33rd of Winter, 512 AV
Lab 37B, Gug Andjak

The musical clangs that rang about the 37th floor of the Gug Andjak were absent this day, which was a rare occurrence to say the least. Whether the surrounding inhabitants were grateful or indifferent to the quiet was unknown to Mienskil, not that he would have cared. Magecrafting was his passion and commission, and he was sure as shyke going to keep hitting things until he'd crafted enough items to smother the Synchograph Office. Until his hands blistered or fell off, he would not stop, not for even the gods.

Though he was quiet now, and that was because he was writing. The scratching of pen on paper filled only Lab 37B this day, as there was a lot to write and little patience Mienskil had for writing it. Since his arrival, he'd been working incessantly on various projects, starting with simple reagent testing before moving onto something a bit more utilitarian, without pause except for when his body put itself to sleep in order to satisfy his curiosity. Now though, he had to document the results, else he'd never remember the various conclusions of his work. And forgetting would be as bad as failure, if not worse because of the wasted time.

Just yesterday he'd taken out the multiple dirks he'd crafted with multiple reagents to see what the effects were, and now he was listing the results. They were all quite interesting, some of which he had anticipated but others which were completely unexpected. And if he didn't write these down now, then they'd be forgotten forever. So he went on, ignoring the boredom gnawing at his innards, and kept the little quill pen writing the second of two lists which was the effects next to the reagents. An audible sigh escaped his lips, but the scratching never stopped.

Rayage stalked the halls of the Gug Andjak, particularly around the 37th floor of the place. An interesting rumor had reached him. There was a new wizard who occupied his own lab right after walking into the place. A pulser no less. This garnered quite the fuss around the wizards who listened to such rumors, and eventually made it to the Alchemist, who, tried to make it a priority of his to keep up on things around the place. It was more energy than he thought, but nonetheless yielded interesting results some of the time.

Being a Master of the Island helped a lot in what one would hear and not. Usually he would be one of the first people to hear of such things, but this wasn’t the case as the labs around the 37th floor were the ones who first noticed a change. Never before had one simply walked in and skipped the apprenticeship, not even Rayage. The nuit still had a superior who he called master, but they tended to have an understanding and worked together, for the most part. Karte had allowed him to make his fair share of mistakes, but also granted him a certain amount of knowledge, such as the ability to transfer your very auric signature to something which you have crafted.

Finding the lab rightfully marked, the nuit stared at the entrance for a while, taking in the different design of the door before he would knock. He, unlike some people, would be allowed entrance into the lab instead of just barging in. He found that practice to be very rude, distracting, and somewhat dangerous as who knows what the wizard could be working on, if anything. It certainly did not seem to be anything going on, but as with most magic, looks and seemings can be very deceiving. Just because you cannot perceive it doesn’t mean that nothing is there.

The knock on the door rang through the almost silent hall like a bell, echoing between the stone walls. Quickly the scritching of pen on paper stopped as Mienskil looked to the door, wondering who it could be. He often went around knocking on the doors of other common laboratories and workshops, a practice that earned him a bit of irritation from the masters who worked there, looking for reagents and other things he could use in his Magecrafting projects. Yet he could not think of a reason why anyone would be interested in coming to his lab, which had one wizard working and no one else. That said, he wasn't aware that word of his quick ascension spread so far.

Getting up, Mienskil walked over to the doors and pulled them wide open, straining his arms a bit to do so. He was still largely healthy, but signs were beginning to show that Sahova was taking its toll, but he still made sure that the doors were open a good amount before stopping. A call asking who it was would give off the impression that he didn't care, opening the door a crack would give off the impression that he wasn't interested in receiving visitors. So of course he made sure that he could fit three people side by side between the doors before stopping, wanting to seem as open and encouraging as possible.

"Wizard Mienskil Ostovik," he introduced to the nuit standing there before he had a chance to respond. "Magecrafter, Lab 37B. How may I help?"
