The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The Scholar's Demise

The Scholar's Demise is considered by many to be one of Lhavit’s finer points, situated along the edge of the Surya Plaza. This seemingly back-alley establishment is the city’s most famous bar, renowned for its year-round service and affordable pricing. Though food is served, it is a sidelight in contrast to their specialty cocktails.

Despite the narrow corridor in which a patron enters, they quickly find themselves in a cavernous lounge. The space is typically structured – a counter spanning one side of the room, graced by slender wooden barstools. The rest of the room is littered with tables and chairs, all elaborately carved. Lighting is usually dim, an individual candle guttering atop each table. Due to the sensitive nature of wood and the bumbling nature of drunks, each one is seated in a double-glass orb, the secondary container filled with water.

What makes the Demise remarkable is its dual-nature. Much like Lhavit itself, the Tavern is open around the clock, making it a popular destination for Ethaefal - both Synaborn and Lethborn alike. During the day the skyglass windows are flung open and several gilt mirrors are hung to reflect the light, casting prisms over the otherwise simple furnishing. The candles still burn, though they are more a homage to Syna than a practical light source. From there it is a celebration of Leth, as the mirrors are taken down and the candles burn blue alcohol flame.

Its proprietors are both Ethaefal, and surprisingly enough, are lovers. Out of reverence to their deities, they founded the place as a representation of the combined faith as well as a lucrative business venture. The bar in question opened in 470 AV and since has steadily grown in popularity, undergoing three separate renovations. The owners run shifts day to night, with an intermediary taking “Tanroa’s Hour” as they use the mid-day for their quality time.

During various days of the week, artists are welcome to perform. Buskers, poets and storytellers visit during the evening bells. They're welcome to engage in their artform after a brief interview with either Aleah or Roric. Once established, many artists return regularly.

Roric is a tall man in his Ethaefal form, standing at 6'5". He has one piercing golden eye, his left eye covered by an eyepatch, and long, silky hair that changes colours with the seasons. Unlike most of his kind, his horns curve forward, angling downwards to frame his face.

At night, Roric is an average human. He is perhaps on the shorter side, with slightly long brown hair and pale blue eyes; he is still missing an eye in this form, which is how people who have yet to see both his forms often identify him.

Roric is the Synaborn of the two and the difference is quite evident. His fall transpired just outside Alvadas, leading to what he considers a thoroughly checkered past. For most of his career he worked as a mercenary, eventually losing an eye during a job. This event in particular inhibited his combat effectiveness, and led him to settle in the more docile city of Lhavit.

Aimlessly he wandered, pacing the streets at night in his human form. One particular evening he watched a Konti shift into the most beautiful women he'd ever spied, and made a vow to have her as his own. The chase was long but fruitful in the end, as inevitably his enthusiasm won the day.

Roric had a hidden passion for cooking, which manifested during his brief stay at the Shooting Star Inn. Working tirelessly he became an expert, which ultimately coincided with Aleah's idea of opening a restaurant. Shortly after their vows they opened the Scholar's Demise, where they've been ever since. With the business' unprecedented success they've flourished and become household names in the city.

This however, has not inhibited their growth. The two beings actively seek new employees and new recipes, always looking to the future. They enjoy employing buskers and street musicians to showcase their art and are willing to barter with other business owners for discounts, provided the dealings are fair.

Aleah
ImageName: Aleah
Race: Ethaefal (Night)/Konti (Day)
Birthdate: 392 AV
Birthplace: The Ahger Ocean
Occupation: Owner and bartender at the Scholar's Demise
Skills: Bartending - 50, Cooking - 30, Leadership - 30, Negotiation - 30, Unarmed Combat - 25
Languages: Common (Fluent), Kontinese (Fluent)

Aleah is on the smaller side of her race; standing at 5'6" in her divine form, she is slender, with her hair cut neatly into a bob, blunt bangs falling across her forehead. Her horns curl around her ears like those of a ram's, and her eyes are a brilliant cobalt.

During the day, Aleah takes the form of an even shorter Konti; her silver hair falls in waves to her waist, and delicate, pastel blue scales shimmer with opalescence along her forehead, arms, and legs.

Aleah is the Lethborn out of the two. Serious and very introspective, it was only Roric's contagious vigor that inevitably won her over. She has been a Lhavit native since her fall, her inert form waking to the shore of the Ahger Ocean. Since then she's studied a great deal, and even briefly considered becoming a Shinya. Owning a restaurant had always been her first love, however; and upon meeting Roric, her perspective vastly changed.

Aleah's enthusiasm for Leth was only matched by her love to bartend. After years of moonlighting as a mixologist, the ambition struck her to start anew. Roric came at just the right hour, encouraging her with his infallible optimism to pursue that dream and helping to reconcile the Ethaefal devotion with her earthly pleasure.

After many years spent together, the two were wed - Cheva herself attending as chaplain. Aleah is the primary mixologist for the establishment though she dabbles in cooking and for her partner, the reverse is true. These two Ethaefal work tirelessly to exalt their deities and the other pantheon through this simplistic form of tribute.
