Greetings all!

As introductions are in order, this is mine. You can call me Denn -- it's short and easy to spell. I am most probably older than anyone on this board, but I'm okay with that as long as the rest of you are. Some other boards I've been on had some of the members get a bit freaked on the idea, which was unfortunate. There's no age limit on imagination, or a desire for a little escape and fun!

I've been role-playing a long time, first on table-top D&D (yonkies ago), then the last 5 years or so online. I've always done play-by-post, never tried email, chat or MMO type RPing. I am not a writer; I am more of a visual person. I have a BA with a double major in Art and Theatre, and an MFA in Theatre Technical Design. To be really official, I also have an Associate's degree in Mechanical Drafting (go ProE!) but saying I have an AAS degree just sounds.... gacky.

As I said above, I don't consider myself a writer, never really enjoyed writing that much, but I do LOVE role-playing (nee 'playing pretend'). You will find I feel most comfortable playing really "normal" characters, not heroes. I love both fantasy and historical RP's, have tried both types of sites and enjoyed myself for brief amounts of time. Unfortunately, those sites became burdened by towering egos, cliques and cronyism which I have... very little tolerance for. I adore the fact that Mizahar is run by a group (The Founders) rather than one or two zealous individuals who get overloaded, burnt out and lash out. Share the load and talent and all that makes for a very healthy board environment.

I found Mizahar by way of "RPG Gateway" and I'm just completely impressed. I love the collaboration, the ability of ordinary members to contribute to the mythology of the board, and so far the LACK of egos getting in the way of good cooperative play. I look forward to exploring your world more, and becoming a part of it.

I dunno... I'm pushing 40 in my mid thirties and I know Abashai is pushing 75? 80? *ducks* We love older writers and are glad to have them around. It will be great to have a non-writer roleplaying lover around. And well, Abashai needs a female equivalent since all the boys have a great mentor but the girls are rather lacking. ;0 Its nice to see all the education too. Guys, that means she knows what shes talking about... so beware!

We try to discourage cronyism and towering egos. Cliques are annoying to me (highly highly so) but I've found there's very little you can do about them... other than make sure the buddy system doesn't go too far. We designed Mizahar as a place for us to have fun writing and roleplaying... nothing more nothing less. For myself, its hard to have an ego when your just a plain old redneck.

Jen, as usual, is entirely correct. We love older writers, though they don't get much older than me (hits the sarcasm button because he's like 12). Anyway, I'm one of those weirdos that finds an extensive education and interesting career delightful. I like the Mechanical Drafting AS, its a nice addition.

Anyway, that is pretty much it. I noticed Jen's reply to this, read it, and found you fascinating enough to actually post here.

Sorry this is a little disjointed, it is currently 2:15 in the morning and I am barely lucid. I hope we might hold a discussion in chat.

Age here is relative, and is judged more on maturity level than by chronological means. . And Goss you should duck! *tosses bottle of geriatric vitamins*.

Welcome Denn, it's great to have people who hate towering egos and the like - that was always the problem I found with other RP sites, especially those really despicable ones that tried to classify your writing talent and place you in groups according to your accomplishments in writing... -shudders- -cough-LK-cough-

Abashai, do you still have your little metal figures? I do, nicely stored away in an old tacklebox. I think my character sheets are folded at the bottom, getting a little yellow. Lost my dice though -- one of the beagles got ahold of them -- two were chewed and the rest went through the digestive tract. Didn't really want to resurrect THOSE.
