World's End Grotto

ImageSeated just above the docks in a small cluster of foothills, the World's End Grotto provides temporary rooms for wanderers and visitors to Zeltiva. It has a strange appearance, almost at odds with the buildings around it. It's a ramshackle array of stones and blocks, and has a mini stable to one side with room to house four horses.

Rooms are extremely good value, and the inn can provide food and drink too. There are thirty five small rooms in total, and a communal lounge area on the bottom floor where patrons can chat, eat, and drink.

Some Zeltivan citizens come to the Grotto just to eat or drink - the refreshments and social lounge are open to everyone, not just those staying in its rooms.

The inn has been renovated numerous times over the years, but at its heart and soul, the establishment has stood since the pre-Valterrian era of Mizaharian history. As a result, it is enmeshed deeply in Zeltivan life, and is one of the most well known establishments in the city.

The young proprietor of the World's End Grotto took control of the business from her parents at the age of twenty three. Despite her youth, she is an extremely able manageress, with a team of six staff under her.

She likes the personal touch, spending much of her time front of house, making new guests welcome. And it seems her customers are grateful for that, since the Grotto is always busy.

53rd Day of Spring, 512
Sirrus stumbled upon the inn, in the same place it had been 2 years before. He looked over to the proprietor, Serra Danalle. He walked up to the counter where she was.

"Hello...I'm new in town, may I have a room?" he said, kindly.

"Of course, that'll be 2 SM a night." Serra replied.

Sirrus quickly reached into his bag, retrieving 1 GM. She quickly returned the change, and handed him the room keys.

"Breakfast is 5CM, dinner is 1SM." She added.

"Tha-thank you." He quickly left for his room, where he set down his things, and rested for the night.

After wandering for a long while, Nadiya entered the inn she was told to find. When she did, she soon found that there was people milling about around the entrance way. A soft frown tugged at her lips, easily keeping her emotions from showing through her eyes. Something most of her kind found annoying, since they were all open to others of what they were feeling. As for Nadi, she just found it embarrassing for someone to know what she was feeling through her eyes. Shaking her head, the young woman slowly made her way through the people, excusing herself here and there, when she ended up bumping into a few people. When she finally reached the front of the desk, a young woman, one that looked almost as her age or so, looked up and gave a smile to Nadiya. "Hello! Welcome to World's End Grotto. My name is Serra, I'm the current owner of the inn. How may I help you today?

Nadi stared at her for the longest time, then soon gave a soft smile on her face in return. Her sapphire orbs watching her, as she stood there. "I like to rent a room, if that is alright. For one week's worth time." Not much of a good choice, but she had no idea how long she was going to be here, and it was better to spend a week's worth, then just one night. Serra's smile widen more at that, and nodded her head as she spoke in a polite tone. "Of course! That will be a total of 14 SM then. To let you know, breakfast will cost 5 CM and a main meal we serve near evening at dinner time, will cost you 1 SM."

Nad would nod her head, that soft smile not there anymore as she looked around herself when she spoke up in answer. "Understood. I like to have a main meal added of per the days then to my cost." Serra nodded her head, and reached out to take the two gold Mizas that Nadi handed to her. The change she got back, was a mix of silver and copper. Placing it into her pack, with the rest of her money, the woman would soon hand her a key with a number on it. "Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your stay there in Zeltiva." Nadiya didn't say anything back at first, just smile and nod her head. Though instead of going to look for her room, she decided to leave the inn, making her way out of the inn and back in the streets.

Although she should check her room, she believed it was better to look around the city while she still can. Now, where should she go first. Not knowing which direction was what, the young woman just turned left as she headed down the street with her ponytail bobbing up and down with each step she took.

81st of Fall 512 AV

After walking around for what felt like a long time in the city, Ritz finds an Inn that seemed promising enough to stay in temporarily. Her feet were so sore she thought they might fall off at any given moment. She stared at the Inn's sign for a long moment before thinking silently to herself and trying to calculate the amount of mizas she could spare. However her thoughts were interrupted as she shivered.

"Gaaah! It's freezing!" She thought loudly to herself. And without another thought she rushed inside, eager to get out of the cold and into the warmth hopefully. As she stepped in a young looking woman greeted her. Ritz's icy blue gaze looked towards the young woman and nodded to her quietly. The young woman seemed to be at a desk. Ritz glanced around the room, and guessed the where the woman was at was the front desk. So Ritz walked up quietly to the desk, turning her full attention to the young woman now.

"Hello. If there is any room....I'd like ten days worth of a room, please ma'am." Ritz spoke quietly, but just loud enough to be heard without disturbing anyone else that may have been in the lobby.

"Certainly. That will be a total of twenty mizas please." The young woman said kindly, a smile never seeming to leave her expression. Ritz nodded in reply, and took the backpack that was slung over her shoulders, off and opened it up. Then the woman spoke up again and added: "Oh! And if you would like breakfast it is five copper mizas, and the main meals here are one silver mizas which are served at dinner time." Ritz nodded again, not looking up. Taking out a gold mizas to cover the cost of the room, then spoke quietly again.

"Thank you. But for now...just a room will do ma'am." Ritz closed her backpack, and re-slung it over her thinning shoulders. Then handing the woman the money as the woman in turn handed Ritz her change. Ritz then bowing her head politely left the lobby without another word, looking for the room. She had no intention of making a conversation right now, only wanting to rest after a long travel to get here. If the woman had introduced herself, Ritz hadn't paid attention to it. After walking a little bit further, Ritz came to the room and used the key to unlock it. Opening the door and shuffling inside, then quickly closing and locking it up once inside. She closed her eyes, and rested her forehead against the door. Straining her ears for any sounds that might be in the room. But none came that she noticed. Taking a deep breath though, she opened her eyes again.

"So.. Tired.." Ritz thought to herself. She looked around in the room, and walked in a slow circle for the longest moment. An old habit perhaps? It didn't matter. After a moment or two, she slowly took off her backpack setting it near the bed. Then she took off her worn shoes. It felt so good to have the irritating shoes off. There were blisters on her feet after all. The room, thankfully, was warmer then outside. Looking out the window from where she stood showed her that it was still daylight, but soon to be dark. Turning her gaze from the window, Ritz moved towards the bed. Would it be soft? She hoped so, because she was sore from head to toe. And a soft bed sounded like the best thing in the world right about now. Unable to stop herself from smiling widely at that thought, she slowly went and sat on the bed. In the back of her mind, she feared it was a dream.

"If this is a dream.... Please... Don't wake me up!"She sighed as the thought seemed to scream in her head. Sitting on the bed was the best feeling she had felt for some time now. It was indeed soft, but firm enough to give support to one's back. That was a bonus Ritz thought. She then slowly began to lay down, part of her afraid it would somehow vanish out from under her. A silly fear maybe, but Ritz was cautious of it nonetheless. Once laying fully on the soft bed, she didn't bother to cover up as she felt too happy to do anything else. Sleep soon taking her conscious mind, slipping into dreams.

"..Zzz...zzzzz...zzzzz..." Ritz snores faintly as she slept.

Ritz wasn't sure how long she had been asleep. But she bolted upright, sitting. And even shouted incoherently two names. Breathing hard as cold sweat had beaded onto her facial features. The same nightmare. About that day. Always the same one. And the main reason she never stayed asleep too long. As she sat there looking around the unfamiliar room wildly, it took her several moments to realize where she even was.

"Zeltiva.. Oh yeah.." She muttered to herself. Slowly shaking her head, then drawing her knees up to her chest as she attempted to calm her breathing. Ritz's body was shaking, and she still felt the raw fear of the nightmare. She buried her face into her knees, feeling her eyes swelling up with hot tears. She missed her family terribly, and the thing that took them was still somewhere roaming freely. And was no match for it, she knew. A pang of frustration and regret seeped into her. But as quickly as these emotions had started, a sudden feeling of numbness came over. Pushing out the other emotions, long enough for Ritz to regained her composure. She straightened up slowly, then wiped the tears away that had spilled over her eyes. Shaking her head again, she moved off the soft bed. Flinching as her feet made protests like none she had felt before now.

"Gaaah! Blasted...blisters!" She said irritably, trying to keep her voice down. Her stomach groaned sharply at that moment, and she paused thinking briefly. When was the last time she had eaten anything? She wasn't too sure. But nonetheless, she walked over to the backpack that laid nearby. Wincing a little bit as the blisters over her feet made walking rather painful now. She sits down with her legs sprawling out in front of her as she pulls her backpack closer to open it. Once it was open she begins taking things out. A bit of flint and steel was on top. She moved it out and set it aside. Next she took out a razor, a waterskin that was almost empty, a comb, a brush, her mother's heirloom as she sets it down gently. Finding the stash of rations she took out as small a portion she could and quickly scarfs it down, not bothering to taste it as she needed something just to stop the rumbling in her stomach. As she was about to put everything back, Ritz noticed something under the food. A coat.

"So that's where you were hiding..." She spoke quietly. During her travel, she hadn't clearly seen the coat was there. But now that she was in a secure spot, or so she hoped it was, Ritz finally noticed where her coat was. She took out the rationed food then took out the coat, tossing it up onto the bed. Then carefully putting all her supplies back into the backpack. Except for her mother's necklace. Ritz carefully put it on, tucking it under her shirt. She wanted to keep her things all in one place if she could help it. After everything else was secured into her backpack, she pushed it back where it was laying while she had been asleep. Sitting there a moment longer, debating on what to do next.

"I wonder.. If there are any places for resident housing.." She shook her head slightly, then sighed. Gaining a place of her own required money. And money needed to be obtained somehow. She sighed softly again, then hoisted herself off the floor of the room. Grunting faintly at her blistered feet. She quietly scowls at her shoes then picks up the cloak, putting it on carefully. As she finishes putting it on, Ritz goes to pull on her shoes. Gritting her teeth from the painful blisters, she walks over to the backpack and has it slung over her thinning shoulders once more. She never really thought about it, but having traveled with it, having it on her shoulders seemed normal to Ritz. And besides...if she had to get out of the city in a hurry, she would have the backpack with her. As Ritz headed out the room, she locked it once outside it. Then attaching the key onto a necklace underneath her shirt. This would help to make sure she didn't lose the precious key to her room. Rubbing her eyes as they had dark circles under them, she headed outside of the Inn. Savoring the warmth of it before stepping into the cold air of the city.

"Ok...Where to go..?" Looking from left to right, Ritz started walking towards the inner city. Figuring she needed to explore first, but quickly. "Here goes."

Ritz woke up as the sun had started to set. Blinking her sleep filled eyes as the room was getting dark, and yawning widely. She didn't remember coming back into her Inn room. And most certainly did not know how much time had passed since walking out. But as odd as this was to her, she simply shrugged it off, muttering quietly.

"Must've been more tired then I thought..." She stretches out then looks down. Her coat was still on. And as she moved, Ritz found that she was still fully clothed. Shaking her head irritably. Leaning forward to see where her backpack was and sees it on the table. Odd. She never puts her backpack farther away from where she sits or sleeps. She must've blacked out or something. Ritz yawns again then gets out of the bed, shrugging it all off. Her black curly hair felt like it was in tangles. Wincing as her blistered feet were very sore still.

"Yep. They're still there. Go figure." She thought with her brows furrowing a little bit. Her stomach suddenly roared with a viciousness from the likes Ritz hadn't felt for awhile now. Her stomach felt like it hadn't felt food in a few days. Groaning quietly she walked unsteadily to her backpack, and quickly opened it. Unpacking half it's contents to get to the food that had been stashed away. Taking one day's worth of the rations and scarfing it down whole, or at least as whole as she could. The wolf in her wanting the portioned meal to last as long as it could to help her stomach stay full for a little while. She looks at her dwindling rations supply and counted that she only had about five days left of it. Though she suspected it might be even less due to the possible spoilage of it. She really did not wish to rely on the Inn's food. Not while she was still jobless. Sitting onto the chair, she sat there in deep thought for the longest moment. She could go outside the city to track down a small wild animal to eat perhaps. But to do so would mean she'd have to be in her wolf form. And she needed her clothes when the hunt was done. She could not afford to lose the only set of clothing she had right now. Sighing, Ritz gets up, wincing because she forgot her feet was still blistered. Grunting irritably she tries hard to shrug it off. Moving over to where her shoes were. Near the door? How odd. She sighs and retrieves them. And as much as she hated to do it, she put on the worn down shoes. The blisters seeming to scream all bloody murder as the worn shoes fit onto her feet. What Ritz wouldn't mind was to make a good cooked meal. But to do that would require some degree of cookware. As well as the materials for said meal. But again, Ritz's body seemed to be moving as if automatically. Which did not seem to bother her in the least bit. Blinking for a moment, she looked at the darkening room. The sun barely giving off the last few rays of light through her room window. Another yawn escaping her as she looked towards the table. Then walked towards it. Her right hand reaching for the straps of the backpack. The bandages that wrapped from her fingertips up to her right shoulder looked a little bit worn. Making a mental note to replace it when she got managed to get ahold of new bandages. Though they weren't actually needed, Ritz preferred to cover up something that went from her right shoulder to her right forearm. Slinging the backpack straps over her shoulders, Ritz picked up a beaded necklace that was on the bed pillow. It had the room key attached to it. She slips the necklace on, and tucks it away under her simple shirt. As she looked for her coat, she stopped and realize that the coat was still on her. Ritz merely half smiles at the silliness of it all, and turned to go out the door. As she had stepped out, she collided right into the front desk hostess as papers went flying. Ritz falling backwards roughly, then getting up to collect the papers for the young woman and helping her up.

"Sorry ma'am. I'll be more careful." Ritz said simply. Then turned around again, locked the door to her room, and quickly made for the front door. Her expression reserved again. Getting outside though, she was curious to enter a local bar that she had heard from passersby, one called The Kelp Bar. Figuring it wouldn't hurt to have a look at the place, Ritz headed towards it. Making a rough mental note where it might be.

RItz had locked the door after coming back. She had spent the night and much of the morning at The Kelp Bar. Her backpack had been stolen, and she managed to get it back. But as a result, the right half of her ribs felt broken from being kicked twice there. Her right shoulder aching badly as it had been pummeled against repeatedly with a hard fist. Her lungs felt like they were on fire from the heavy breathing of the cold air outside. Instead of going over to the bed, she leaned against the door and slid down until she sat on the floor. There her knees come up to her chest as she stifles a groan. Her ribs and shoulders hurt badly as she wills herself to rest there instead of moving anymore other then the breathe.

"Rotten sailors and their alcohol." She mutters softly to herself. Ritz closed her eyes and rests there. The backpack beside her as she felt better that she had it back again.

Timestanp: 16th of Winter, 512AV

Kayliegh stalled outside the Inn, petting Treasa as she stared. A woman caught sight of her and rushed forward, wiping her hands on her skirt. She smiled at the potential customer and Kayliegh smiled right back, she had been a tiny bit shy about barging in, especially seeing as she didn't know where to put Treasa. Nauda growled lightly at the woman rushing forward and she stopped, staring at the large dog sitting next to the small woman.

Kayliegh shook her head at Nauda and said a sharp command that had the dog's ears going down.
"Quies, placo." she told him. Nauda whined at her lightly. He just wanted to protect her. Kayliegh patted his head but repeated her order for quietness.

The woman approached slower but Nauda didn't make any more noises. Just watched the woman's movements. Kayliegh either ignored or didn't notice her dog's suspicion. Treasa on the other hand sniffed at the woman, looking for a treat.

"Forgive, Nauda. He is...protective of me. I wish to stay here, how much?" Kay's common was only basic, she could speak but it took her a few moments to think of all the words necessary, hopefully the longer she stayed here the better it would get.

The woman nodded slightly, thinking of how the dog might be bad for business if he attacked a guest. But the woman seemed to have strong control over him.

"It's 2 SM a night for you, 1 for your horse. That'll make it 15gm, 2sm for you to stay the rest of the season and 7gm, 2sm for the horse, but that's not taking into account your animal. He's not going to attack anyone, is he? It would be terrible for business.." the hostess quickly calculated the numbers for the rest of the season, the woman looked like a traveler and no one liked traveling in the winter, she'd likely want to stay here for the rest of the season. But that dog...

"He is well trained, he will not disobey me. He will only attack someone who tries to harm me or Treasa or attempts to steal anything of mine. Perhaps three more gold mizas will make you a bit more inclined to let us stay here?" Kayliegh wondered briefly if she could get a job here as a dancer, perhaps later she could ask. For now she had to get the woman to let them stay, Her grip on Nauda's leash tightened and she lay a hand on his head, his tongue lolled out to pant lightly as sh kept a watch on the area around them.

"Make you're board an even twenty gold mizas, and your horses an eight gold mizas and I'll overlook the animal, as long as you keep him from the main room and my guests, you can leave with him out the back. Also, breakfast is 5cm and main meals are 1sm." The woman nodded, happy with her gain. The girl exuded confidence in her animal and the woman was inclined to believe her. Kayliegh nodded and went through her bags until she found the money necessary. She handed over the money and the woman called over a stable hand who took Treasa's reins after Kayliegh grabbed the saddle packs and slung them over her shoulder.s They were frightfully heavy but she could deal until she got to her room, she followed the woman in the back way, Nauda trialing slightly behind her.

Besnik
11th of Winter

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Upon Valo’s recommendation the Kelvic had decided to seek out World’s End Grotto as a temporary place to stay. After visiting the man that morning to say thank you for helping him out, Besnik had left in search of the inn. It had taken him a while of searching to stumble across the building, almost not realising what it was but having his attention captured by the strange uniqueness of the place. His eyes wandered over the various colours and type of stone that seemed to have been randomly chosen and stacked to form the building. He moved forward, shifting the weight of the pack over his shoulders so that it sat more comfortably, and passed two people stood talking near the entrance. He could smell before entering the lingering scents of many visitors in search of a place to stay, a variety of scents that were as much a part of the place as the odd stonework.

Upon entering Besnik was met by a young woman, who greeted him with a welcoming smile and introduced herself as Serra Danalle. His scruffy appearance due to rough living didn’t seem to be noticed and he felt as though no matter who walked through the doors, she’d take care of them. “My name’s Besnik,” he said with a smile, “I’d like to rent a room for…five and a half weeks.” He thought carefully about how long he’d be staying, estimating that five and a half weeks from now he’d be ready to move on. That should be enough time to explore the city and not get bored. Of course, one could never fully know how long they’d stay in a place. If he needed a room after the 49th of Winter he’d have to pay out more money with a request of staying longer.

The Kelvic took 8GM out of his pack, handing it over and receiving his change before heading in the direction Serra pointed. Besnik passed a large room, full of people chatting and drinking, and headed upstairs. The rooms were moderately sized, but very good for the price of 2SM a night. He grinned, setting his bag down, and sat on the bed. It would be all too easy to buy things around Zeltiva now as he had somewhere to leave them, yet he knew he’d have to restrain himself. He was a traveller and had no room for carrying large or many items, especially when holding his pack in his dhole form. Stretching his arms, he fell back on the bed that was his for the near future, and shut his eyes to relax for a while.

Ledger :
-76SM for a room for 38 days

Day 10 of Spring 513AV

Lexa stumbled into the inn with all her bags, her tent, everything strapped to her back. She Managed to make her tired legs take her to the counter where a young lady sat. The woman looked up upon Lexa's arrival and smiled warmly at her "Hello, My name is Serra Danalle." She introduced her self "How may I help you?" Lexa scratched the back of her head awkwardly
"Uhm, hi, I'm Lexa. I'd like a room. I'd like to pay ahead up to the 50th of Spring"

The woman nodded and said "Certainly, Lexa. That will be 8 Gold Miza." Lexa nodded simply, and reached in her pack to hand over the money "Thank-you" Said Serra with a smile "Also, breakfast is 5CM per day, and the main meal is 1SM."
"Okay, thanks" Lexa said then winced as she felt her stomach growl "Is the main meal on now?" Serra beamed at her and nodded "Go on up and find your room, food will still be on for a while" She said pointing her in the right direction
"Have a nice day, Miss Lexa" She told her as Lexa began to head off in the direction that had been pointed out to her
"Thanks, uh, you too"

Lexa rushed upstairs and flung all her gear onto the floor collapsing head first onto her bed. It just felt so nice to have a bed for once. It was a lovely play to stay, and not very expensive. If Lexa hadn't been so hungry, she might have fallen asleep right there. Instead she took herself down to get food, sitting at an empty table and eating ravenously once she was served. Then, once her belly was full, she padded slowly upstairs to her room, and slept like a baby even though it wasn't long past noon.
