Another Unfriendly Encounter [Leigo]

37th day of Spring, 511 AV

Everyday where he didn't have to go to class wasn't going to be a free day for Idue. Sometimes he actually had to study for his classes, something he disliked with a passion. He'd prefer to learn only during class hours. After that, he should be a free man, with every part of the day for his own uses. Instead, he is stuck in this musty library studying an old book for his Zeltivan History class. And it was irking his nerves.

Idue sat at a desk, tan fingers flipping the pages casually, his brown eyes scanning the paper. Professor Silverkin had suggested they study up on the bay that Zeltiva bordered, because that would be their discussion topic for class in a few days. His fellow students left smiling with delight, because this was an easy topic for them. But Idue wasn't from Zeltiva, and he didn't know much about water to begin with. In Ekytol, he wasn't used to seeing any water source bigger than a spring. And they didn't name the springs in Ekytol. If they did, than no two tribe called it the same name.

But shouldn't the city library have books pertaining to the bay the petching city was built on? Maybe if he had pestered the librarian enough, she would've told him. But she was too preoccupied with a handsome student asking her about herbology. She merely waved him in the general direction where she said books on Zeltiva would be, before she turned back to her main focus. So Idue had to search for himself, flipping through dozens of books to find knowledge on a bay he knew nothing about.

Finally he threw his hands up in the air, muttering a few curses in his native tongue. "What is the petchin' name of the bay bordering Zeltiva?" He asked the question, not expecting an answer.

But for some perculiar reason, someone had the answer for him. Someone who he did not wish to see.

Another Unfriendly Encounter [Leigo]

Postby Leigo on March 22nd, 2012, 1:08 pm

Leigo who was still trying to recover from his previous wounds started to encircle the bookcases. He no longer had a reason to avoid the library. Meeting Anaya was no longer awkward and therefore, stepping away from any part of the University was stupid at best. It was probably a stupid solution in the past too… but no one was there to set him on a better course. Hardly anyone could.

Instead of inspecting books and covers and thousands upon thousands of written words, he inspected people. A local, two foreigners, three more locals, and a strange creature too… they were all there on their own pursuits. In his many years of absence from these scholarly pursuits, Leigo’s thirst for books weakened somewhat and instead he usually did his best to understand people. Caring for their reasons was beyond him, but trying to understand sounded like his cup of tea. So when a face he could recognize from earlier boomed out of nowhere, Leigo felt reaction was an imperative.

Perhaps he should scold the man? That was no way to act in the library after all… No, he wasn’t such a hardass. Still it felt strange to just leave a question hanging in the air; a question he could undoubtedly solve, any Zeltivan could after all. His competitive nature got the best of him, but there were some changes to his normal behavior. This time he would try and act more decently, perhaps then he could come to an understanding just what it was about him that repelled people so much.

“It’s Mathews. I can still remember how many of us were forced to read those books. Incredible history of Zeltiva this, incredible history of Zeltiva that… and it was all true, but you can’t really force it in a kid’s head. What are you studying anyway?”

It wasn’t really a conversation starter, and he surely didn’t warm up to the man, but he wanted to understand. Somehow that notion pushed all pride out of him, for the time being.
