anything but the Sungold... and while Alyxandyr smelled like a lot of things which reminded Ursus of gambling halls, cheap women, a tinge of liquor - he also had a faint scent of Symenestra about himself.

Jeb, still holding onto the girl, shook his head. "We should alert the knights. I don't know what happened, but they will want to know and can help. I don't know how the Sungold got her through the gates alone in this shape without someone stopping the mare. But something is strange here." He commented, looking at the others for their opinions as well.

He felt tired, he forgot this power drained him this much as he moved back slightly. The power already gone but it did its job and took what it wanted, out of him. However his stance changed slightly to more worried when he heard of knights.

He would be taken in and blamed for anything as his race was just border line welcomed here and in signs of danger he would be blamed. "Well...I am no help here so I will just leave..." He said softly in common, his voice was normally soft yet more so now just showing how tired he was. He had to find food and quickly before he killed anyone.

However he had ideas of where to find the mother, he had hopes she was alive if it was his race that took her. If she went willing then her odds were higher for now but he had to move quickly. This was not the first time he tried to save a person's live. He did the same thing back then in his own nest but he was no where near home nor his Web.

He wish he took more allies when he made his mind up to leave so far from home. He felt homesick and that thought sadden him a bit. He knew where an smaller nest was roughly.

Voreasos would find his way out blocked by a stern looking Ursus Umosa. His nose had told him much about what had happened. The horse held the same sort of unmistakable scent of a spiderfolk, a detestable race that Ursus had battled many times during his service with his old master.

He had watched Voreasos' devilry with a wary eye before his investigation was complete. Would he find anything? If he did would he tell the truth? What was his game here? The Kelvic wondered.

What the ferrier said was the truth, the Knights should be called. However, Ursus did not particularly desire to see them. His trust of them was as thin as his trust in this spider...man?

Plus, maybe he could pick up some Mizas which he needed.

"The horse smells like your kind." He said simply, his right hand resting on his Katana's hilt. "And of human blood." He was stating facts and waited a response. If Voreasos continued his attempt to leave Ursus would try to prevent him.

Ursus cast a sidelong glance at Alyx before concentrating . There was more to him then suspected, however, Ursus did not want to overplay his hand. The kelvic warrior knew that there was much more to his story, but the man wasn't telling. He suspected that soon more facts would surface, but for now Ursus would keep an eye on him.

Vor just looked at the man...but then he saw he was an Kelvic. Eyes gave it away, they had there animal traits in human form as he use to have an Kelvic friend and hope he would see her again soon. He needed her more so now.

"Yes...I can see that. I need to eat and move quickly to see why but food comes first and I can't be here with the knights coming or we may see an death that is unneeded. However food comes first."

"Now I am taking my leave. Join me or stay and play with the nice little humans."

He did not even try to sweet talk his way around the man. His colorful red eyes slowly blinked a few times as he looked at him. He was a fighter he took the wild guess from his blades and how he handled himself.

With the horse quieted it would have been hard for Fallan not to notice how it had chosen to align itself, nor as a result to connect some of the previous happenings with the child screaming. If he'd spent more time with horses than with children still it didn't take a genius to notice the change when the farrier took hold of the child.

It was not his style to lead from the front, which is why he'd stayed more or less mute until this point. It was more revealing to watch the others and draw his own conclusions, and it seemed that they needed little prompting from him. Tension soared as suspicion tangibly fell upon the spiderling. He watched the drama unmoved, uncaring if either the Kelvic or Symestra were to be injured, neither were really people, he cared more for the horse than he did them.

He wondered if the Sungold might now need a new owner and if it might be a bad idea to own such an animal. Attractive perhaps, but would it draw more attention than it was worth?

While Ursus completely blocked Voreasos' way and Voreasos tried yet again to leave - inviting the big bear of a man to join him in a rather sarcastic manner. There was a fight brewing to be sure. It would just depend on how the Kelvic handled himself and the Symenestra. It didn't look easy or pretty.

Old Jeb though, he didn't ignore the weasel. He was still waiting for Alyxnadyr to offer him a price. There was always a price for people like Alyxnadyr. " You think you know where this horse came from? Do you have tracking skills or something?" The old farrier asked. He sure wanted to know what happened to the pretty lady and didn't truly want to raise a child all on his own.

Jeb still thought the knights should be alerted, because if anyone could find the site of the 'attack' if indeed there was one, and had any hope of finding the woman alive or unbred - they'd have to act fast. Jeb wasn't certain the people in the courtyard could work their problems out long enough to help someone else.

The Sungold snorted at Fallan, and backed slowly away. It only wore a simple headstall and lead rope, nothing anywhere near as fancy as a bridle. The rope trailed the ground as it backed up. Casual observation might lead a witness to believe the horse was actually retreating from Fallan, but it was not. Its eyes quietly watched the human as it backed closer to the Symenestra, where its back hooves could do a great deal of damage if a fight erupted. Its luminous golden eyes were full of intelligence and rage - a quiet incredibly distractive anger. Fallan could understand immediately that it was in attack/defense mode. It did not let fear and rage completely control it. That was what made Sungolds so expensive. Fallan could probably buy this one when the day was said and done, because truthfully if the Symenestra were responsible for attacking it and had taken the mother, there was very little hope that she was still alive or untouched. And if she was touched, she'd be far better off dead, because the spiderlings rarely left their reproductive hosts alive when they were born.

For a trader like Fallan, tracking skills were something of a mystery. Now a farrier he could understand, heat metal and beat it into shape - while he might not have the finesse to do the job, at least he could understand how it was done. Tracking though was one of the black arts for which he would normally have some respect, but then it was Alexnadyr who was perhaps offering so his attention wandered off the bickering pair and onto what might prove to be the way forward in this mystery.

For the knights he was not as bothered as Jeb, suspecting that if they became involved then they might well start taking charge of the Sungold and no trader really appreciated the interference of those in charge, except when it suited him of course.

As the Sungold backed away, he allowed the lead rope to pay out. The health of the spiderling was no concern of his and if it was too foolish to notice what was happening then really it wasn't his problem. He controlled his impatience for a moment longer, content to see what fell out of the potential conflict.

Vor would find that Ursus would not budge either. The Symenestra's attempts at persuasion did not work on the large Kelvic. Everything he knew from his experiences in the Knights told him that these people should not be trusted. However, if he was involved why would he come here? Was he pursuing the child but he didn't catch up with the horse? Once again Ursus' mind was not nimble enough to really figure it out. Until facts or a reason was given to Ursus, the Kelvic remained unmoved.

A large hand extended and held him back with a meaty paw in Vor's chest. His other hand hovered near the hilt of his Katana. His muscles tensed, ready for action. If the Symenestra tried to make an offensive attempt Ursus was prepared to respond.

"Forgive me for being a little wary," Ursus said, his head cocking involuntarily to the side.

"But allow me one question. Is there more of your kind close by? If so, where are they?"

Re: [Open Adventure] Sometimes The Luck Spills Out Of The Shoe

Postby Niall Raghnall on August 11th, 2009, 8:21 pm

Niall had been spending his day upon his warhorse, Devlin, practicing his routines for patrol. He was using his ears to listen to the voices and sounds around him while using his eyes to attempt to soak in everything that was in the scope of his vision. It was a lesson that would take years to successfully master according to his mentor, Captain Knight Albrek Degan. Niall missed most things with his eyes and ears but never faltered from his task at hand.

Niall had a patience about him when it came to training knowing that every mistake was a lesson learned and did not fret over the errors of his attempts. He knew that even the best weaponmasters made many mistakes to become who they were now. There would come a day when he would be master and the honor it would bring to him, his mentor, and the knights meant everything to him.

Niall was a squire under Captain Knight Albrek Degan of the Syliran Knights and hoped one day to join the ranks of his father and father before him and become a full Knight. Though most Knights were humans, Niall and his family were of the small percentage that were Akalak. Niall was just over seven feet tall and weighed two hundred and sixty five pounds to those who were able to determine such stats. He had been training since he was of age to become a squire in horsemanship, sword and shield, and the lance. While performing this training, his longsword was in its sheath at his side with his shiled strapped to his back. He even wore his scale armor knowing that his body had to learn to adapt to movements both on and off the horse with such objects on him.

Niall did not wear a helmet and his dark skin held a violet hue under the light of the sun. his hair was pulled back into a ponytail showing his slightly pointed ears common of the akalak race. He did not sit atop his heavy warhorse with arrogance but as one that held pride an honor. arrogance would prevent him from aiding those who might call upon him; a vain emotions that robbed one of his honor.

Though the large Akalak had been unsuccessful at noticing most things, Niall's eyes had noticed the crowd and noise coming from the metal workers shop. Riding in the direction, he was able to take quick notice of the sungold and bloody child. Second observation noticed the large human standing in the path and attempting to put his hand in the center of the chest of another person that Niall did not quickly enough assess to being a Symenestra. His initial thoughts on the unfolding scene was that somehow the person being stopped was somehow being held responsible for the blood on the child.

Luckily, he had received enough training to know that initital thoughts could be deceiving and chose to move his horse through the crowd and behind the large man standing in the path of the symenestra.

"Hello!" He said in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear him. "I am Squire Niall Raghnall to Captain Knight Albrek Degan of the Syliran Knights. Might I please be informed of what has taken place here that I might give a helping hand to whomever is in need? Why is the Symenestra being detained and what happened to the child?" It had been much easier to assess what race the person was once he was close enough to observe the racial features. Niall had not stepped off of his horse but had managed to pull his shield onto his right arm while his left hand rested upon the pummel of his sheathed longsword. Niall was left handed.

Voreasos raised his left hand as Niall came and talked. His eyes not taking off the Kelvic. "I am in need of help, I need to go eat before to much longer" He said to him as he did nothing to guard himself or pose any form of strike.

He was a bit thankful that the squire was not human, it meant that he might not be given a hard time but he still did not like the idea of any form of knight here but then again he was out of his happy bubble of safety. He should had brought his own guards before he left home, it would had meant a lot more now.

He could move and run to the barn and climb but he was out numbered now and the horse was far faster then he was. It would look bad to run but he was not being looked in a kind light. All races were the same to him, just because he was what he was people thought he was the evil one.

If this kept up he would be killed, hurt, or held unwilling for stupid reasons. They were losing time and he was losing playing nice to the races here in this group. Yet he knew that sungold horse was also a danger to him.
