Iris shifted her body left to try and find something that could slow down the bleeding on Bones' wound. Inside of the healer's medical kit rested a handful of sugar. That was a very useful way to slow down the bleeding before stitching.
The Konti reached her left hand downward and grabbed the handful of sugar lifting it just over Bones' leg and sprinkling it over the wound. Back at the opal temple Iris had learned this useful way to slow bleeding.
"Don't worry Bones, this isn't painful."
But using salt would have had a sting. Iris rubbed the sugar all over the wound to spread it. Her pale palm got some of Bones' blood on it. Iris reached back into the medical kit and pulled out some silk thread. She said to Bones.
"This one is going to hurt some. Grab that white rag in my kit and press it down on your wound until I have the stitching supplies ready."
The healer slowly started to pull some of the thread back. She's done this for one other person in Zeltiva, Tock. Iris stitched up what Tock claimed was a rock gash. Iris believed her. She had no other choice because she had not seen an axe cut. But now Iris saw a deep stab wound and it looked similar to Tock's axe stab.
That was something Iris had to deal with another time. She had the thin needle ready. Pushing the thread through the end of the needle slowly Iris missed it twice. This made her angry. She got it the third.
"Hard to explain? Why would we need to explain anything in any CASE? It's my room."
Iris flashed Bones a smile shifted her blue eyes up to meet his gaze.
