8th night of Winter 511 AV

That could have been one of the most distracting baths that Bob had taken in a long time. Someone had to have the nerve to outright that he was stinks. He thought that people in Syliras still be as civilized as he remembered but there were always changes to account for especially after years. What else could have changed? In the streets Bob could still see the knights clamoring around with their armour giving off airs which he still despised and thinking of knights he decided to try calling some of those he knew or at least squires that knew should have already become knights by now. Which was why he sent out messages for them as soon as he entered the city to meet him in the Stallion around dinnertime. If he did not do that he probably would have put off his bath until the next day or possibly the day he was supposed to depart to Alvadas too.

Because Bob was just strange that way, just like the messages he sent out. He never trusted knights unless they were his friends so he gave them special messages that only they would know how to read. On the paper, Bob drew big circles which almost took up the whole thing on one side. For the first one which behind he put its recipient as Xalet who taught Bob a lot, he drew around the focus anything that would be seen as hot such as fire and the sun. Symbols of the trigger he fit into the instructions that "you already know how to read the message, just like that hot summer day" they met. Too complicated a method to be used especially since Bob has not done any glyphing for so long so its no surprise that the akalak never showed up if he even was able to decipher it at all. Finishing off, the djed that Bob has been focusing into his eyes were released to send an image into the glyph. One crisp and clear that would flash out to its reader to show the Rearing Stallion that Bob passed by on his way through the city that day or at least its sign since he could not be bothered to fit every tiny detail of the building for one short glimpse.

The same was done with the other recipient Andresciel and Bob also drew a large circle. That was the only similarities the messages shared because Bob knew that the knight was actually a mage knight. Unlike the squire, he should have known what the glyphs do. With the letter 'B' all around it as barriers to spell out Bob if read in a certain way, no one would guess that the trigger was actually fit at the top when it said "From" Bob." The way the message was given was also different for Andresciel because he seems less of one of those people who needed to experience things like the akalak. Instead of the eyes, Bob sent his djed to his mouth and when it was enough brought his mouth close to the glyph to make sure that when he said "Rearing Stallion, tonight" it would be received loud and clear in the knight's mind even if it would be a thought in his own voice. Bob had no reason to doubt that the glyphs would hold the magic long enough seeing that if its recipients did not get it the same day, it would defeat the purpose of the entire message.

Now all Bob had to do was wait for his buddies, at a table in the Stallion with some dinner. His own fault since he only said night and not the exact time but he was not going to suffer in hunger because of it. Even when he was eating he was starting to twitch because his bad habits were coming again, thinking if he should get into a game or two while waiting. Nothing to worry about in Stallion because he knew that the knights were always watching.

Andresciel inspected the glyph, understanding the basic concept as he felt the magic become released. "Rearing Stallion, Tonight." The Mage Knight thought as he rose from his place in the barracks, stalking out and into the town. His cloak was close around him, nearly hiding the armor of the mage knight as he pushed into the stallion, his dark blue eyes moving over the crowd until he spotted Bob.

He made his way silently to his friend, having a hunch that the message was from him, "Greetings my friend. Did you seek my company?" He asked, sitting near the other with a sigh, "Or do you just want a knight around to keep you from getting into too much trouble?" He teased.

Now just what kind of a greeting was that? Did Andresciel really think that Bob was only interested in using the knight? He could have easily kept out of trouble on his own, or try. While waiting in the tavern he only got dangerously close to it but it was his friend's own fault for making him wait.

At first it was the twiddling of thumbs and then asking for a drink. The problem was that a drink could only last so long before Bob started looking around the tavern. Watching how all the other people in Syliras especially those other unfun knights were compared to those free spirited people in Sunberth that he just left. Out of all of them there was this one man who was brooding over a table and when he looked at Bob, the dwarf just smiled. Not because he was nice but because he knew that whatever it was that was happening, Bob was a lot more better off.

The man knew it too. Almost immediately, he stood up and stared straight at Bob looking to vent his frustrations which Bob would only give a yawn for his efforts. When he stepped off and seemed to head towards him, Bob knowingly gave another smile and pointed towards a group of the knights he saw earlier. Thinking that the man was not dissuaded yet he gave a quick gesture after that with his thumb going along his neck to try and scare him off and proceeded to ignore the man until Andresciel came.

Which brought them to where they were and why there was a big man glaring right at their table which Bob was still ignoring. That being the case "maybe its a little of both" he replied gesturing at the chair. "So how has Syliras been treating you? I've only a day or two and would like to spend it with an old friend if you have any suggestions" such as not gambling and looking like he was trying to escape debt on his eventual departure.

"Syliras treats all wizards the same, my friend." Andre chuckles as he sat down across from the man, glancing up as he spoke. He looked around before speaking lowly "You could come with me to the temple of Yahal, or maybe out on a few rounds." The Knight suggested, having had to walk the long route from the castle, to avoid the other knights had had no taste for. "As for other things, mayhaps a ride in the land around Syliras?"

"Oh sure they treat them all the same" Bob said with disgust "in case you forgot what happened to me the last time" with some random guy screwing him over. Idiots really should not have any power for themselves if that incident was as good evidence as any. Even more idiotic was the suggestion that Bob goes to the temple since "I don't see why you people like these gods so much." What did they ever do for mortals anyway? "What did Yahal every do for you?" Bob asked with a laugh though the tone he did it would suggest that it was not much of a joke. Whatever the answer, Bob was expecting one that would not be too satisfactory or Andresciel might have made a believer of him years ago.

The rest of the suggestions, "a few rounds and a ride sounds good. I've not been in Syliras for so long I need a refresher" he agreed and finished off his drink so that there will be nothing left to keep him back. Some people never grow out of their childhood just like Bob who remarked that "it'll be like playing knights for a day" only this one was real and no one would be stupid enough to mistake Bob as a knight. At least he would be following a real one that can "lead the way."

The Knight smiled as his small friend, shaking his head as he stood. He tilted his head, speaking softly to Velenor, "This one is a friend. Be kind Vel.", the tongue of Nader Canoch flowed from his mouth, before he heard Velenors reply. "Yes Andre". The Air-headed creature always followed Andre's orders, because Andre was the more dutiful of the two. This did not mean, however, that shiny things did not distract the Avavali.

Andre turned now, waving his hand towards the door, "Come. I am headed to the Temple of All Gods now, my friend." He stepped out the door of the Stallion and onto the streets, his form moving quietly through the crowd to await Bob outside, Velenor floating around his head. The small Avavali creature shifted as he stepped into the sunlight, into a small black bird that glided along, beating its wings every so often.

The light from the sun glittered off his armor, despite it being hidden partially by his black cloak. A Flash of a memory, the sound of a loving voice, "Go Andre. Find your grandmother.". His hand came up, touching his head, "What in the..." The Knight blinked, trying to place the voice. It was his memory, of that he could be sure, but when? It must have been before the accident that caused his amnesia. But the male's voice brought joy to Andre's heart.

Oh look, no explanation of Yahal. Typical from someone religious that they will think that others will just buy into whatever. Worse still if it was Yahal. From what little Bob knew about him, Yahal was one of those boring gods bringing to his popularity among the knights. "Well?" he asked still expecting an explanation but Andresciel just looked down and started mumbling to himself. How was he going to make a believer of others if he had no idea about how to portray his god or has no confidence in him?

But that was satisfactory to Bob who was not really going to care about the answers. Crossing his arms because earlier "I thought we were going riding?" and not to the temple to feed Andresciel and Yahal's ego, he watched while the knight walked out the door. Sighing because he did not want to go there, Bob reluctantly exited to find his so called friend. Perhaps to remind him about what he said earlier or try and convince him about something else. Something that would also need a little nudge because even if the man was a friend, he was still a knight.

And the little nudge will come with the help of his djed. Shutting his eyes and trying to breath at an even pace, Bob started to focus on his djed. Using the pace he felt with his breath, the djed came little by little towards his mouth before a whole lot of it rushed when the sound of something crashing reached his ears and panicked him. "Stupid morons." Look what they done. Bob had a lot more than he wanted. Alright, alright...just take it slow...breath...little by little all the way to the door...there. Bob thinks that he had a manageable amount left after sending some of the djed back. Still all of it would not have happened if he concentrated properly.

Still doing his best to maintain his composure while acknowledging"it wouldn't be appropriate to go to the temple together. The gods we follow are too different," the term follow being used loosely it was a fact that one was a holier than thou boring pants and the other pair only pops up to try and help the situation? That was the best way for him to think how "Yahal and Kelwyn are just too different" without making the twins look worse than the other god because after what they did for him, he could not dislike them like he did the rest of the higher powers. And thinking of powers did not help him much in keeping his own concentrated at his mouth.

Being such good friends, Bob was struggling not because "I wouldn't want something as trivial as religion to cause some problems between is" but because he could not focus on holding the djed. Already the noise was getting to him. The way he pleaded this was quite sincere but it was not for the reasons he expressed. It was because Bob really did not want to go to the temple. Finally he released the djed as he said "why don't I help you patrol. Dispense some knightly justice? Just think of me as your squire for the day." he suggested hitting himself on the chest.

At the same time the djed did an attack on the knight's senses. While he will still see Bob, he will get a the djed will emulate a faint, distant scream for help like that of a woman in Andresciel's ears. While Bob was not sure if it would work it was his firm belief that the knights, even a friend would be too pig headed to be persuaded to do anything unless it was something that suddenly required action.

The Knight glanced down at Bob, nodding to his words, "Alright. I'll head to the Temple later on." He stated, an instant before the scream came to his ears. His head snapped up, his blue eyes glancing around, "Well Squire Bob, shall we go rescue a Damsel?" He chuckled as he pulled his hood up over his head, turning to walk down the street, in the direction of the scream. Velenor floated along beside him, watching Bob without blinking. One could almost hear the accusation since Velenor hadn't heard the scream, and was worried about his Knight Friend. Velenor's words whispered to Andre, "No Scream. Where we go?" He asked softly, his friend before Andre stopped, glancing up at Velenor. Curious as to what he meant.

Then, his mind flashed back to one of the books on magic in the castle's library, causing him to turn towards Bob. "I want an honest answer Bob. Did you just use magic on me?" He asked, his voice rough, low, almost like he was insulted. "Is it because I was going to the temple? Gods, Bob. All you had to do was say something, We could have went on a patrol near Pavi Lake." He stated, "Or work on your glyphing"

Success! Even after so long, Bob still knew how knights think. They were a lot simpler than the animals that he had to work with in Sunberth thank the gods. Throw a bone, or in this case some action with a troubled soul and they will be all for helping. Whether or not there truly will be a damsel in distress after that, it was still better than going to the temple and Bob gladly said "sure, where is she?" Even if he was in a rush and accidentally left out a few important details like which direction to go to, the eager knight seemed please to fill it out himself. Very smart. If it was Jinsen, Bob would have given it a pat in the head for being such a "good dog."

Unfortunately Andresciel proved smarter than the dog, or actually Bob was stupid for not playing the catch up game after a long time. That stupid familiar. Bob decided that the knight made a guess or a poor joke. Instead of telling the truth, he decided to tell a lie in the most lost face he could use that "I don't know what you're talking about? Nothing needed burning today" since he had no way of knowing that there really was something like the familiar assisting Andresciel. However the tone of the knight's voice allowed Bob to feel that something was off. He needed to try and fix things fast. Another go at the hypnosis? No. That was what got him into this mess.

More lies is the answer but Bob should have thought it through a lot more than quickly saying with all the details he should not know "I've already decided to follow you wherever today. If you know a damsel, we should go quickly. I could use one for the night before I need to go off again. The black widow in my group is already attached if you know what I mean" with a grin. Bob was really caught up in his lie now and continued on like he has not been found out suggesting that "if you really want her Andre, you can call dibs. I can be your wingman. She screamed at that direction right?" Gah why did he do that? Now Andresciel will be sure that Bob had something to do with it when he enthusiastically said "let's hurry."

Now Bob was on a roll. He was in such a mood that he decided to tell a lie even when he knew that the truth will be in his best interests. "There's nothing wrong with the temple. I just haven't been there for a long time. If you want we can go there after become heroes to the lady." It was only after all that he caught on what he was saying. What was he saying?! No way he was going to go there and hopefully Andresciel will not be too angry at everything to not grant his pitiful request when he said "gods still make me uncomfortable...so maybe the Pavi Lake will be better" although glyphing sounded a lot better. Bob could remind his friend about that again if things got boring but right now with Andresciel being suspicious, the lake seemed less demanding.
