OOCAnyone who wants to come to the library and chat about politics, Zeltivan pride, and artistic designs is free to join. Any IC input made by other characters will be incorporated into Tock's statue design. Or you can just chat and share your opinions about political matters.

Tock limped into the library, still feeling an ache in her wounded leg. Two days ago, she'd been attacked in the streets by a group of thugs, and been saved by her new friend Bones. He'd protected her and saved her life, but she'd still taken a deep gash to her leg during the fight. Her friend Iris had tended to it, stitching the wound up and healing it with her power granted by Rak'keli. As a result the skin was closed, but still sore and raw. While she wasn't bleeding anymore, the wound hurt, and her muscles were stiff with pain.

Her boss had given her a couple of days off work to recover from the injury, so she had decided to take advantage of that to get some work done on her statue design. She hadn't yet figured out what it was going to be... other than a tribute to the pride and glory of her adopted home, Zeltiva. That, and a big tall landmark she could use so she wouldn't get lost.

She made her way to the history section and started pulling down books. She needed some inspiration. She didn't know where to begin, so she picked out a scattered selection of books on Zeltivan history, politics, commercial exploits, culture, and anything else she could find about what made Zeltiva, 'Zeltiva'.

She laid the books out across one of the long tables, opening them up to a random selection of pages. She hadn't a clue what to look for, so she started just by studying the pictures. Sketches of the city from times far gone, drawings of former Lords of Council, family crests and pennants from various merchant families, and anything rose she could find.

It was a lot to sort through. She frowned at all the book, tapping her fingers on the table. While she stood there, uncertain what to do, Handy, her wooden hand Automaton, climbed off her belt and crawled across the table on his fingers. He started randomly flipping through pages, and she just let him be for now. Maybe he'd stumble across something interesting...

The Zeltiva Library was an entirely different place! Here lied stories of the past and tales of inspiring individuals who aided in the creation and preservation of this favored city of human-kind. He never would have thought that he would stumble upon such a large number of books filled with knowledge about nearly everything his mind could muster. The thought of learning about this city persisted to fuel his curiosity and thus this how he found himself here.

Noaru was quite pleased with his surroundings, it was quiet and the air was still, if one was searching for a quiet place to gather their thoughts-- this would be such a place. He roamed this quiet yet bustling place unseen to the naked eye while his actions were quiet, his thoughts were loud!

Noaru Thought.
I wouldn't mind spending my eternity here!''

He walked through the library and materializes into view, he walks and greets those souls who were paying no attention to his corporal yet human form, something such as taking his human appearance wasn't something he had done in a while. He notices a young lady seemingly lost in her thoughts and as he walks over he sees something fairly interesting: a small being of sorts flipping through pages of a book and so being the curious soul that he was, goes to investigate!

Noaru speaks saying...Can I help you?’’

The Zeltivan Monument Series Part 5: The Design (OPEN)

Without looking up from her books to see who (or what) was addressing her, Tock replied, "Aye... whatcha done knows 'bout the 'ole... whatchacaller, politic stuff?" She was leading through a book on Zeltivan trade history, but it looked pretty dull. Lots of entries about food shipments and shortages and famines. That wasn't the sort of thing she wanted to put into her statue.

Meanwhile Handy spotted the... thing behind his Mommy and started pointing adamantly at it. The wooden hand pointed again and again, but Tock was grabbing another book, one that seemed to be about Zeltivan exports. That might be more interesting.

Handy started tapping her rapidly on the arm, pointing to the stranger and trying to get her attention. Unaware of anything 'unusual,' Tock just told the wooden hand, "Baby, stop! Mommy's working..." Handy froze in place, the glass eyes mounted on his wrist staring at the ghost.

Distractedly, Tock asked the 'man' behind her, "Ya lives in Zeltiva awhile? 'Ere done been lotsa stuff what I ain't known 'fore I gots 'ere... like 'spensive fish lady..."

Noaru mentioned to Tock. ’’Politics’ you say: hmm... Not much sadly, I ‘am aware of Zeltiva's University which should hold some political value. The harbor is well protected providing a stable flow of shipping supplies; someone or some group should be governing this city. So, I believe what I just mentioned are some great political examples as someone should be controlling Zeltiva's internal and external affairs.’’

He notices the small being watching him! The little one seemed slightly panicked about his appearance! Noaru had no intention of hurting someone today that is and so he walks over to the little being in front of him and since he didn't want to scare him, Noaru walks in a steady pace-- approaching and stopping next to the table by little being; he gives Handy a friendly grin before answering Tock.

Noaru speaks saying... ’’I've been here for quite sometime; though, I’ am not known for anything... yet.’’

"Hmm..." Tock muttered to herself. "Uni... 'arbor... protectin' the shippin'..." She jotted down some notes about what the stranger was saying, considering his words. She hadn't stopped to think before about the harbor and those that ran it being a political power. It made sense though... she vaguely remembered hearing people talk about the Administrative something or other of the Sailors' Guild, and the Regents something of the University. She had never paid much attention to politics before now, so she wasn't clear on the details.

She grabbed a book about the history of the Sailor's Guild, and started leafing through it, taking notes about their political influence and how their control over the shipping and trade gave them a great deal of power in Zeltiva. The historical examples: trade blockades, pressure from merchants on the city's trade decisions, and the city's over-dependence on imported food; could only give her so much information. She didn't understand half of what she was reading. Not only was she not a good reader, but talk of politics and trade and history just didn't click in her head. She was a builder, not a scholar...

Tapping her quill against her lips, she asked the stranger, "But who's like, all important an' stuff? I needs fer what's most at the 'eart o' Zeltiva...? Ain't jus' trade'n' books, izzit?"

She glanced over at him, and right through him into the bookshelf behind him. She blinked twice, and stared, her mind numbed with shock for just a moment... trying to wrap her head around the fact that she was discussing politics with a ghost!

Noaru speaks saying... ''Who's more important? It would be the leader or leaders of Zeltiva! They would control the simple things such as what their citizens needed and what should be handled in the city! The trade system is important since it will keep a steady income flowing into the city.''

He wasn't quite aware of the studies of politics, he just mentioned what he knew and saw which happened to be somewhat right, he wasn't sure but this information he relayed to Tock would at least help her some with what she was doing at least. The question he failed to ask was what she was doing exactly! However, when he notices the expression upon Tock's face, he became a tad bit concerned.

Noaru speaks saying...''Are you alright?''

OOC :
I invited Wart to join this thread, so she may be posting soon. And of course, it's also still open to anyone else who would like to join.

Also, I need to say, the different coloration of your dialogue still doesn't quite make the speaking parts fully clear. Dialogue in writing should always start and end in quotation marks, "Like this."

This wasn't the first time Tock had seen a ghost. She knew they existed. She knew they were real. But that didn't making seeing one any less unnerving.

The ghost said something about the leaders of Zeltiva. Tock wasn't entirely sure who the leader of Zeltiva was. She had only been here a season, and until recently, she had only vaguely paid any attention to politics. She remembered the fish lady, who must have been somebody important, what with the way she gave her big fancy speech and everyone listened to her. But she couldn't be the 'leader,' because the few times she HAD heard people talk about the leader, they had mentioned some 'Council Lord' something or another, so she figured the leader had to be a man. Maybe it was stampy guy.

But her mind only vaguely acknowledged these thoughts, because the ghost was asking her if she was all right.

"Ahh..." she stared for a moment in shock, then said, "I's... awright..." She slowly grabbed one of the books off the table, and threw it at the ghost's chest to see if it would pass right through him. "Is... YOU awright? Yous looks kinda... dead..." She was clearly in shock, staring wide eyed, yet somehow calm. Should she be screaming? She felt like she should be screaming.... a good scream sounded like a nice idea right now...

Secret :
That should do it! I'll try to become more descriptive when I'm having my character speak to yours.

Noaru speaks saying... ''Oh well, That's good to see that your alrigh... WHOA!?''

He sides to the left and avoids the book! He had a disturbed look upon his face and was a tad bit slightly confused to why a book was thrown at him. The idea came to him that the person in front of him probably wasn't used to seeing ghosts or probably was afraid of them, he didn't get angry but rather he understood... Well, sort of since he's been an earth bound spirit for so long and interacted with a few folk every-now and then, he would not have thought that now he would meet someone that's disturbed by him: it surely was a good idea that he took up his original appearance.

Noaru speaks again saying...''Okay! Now, we do not need to throw books at each other now, we were just having such a nice conversation! How about we just put the books down and we discuss about the matters at hand?''

He tried to persuade Tock into not throwing any books anymore. The last thing he wanted was to cause problems especially on the day he decides he wasn't going to cause trouble!

OOC :
Yes, that's definitely more clear.

She stared at the man... ghost... thing. Through the shock that was numbing her mind, she wondered whether the book would have hurt him. After all, he didn't look quite... solid. She could somewhat see through him, though it was a bit blurry. She peered through his chest at the bookshelf behind him. If she could SEE through him, shouldn't objects be able to move through him?

Yet he had dodged the book anyway. The scientist in her was curious now. Her curiosity was slowly overwhelming her fear.

She looked up at his eyes, still hesitant. "Ya... jus' wanna... talk politics?" she asked. A ghost that talked politics? So weird...

"Ya ain't what gonna... 'aunt me o' possess me o' somethin'?" she asked, stepping closer. She reached her finger out and tried, slowly and gently, to poke him in the chest.

Politics. Right. Her statue. She kept pushing her finger forward, to see if it would push right through his chest, and in a voice numb with shock she asked, "Whazzat 'bout, the docks... an'... 'portant shippin'... an'... stuff...?" She was distracted, and not thinking straight. But she remembered they had been talking about the important powers in Zeltiva. Though she still wanted to see if she could push right through him...

''Yes! Politics and whatever else intrigues your mind!''

This was a first for him! A human trying to touch him, it was odd and a tad bit funny at the same. The person in front of him was at first nervous about him, throwing a book at him and all but now is trying to touch him: funny how thing turn out huh? Being the spirit that he was, he couldn't but be somewhat curious about the person in front of him! Who was she? And what was this odd person’s objective in life?

''Nah, you've shown me that you have a good heart! I won't possess or haunt you.''

Tock would find that Noaru was quite solid since he materialized and wanted to interact with the physical world! Noaru chest felt cold to the touch, it was a respectable kind of cold similar to holding a small ice cube in the palm of your hand. And the way his soulmist pulsated through his ghostly body; it felt as if he was alive and beating with life.
