512 Spring 73rd

'...I think I'm lost.'

The konti looked around, her expression puzzled. She had arrived in Syliras earlier that day, and thus knew nothing about the city. Nira'lia had left her companions to explore the place, and now she had no idea how to get back.

The sun was just about to set, and Nira'lia found that there was not really much to see in Syliras at the moment. A lof of the establishments were in ruin, and the people all looked desperate. It made her feel uneasy. The fact that the sun was about to set didn't help in driving away the uneasiness as well.

Nira'lia glanced around once more, even if she knew it probably wouldn't help. She couldn't tell one street from another.

'Yeah. I'm definitely lost.'

If she remembered correctly, her companions had put up their tents near the city gates. She carefully approached the closest person. Without even checking who he was, she called out. "Hi! Can you help me? What's the direction to the city gates?"

Song for a Stormy Night [Waheed]

Postby Waheed on May 14th, 2012, 6:58 pm

'Just one more package and another hard earned Miza will be in my pocket' Waheed thought to himself, surprisingly enough it was a slow day, or at least less time consuming than the other days. With the reconstruction efforts he had found himself going back and forth delivering various packages, sometimes to the same individuals within the same bell, it was quite confusing as well since it was so many people.

As he made his way to his final destination of for the day, someone had approached him quite suddenly. A young Konti, at least young by her peoples standards 'Always surprised how some of these other folks are quite long lived' He thought to himself. Unfortunately she needed help, something he was willing to give but was not quite sure how 'Hmmm..... I'm not that far from the recipients home, may as well deliver the letter and show her the way myself. Konti are usually good people and she didn't look like she was from around here' Indeed, assuming she was lost it would be troublesome to just giver her confusing directions and then leave her to her own devices 'may as well get lost even further if I did' He looked at her and gave a polite smile 'I'm afraid its quite a distance miss, I'd be happy to take you there after I deliver this letter here' He said to her, flashing the letter he held in right hand, to be delivered to one of the building foreman " It will only take a few minutes and then will be off, is that alright?"

Song for a Stormy Night [Waheed]

'A courier...?'

She looked up at him and patiently listened to his response. Nira'lia was happy to realize that he would help her, even take her there, and all she had to do was accompany him in delivering a letter. The konti smiled widely and nodded her head enthusiastically.

"Yes! That would be perfect!" she said, clapping her hands together happily. All of a sudden, all the uneasiness that she was feeling left her. Nira'lia was not exactly the best when judging a person's character, as she seemed to trust anyone without second thought, but somehow she knew she would be safe with this person.

'Surely a courier would know his way around! I got lucky!'

The konti nodded and started to follow the man to where ever he was bound to go. She quickened her pace to make sure that she kept up with him.

"By the way, I'm Nira'lia. Are you from this city, or are you just here for the time being?"

Song for a Stormy Night [Waheed]

Postby Waheed on May 15th, 2012, 7:36 pm

‘Thank goodness, would hate to think what would happen if she got loss….. Most likely to be found by a knight, but still..’ Relieved, he began to walk passed and motioned her to follow ‘Do keep up miss, we’re going to have to run a bit, you do know how to run, don’t you?’ He chuckled as he began to move quickly. Running was a skill useful for getting from one place to another at a quick pace, or to retreat from trouble at an equal pace. Waheed was good at it, not the best but certain good enough to do his job proper. Of course he had to slow down quite a bit, so as the lady behind him could catch up. It couldn’t be actually called running really, what Waheed was doing, but more like walking so fast that it was to border running if he allowed.

“Raised here Ma’am, Syliras is my home ever since I was taken in by the old couple that raised me, may the find peace in the next life” He said to her as they walked, rounding a corner to a row of homes and apartments, already getting close to the recipient’s house “As you can tell I’m actually a Bennishira. Don’t know much about my own kin though, since I was influenced by Syliran culture mostly. Really the only thing that links me to them is worshiping Yahal, my looks and perhaps the scimitar that hangs at my waist”

“What about you, miss? Your obviously not from here, so if you don’t mind be a tad nosy can I ask what brings you here?” He asked, the polite smile still on his face ‘Hope she doesn’t mind’

"Uhm, well, yes, I do know how to run..."

How was it even possible not to know how to run? Nira'lia's bigger problem was that she wasn't good at it. Rather, she was not skilful when it came to anything athletic. She pursed her lips together and said nothing though, and did her best to keep up with him. The konti realized that he meant brisk walking rather than running, but it gave her a difficult time anyway.

She struggled to keep up. Nira'lia had much shorter legs and his brisk walking practically did mean running for her. He was telling her something – probably answering her question. All she was able to catch was the last few words, as she was so focused on not being left behind. He was saying something about Yahal, his looks, and... a scimitar? The konti's eyes trailed to the weapon on his side.

"...that looks like a formidable weapon," she gulped.

Nira'lia noted the polite smile he gave her, and she couldn't help but return it with a wide and vibrant one. The konti usually wore a smile on her face, and she always felt happy with others who gave away that simple gesture so freely.

"I'm from Zeltiva!" she said enthusiastically. Now that they were walking, she found it easier to speak and to listen to his words. "I'm actually just passing by Syliras, and I think we're leaving tomorrow or the day after. I'm headed to Alvadas... have you ever been to Alvadas? If you have, what's it like?"

The konti tended to be a chatty one, especially to those she felt comfortable with, even if they were just strangers. She looked at him curiously, as if hopeful that he would be able to give her an idea about the city of illusions. As she spoke, they got closer and closer to the house he was headed to. If he was going to deliver the letter soon, she would decide to just take a step back and wait for him.

OOCI changed the title for you! *cures your torment*

Far From Home [Waheed]

"I've never been there ma'am, never sat foot out of Syliras' border, so I can't really tell you of Zeltive. Whatever I've heard you'd most likely heard too" He said to her, suddenly stopping as he realized this was the street were the home was located, where he had to deliver the letter. First he needed to examine the place, his eyes darting around like they always do 'It was number 78' He said as he walked, examining each homes number, some looked to be in better shape than others, the rest still under reconstruction 'Finishing touches I believe'. Soon he found the home and motioned the Konti woman to get closer. Gently knocking on the door he shouted 'A letter for Leroy Stark' after waiting a few moments he received no response.

"Thats odd" He said aloud, a look of confusion upon his face, again he gently tapped against the door, repeating the name of the man and the letter was addressed to. Yet again, no answer was recieved, so he decided one more, then he would escort the Konti girl where she needed to be. This time he tapped harder, and to his surprise, the door opened.... Finding himself curious Waheed stuck his head inside, to see if anyone was there. There was someone 'Oh dear' On the floor was a middleaged man, lying on the floor unconscious. Storming he approached the fallen from, his hand touching the bodies bare flesh "He's quite warm, we're going to need a healer.... Do you mind staying with him will I retrieve one" An urgent tone accompanied his words, she was a Konti and quite frankly he imagined one saying no is like him setting foot out of Syliras, both high impossibilities.

Far From Home [Waheed]

Postby Nira'lia on May 17th, 2012, 1:14 pm

The Konti's eyes widened as she followed Waheed and entered the house after him. He was moving with urgency, and as soon as she saw what had happened, she knew why. A man, presumably Leroy Stark, the one Waheed had been calling for, was unconscious on the ground.

Nira'lia nodded at the courier and rushed to the man's side. She knelt before him and ran her eyes along his body, looking for any signs of trauma.

"I'm a medic," she told Waheed, probably to make him feel more at ease if she could possibly do something. However, she still believed it would be best to get more help. She had nothing with her to aide her in this situation, and if Waheed didn't trust her words alone, she would be okay with that. Nira'lia looked back at the man and saw that he had no visible wounds, but that the right side of his head looked swollen.

The konti placed her hand gingerly on his head to get a better look. The moment her skin touched his, her eyes turned to a daze as she received visions of his past – images of his happiest moment. That was her konti gift, and it happened involuntarily when she touched another person. As soon as the images disappeared, she forced herself to concentrate on the present, her eyes focusing on what was before her.

Now that she was getting a better look, she saw that there indeed was a bump on the side of his head – a sign of blunt trauma. She looked around quickly to look for the cause, and stared, mouth-agape, at a broken vase.

"I... I think he was hit by someone..." she looked around the house quickly. "You don't think... there's someone else in here?"

Far From Home [Waheed]

Waheed took great relief in knowing that she was a medic, causing him to stay longer with her before he would attempt to inform a knight of the situation 'Even with tightened security from the knights, trouble just seems to leak through the small cracks ' When she asked him of the possibility of anyone still in the room, he shook his head 'No, his home is but a large single room, unless the assailant can hide himself in the open I doubt he'd be here' He looked at the broken vase, a frown on his face "I don't know what to say why he was attacked, but you tend to him while I bring a knight" He stood up and before he stepped out the door, he turned and look "Will you be okay on your own?" He asked her, a pair of distant eyes watching him outside, awaiting for Waheed to leave.

Far From Home [Waheed]

Postby Nira'lia on May 18th, 2012, 6:55 pm

Glancing around the room, Nira'lia saw that he was right. Immediately, she felt stupid for asking that question, and bit back her lip from saying anything further. However, even if there was nobody else around, she still didn't feel comfortable about the whole situation.

She wanted to tell him that she couldn't really do anything at the moment. The best thing to do was to get him to an infirmary, and she didn't have the strength to that -- and he wanted to go get a Knight, which was also a smart move.

Nira'lia forced herself not to tell him that she didn't want to be left there alone. "Okay, please do get a Knight," she told him with a faint smile, urging him to go on, also oblivious to the watchful eyes of someone unseen.

Her attention was caught by the man who began to stir. In her surprise, she didn't even notice if Waheed had already left. The man was slowly regaining consciousness, and was making an effort to get up when Nira'lia placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Sir, please don't move much! Help is on its way, it would be best to stay still..."

The man was murming something, his words strangled. He was still getting in touch with the present. "It's not... safe..." were the only words Nira'lia could make out.

The Konti blinked. "What?" she asked.

Far From Home [Waheed]

Postby Waheed on May 20th, 2012, 6:37 pm

As Waheed left her in search of a knight, He missed the eyes that stared in the darkness, two figures dressed in leather armor that as dark as Ink, their faces hidden under their scarves and hoods. One of the two looked at the other, silently commanding him to watch the home of the victim, while he himself followed Waheed. Waheed did not know of the malicious shadow that followed him, only focused on running and search for a knight. The streets were silent, the citizens of Syliras were either enjoying the comforts of their own homes or were at Taverns enjoying a warm meal, few sounds were to be heard on the street other than Waheed’s footstep. At a corner he stopped to gather his breath and allowed his eyes to wander in search of a knight. A sense of unease flushed upon him, more so than the sight of the unconscious victim in the home he had left, the silence was eerie and as he looked around some more in search of a knight he quickly turned around as if expecting to find someone, but there was no one.

The figure clade in dark leather was watching intently from the distance, his figure hiding behind corners or large barrels and wagons as he watched his quarry move about, seeing the paranoia that was crawling upon his senses ‘A curse or blessing for those who know how to use them’ he thought, reaching to behind his waist and pulling out a dagger ‘ Our mistake was thinking you had delivered, time to correct that mistake and yank that letter from your corpse[i]’ The dagger had pulled served a specific purpose, it was smaller in length rather than a regular dagger, to be held from handle or blade it would be used as a throwing weapon and take out a target at a set distance. Once the murderer or thug was close enough he threw his throwing dagger at Waheed, it seemed to fly true torwards the unaware Waheed, but there is such a thing as dumb luck. As Waheed stood there unaware of foe’s dagger being thrown at him, moving slightly he found himself almost losing balance over a crack and with a thud against the wall the dagger’s hilt hit the wall and a ‘clink’ as it touched the ground ‘[i]Damn it all’.

‘What in Yahal’s name was that?’ He turned his head to the ominous sound and found the throwing blade lying on the ground, now filled with panic his eyes darted around to search for the would-be killer ‘Yahal, dear father save me!!’ He thought as he caught the charging figure, a shorts word In his hand as he performed a charging thrust at him, Waheed was barely able to avoid the thrust as he fell back in surprised ‘Oh gods, I wonder how the girl is doing’ The thought came to him as he quickly crawled back, stood up and pulled his scimitar, all the while shouting for a knight.
