Beasts and the Almost-People (Dex)

Rhy chews the question over thoughtfully. What does she do for fun? Today hasn't been particularly grand, and no fun was had. That must be remedied. A thought passes through her mind, leaving behind an impish smile and an idea. "I play games for fun. Why don't you play a game with me?" She taps her lip absentmindedly, now fully engrossed in planning this new game. "How about... a game of chase?" She points one long finger down the clifside towards the bay, her smile changing from impish to positively wolfish. "If you can get to the dock before I can catch you, you win. Ah, I'm not sure what you win, mind you, I guess you can pick." "And rules," she muses, "rules will be... no flying cats." She motions to the sleeping Howlwing with the back of her hand and winks, "don't think you'll get away that easy." "What do you say? Play a game with me!"

[Dex]

Dex looked down at Howlwing and back at the girl. “I’m sure no flying cats won’t be a problem. You’re on!” Dex changed right there, flashing into ferret form. Unfortunately, Howlwing was still in his lap, which was quite a bit more awkward than when he had had a human lap. It took him a moment to squirm onto his front paws, and then to yank his body out from underneath. Lucky him, she still had to take her clothes off to change, which gave him a small head start. He was off! Scrabbling across the grassy park field, he took off like a shot. The wind rushed through his fur, every piece of it starting to tingle in excitement and energy. A tree loomed up in front of him. He turned ever so slightly to the right, running up the tree trunk and running almost parallel to the ground on the side of it before righting himself and continuing along the ground. He turned back to see how close the girl was … Petch!

Rhy sits there in shock for three long seconds as the fully clothed male shifts to his ferret form. Just like that, the laws of nature slap her in the face. Now she has to win. If she does she can ask him to teach her the ways of the magical shifting. Unless his clothes are sewed into his skin, or other such gruesome nonsense, in which case she will happily flit around naked for the rest of her life. But the shock eventually passes, and she jumps to her feet. She's got a ferret to catch! And gods forbid she lets herself get beat by a furry rodent. She catches sight of him running for a tall tree and her prey drive kicks in. She lets loose a deafening bark from her human throat, and leaps forward. The wild haired girl becomes a tall brindled dog before she hits the ground. The ferret makes a leap for a tree and Rhy contents herself to follow underneath, but her eyes are locked on and her maw gaped in case he decides to fall. Unfortunately he never does, but he come back down eventually, and its only a few feet in front of the wide eyed dog. She kicks into high speed to close the gap, and following wherever he goes she proceeds to destroy every flowerbed and shrub thats in her way.

Being Socially awkward. Additional Note: Rhy, your writing is great but you need to watch your tenses. You often write present tense then past tense in the same post. You need to stick to all one tense, past tense, when you write here! Technically Ferrets aren’t rodents they are mustelids. Also you should both know you’d instantly recognize another kelvic. Dex, I hope to see longer posts from you in the future. And its really too bad this thread couldn’t have continued on. .
