This is the first step to starting a lore article. Please hold all conversations about lores here in this forum. No development takes place here ie Article posting. This forum is simply for threads that want to hash out what a lore should or shouldn't include as well as its merits and flaws. One can also gauge interest in new lore here as well. Polls are encouraged.

Is there a place for submissions? Maybe the current population can contribute to the staff effort of filling some of this information in, submit it, and the staff can edit it as they see fit?

Feel free to develop in a World Development thread.
Just title the thread something like...

[Discussion/Development] Underwater Basketweaving
[New Group?] The Haunted

Then use the thread to start working on your idea. When you feel its ready - we'll give it a thorough looking at and make suggestions or give you the okay to throw it up in the wiki. ;0 What are you thinking of submitting?

Uhm, I would very much appreciate some information about the skills of Wilderness Survival and Theology. The first because I don't have a clue what it's about and the last because it's important for my PC.

If someone could get to it anytime soon, that would be very nice (but not too soon is also fine)! :)

I hope this thread can also be used to leave thank yous?

Thanks, Voreasos, for adding a general idea. :D

And thanks as well to Gillar for the very lengthy description about the skill! Haven't read it yet, but looks like there's a lot of useful and interesting stuff in it. It's just awesome!

I just wanted to throw a note in here for Malia... that I sorta envisioned there not being a theology skill per say. The reason being, most theologians study religion in depth and know the ins and outs of the structures of churches, their history, etc. We don't really have organized religions - other than the various groups like the Cult of Ano or the Stormwardens. Mainly, religion should be applied as lore. If you know about something you have a lore in it. So say you want your PC to be well versed in the deities, you simply start on the list and perhaps do a thread where they study about each one, thinking about them, talking to people that follow them or have gnosis marks... until your PC has an extensive list of Lores. You don't need to be part of the Cult of Ano to have a lore of them... nor do you have to worship a god to know about them... just go find out about them from someone who's versed in them.

The scholar priest in Syliras, for example, has multiple gnosis marks and multiple lores of various gods and goddesses. He's probably the closest to a theologian we have there. I'm sure there's tons of people in Zeltiva that are the same way.. .or especially Nyka when that gets developed. Nyka's ruled by a bunch of half-breed godlings.

Thanks for that note, Gossamer! :)

Sounds more reasonable to me, since Theology isn't really about practical knowledge anyway. I'll look for another skill for my starting package and change my CS.

First, so far Mizahar is fantastic. The great environment already started is growing! I know it is a tremendous undertaking by the staff designers and administrators. Thanks.

Since we are rolling along now, just wondering how Acquired Skills will work?

Abashai- If you give us an example, we can explain? I'm not sure what you mean by 'acquired skills' exactly. I'm going to try and take a stab at it, but if you're meaning something entirely different, let me know!

Okay, say your PC doesn't have a cooking skill at all. Yet, you have to eat right? You rp putting a pot of water onto your nifty little fireplace hook in your Traveler's Row rented room (or campfire in the wilds, or tent brazier, etc) and throw in some vegetables, seasonings, and meat (you got at the market, gathered in the wild, stole from PC X the poor guy!) and attempted to make yourself some stew. You get credit for it! We'll give you anywhere from 1 - 5 XP per activity when your done with a thread, and they add up tremendously as you play the game... so though you didn't take cooking as a starting package skill, you can still turn out to be a better cook over the course of game play as your character progresses.

This is a good way to learn on-the-go skills like horseback riding or hunting. You simply (as you get the XP awards - so when your done with a thread, be sure to nudge someone to award it XP!) add it as you get it to your character sheet (thats why we make you keep records).

And obviously someone with a cooking of 0 - that stew isn't going to be the greatest, compared to say someone with a cooking of 80... you know, you might just do anything to get a taste of it.. :)

I hope that helps?

Also, if you want to flesh out any skills for the wiki.... say desert bolo throwing or something odd that no one has thought of, feel free to do so via the World Development Forum. Once we think its wonderfully perfect, we'll invite you (or offer to do it for you) to add it to the wiki. :)

Thanks Goss, thats' exactly what I meant! The difference between starting skills and acquired skills are mentioned in the Rules category on skills, as being part of the upcoming Skill Guide.

Thanks again,
