Casing the joint (Sasin)(Closed)

It was barely morning, and yet, Stormhold castle was already bustling with people. Cooks, workers, nobles, citizens, knights, and adventurers. In this crowd, a young Dhani made his way, unnoticed, towards the northern side of the castle.

Walking towards the Miza mint, Sasin considered the idea that he might be mad. There must be a thousand different ways to go about this, and here he was, just sauntering in. Hiding in plain sight. He wasn't sure what the plan was, really. Just go in, and get as much information as he could, he supposed. How had he gotten himself into this mess, anyways?

Oh right. He had been leaving the Fire Festival when a Vantha cornered him, and told him he was going to rob the miza mint. And him, being him, agreed to go along with it. It was a good plan, but it was ambitious. And ambitious almost always meant month's of planning and spying. Which was why he was here now.

Dodging past another knight, Sasin realized he must be getting close. Turning the corner, Sasin stopped. "This is it."

Mod NoteSorry, but you can't just turn a corner and walk into the people working. There are actual doorways, guards, etc.

The Miza Mint wasn't hard to find. It was on the second tier or ground floor in the northeast corner of Stormhold Castle. It took up the entire wing, and Sasin found himself running into full dress Syliran Knights patrolling long before he came to a huge set of double doors that blocked off the entire wing. Upon first inspection from wtihin, the place looked hard to get into. Four guards covered the entrance, two flanked outwards halfway down the Miza Mint hall and two blocking the doors leading into the mint itself. Both doors had carved Gold-Rimmed Mizas mounted to them made of stone and obviously gilded with gold.

There were no visible people working, no way to see past the entrance and into the actual mint itself. There was a small desk recessed into the hallway itself with a receptionist sitting there overseeing an appointment book and knitting. She raised an eyebrow at Sasin's obvious approach but wouldn't say anything until he did so. Sasin had several options. He could go talk to the receptionist to see if he could get an appointment to view inside, or he could turn back and scout outside to see if there was another entrance or where exactly shipments might arrive or depart - because obviously the hallway wasn't the place. There was most likely some sort of shipping door or wagon dock outside.

He could see the place was heavily guarded. Four guards stood there, guarding the entrance. Two near the doors, and two down the hall. They seemed to be watching his every move, although that was quickly dismissed as paranoia. There was a receptionist there. Sasin hesitated, considering his options, and reviewing his priorities. He needed to find out where the shipments come out, and, more importantly, how often they came out. In other words, their schedule.

He started to walk slowly, thinking all the while. They were on the second tier. He wasn't certain, but there could possibly be a back door. The problem was, not only did he not know where it was, he didn't know if there even was one in the first place. Going in might confirm just where the door, if there was one, would be. He doubted it would be in plain sight, but he could probably deduce where it was not. And the guards had already seen him. Leaving, then coming back would be somewhat suspicious.

On the other hand, if he went up to the receptionist, there was no garrantee that he would be able to get in. She might well reject his requests to go in, and he would be nowhere. Furthermore, he doubted it was everday a man came up and asked to be shown into the Miza mint. That could leave a big footprint. People could link him to the heist, and that could well get him arrested.

Still, that was the best option. He continued walking at the same pace, slowly strolling up to the receptionist. "I need to get in." He said calmly, as if he had every right. He paused for a minute, and cocked his head to the side. "I haven't seen you around. You must be new, so I'll spell it out for you. I'm a close friend of one of the workers, and I need to talk to him. Now."

This had better work.

The receptionist was a tiny woman. She looked well into her forties however, as she lifted her head from where she was writing in a ledger and smiled at Sasin. Human, though of mixed blood, Melysa was a veteran of the mint, having worked here since she was just over the tender age of thirteen. Twenty two of those years had been sitting at the desk working on account books. This... was not the sort of greeting she was accustomed too. Nor was it a very convincing one.

"No one gets in."
She said equally calmly. "I've been here twenty two years as this receptionist. I haven't seen you around either." Melysa said, her eyes glancing over to the guards who suddenly seemed to come alert. One actively reached to rest his hand down on the pommel of his sword. "Who's your friend? It's very possible to ask him if he'll come talk to you if there's an emergency, but no one gets in without identification. And if you don't know what sort of identification is required, your not one that belongs behind those doors anyhow." The woman said, quite sensibly.

He groaned inwardly as the receptionist brushed him off. "Well," He thought "it was worth a try. " Scowling, he snapped "Oh fine then. I'll go wait outside." He grumbled. "Well, that was totally useless."He thought.

Walking out of the castle, he considered his options. His best bet was to go find the secret exit. He thought, wondering how to get there.

(Sorry for the short post. Not sure what else to do. )

The receptionist shrugged, glanced at the Knights guarding the entrance to made sure of they noted Sasin's appearance. The whole situation spelled trouble and was suspicious as a Zith party raiding in broad daylight on the streets of Syliras. One guard, after Sasin disappeared, slipped back inside the mint and spoke with the other guards before reappearing. They resumed their stations with a shrug, the rest of the security team having been alerted by now.

Secret exits by their very nature were secret. Sasin would have to start looking somewhere, and while the Mint was on the ground floor technically, it would take some careful observation and notation by the Dhani to even get an idea of where the mint was in regard to the outside and even more hard work to decide if there was a secret entrance or not.
