So uh, hi guys um yeah feel free to jump in anytime you feel like to. So about this thread the ultimate goal really is to meet people. Now in terms of the means to meet that I have no clue... but I guess we'll find out. Anyway enough about me and continue on.

57 Winter, 512 A.V

Two, three, four Theur whispered to himself. He was counting spider webs inside his room because there were many, they were pretty and quite frankly he had nothing else better to do. It was three bells past midnight, he doubt that even a tavern was open but what else could he do? He was already wide awake (a habit he developed from staying in the wilds for a year or so) but the city slept so he continued to count spider webs from the comfort of his bed. Again and again Theur counted always ending at the number nine until he got sick of the number nine, his voice, counting and even then he went on. It seemed that his counting was also having an effect on Theur. Slowly but surely he was getting sleepy, that was until he started ending at eight.

At once he shot up from his bed, straight as an arrow and more alert than he’d been in a long time. Quickly he began scanning his room. The table the chair the wardrobe; his eyes quickly jumping here and there, his eyes then rested upon the window. Except for a little bit of light, the wooden doors kept the outside away. Theur knew and anyone else who glanced upon it knew; it was clearly not the wind but that wasn’t the point anymore. He didn’t care about spider webs anymore he wanted something else; he wanted to go out. Wooden doors gave way to his hand, flimsy little things as they were and what he saw only filled his eyes with wonder. Moonlit building upon moonlit building; as if moonlight played upon the rooftops and windowsills of Ravok. Where blue water once was; now only a solid, long, winding black mirror.

Theur could only stare at the sight before him. Nothing in Sunberth came close to this, nothing in Sunberth could compare to this. A surge of excitement fell upon him. He wanted to be out there and out now, needed to be out there. The stairs wasn’t a viable option (as the stairs were too far and he did not want to wake up Tarsin) but the window certainly was. Completely done in the Spur-Of-The-Moment; Theur was lucky that a canal was there and luckier still that he made it out in one peace.

Still wet, Theur enjoyed the wind on his skin as he ran along the canals. He loved the feeling of accomplishment when he climbed on top of buildings. Sometimes he would sing or do a cartwheel and all with the biggest grin slapped right across his face that made the moon look bad. Basically he was enjoying himself something that he hasn’t done in a long time. It was moments like these where Theur could become a child again, to act his own age…but they never do last too long.

Barely ten chimes in and Theur had slowed to a stop. There was an air of hostility around him that he wore; almost like how one dons on a coat. Someone or something was with him and he did not like that at all. The city was supposed to be asleep; he was supposed to be alone, this was supposed to be his moment his time. That angered him.

Prick! Come on out ere!! Theur yelled aloud.

oocOh yeah, um guys if you are uncomfortable with Theur cussing just let me know so I can lessen it

Noaru silently observed the young fellow running about this hour of the night. Noaru was also curious of the young lad now due to the fact that Theur was able to feel his presence; though, he wasn't hiding it to begin within, it was still something for Noaru to be impressed about. The spirit moved from within his hiding spot within the shadows and moved closer to Theur, silently approaching from behind as he did so he began to materialize, changing from a simple mass of blackened soulmist to a form that had more meaning.... a more human-like form.

The soulmist around Noaru swirled and intensified, becoming more solid than transparent; his will flowed from the soulmist into physical view and extends outwards, forming into arms, legs and eventually into a human shaped body. Noaru flexed and moved his body as he successfully manifested into view, he smiled in achievement and looked to the young boy in front of him who was aware and yet unaware of his whereabouts and spiritual presence.

“Why is a child your age lingering about at this time of the night... I wonder?”

Noaru said with a grin, his dark red eyes appearing from beneath his black robes hood which flowed slightly, as if the wind was playfully toying with the spirits ghostly clothing. The spirit stood ten meters away from behind Theur ensuring that, if the young boy did try to attack him, he would have enough time to react and dodge quickly.

How to start a Day

oocI hope I'm not over stepping anything here
“Why is a child your age lingering about at this time of the night... I wonder?”

Those words not only gave away where Noaru was but it also annoyed Theur. His head snapped back as his legs exploded downwards; his chest followed his head and his hip jutted forward. The movement itself wasn’t graceful at all, far from it but it served its purpose nonetheless; They faced each other at the same time building Theur's momentum. Theur didn’t bother to check if he got Noaru by surprise or not, he just assumed he did and continued; slamming his leg down and propelling himself forward. It was clear what he wanted to do, what he was going to do. The ten meter distance quickly dwindled between them and then Theur suddenly stopped.

A sudden sharp pang of cold bit into him, as if telling Theur not to go any closer. Disbelief flashed across his face. The distance between them was only seven meters, seven measly meters but he found he couldn’t get any closer; shouldn’t get any closer. His palms began to sweat, the hairs on his back began to stand on end and a chill began to form on his spine; it was like his body knew that something was terribly wrong here. Anger turned to doubt as Theur watched Noaru, something just wasn’t right with him.

Theur narrowed down on Noaru’s face. Apart from that smiling face he had, his other features were barred from Theur. He took a step closer and then another, feeling just a tad bit colder with each step. It was by sheer accident that Theur and Noaru’s eyes met; whatever Theur had on his face be it curiosity, caution, or something else entirely; now only fear. Piercing red eyes looked right past Theur (or atleast felt like) at once he knew, Noaru was something else.

“Why is a child your age lingering about at this time of the night... I wonder?”

The words played back in his head. Theur really had no choice and so he answered

Spiders..syr…Spiders I got bored of spiders

Theur said with a grin, he tried to atleast copy Noaru to show that he was no threat and to hide his own fear. He failed at either; his grin was plastic anyone could tell and his fear showed through his words, he just hoped that Noaru won’t pick up on it.

Noaru was still when cold air chilled the environment, his gaze not leaving Theur's, he could feel his nervousness but was surprised that the young boy didn't run by now! He wasn't going to do anything to him but it was interesting to see someone other than thieves, murderers and the other miscreants of society roaming about. Noaru was interested in the boys reply, it carried a slight shakiness in tone and he focused in on it, widening his eyes as replied to the young soul in front of him.

“Spiders... Interesting insects aren't they? But I must say, becoming bored of them must mean they had a lot of them?”

The area started to become dark which was odd, seeing that it was already dark outside but which was strange that the area around Noaru was becoming the darkest. The spirit's eyes becoming brighter and brighter as it became increasingly darker around him; he grinned and took one step closer to Theur; though, it wasn't a fast step, it was eerily slow and steady.

“However, did you know that there are other things a child should worry about in the night?”

Noaru's foot touches onto a small puddle with a slight splash, he had stepped into the water on purpose seemingly crushing something that was moving from view.

How to start a Day

Postby Theur on January 22nd, 2013, 3:56 pm

oocSorry it took so long, I was super busy over the past few days so yeah.

If fear was a weapon it would be a long wavy knife thrust through the lung; that was how Theur felt. He had difficulty breathing; moving. His mind wouldn't stop moving at a million miles an hour and so was his stomach, more so when Noaru took a step closer. As Noaru approached, Theur noted that not only did it get colder it also got darker much darker, it was as if the darkness began to eat away the blue. A thousand needles called cold found their mark on Theur; his muscles only flexed in response, his ability to shiver; robbed. Theur’s eyes never left Noaru’s he never broke the gaze, like a moth drawn to a light, he was drawn to the eyes. Theur could feel his own pulse on his neck and on his wrists, could feel the blood flow through it. Fear held a tight grip on him and yet his hands burned.

“However, did you know that there are other things a child should worry about in the night?” Noaru said to Theur.

The sound of something splashing distracted Theur from Noaru. Squinting his eyes he quickly searched the water until he found a small ripple and when he did, Theur was having chills all over. He didn’t know why but whatever that fell in, used to be alive. Their eyes met again; Noaru had a grin on his face as if something amused him. Something told Theur that whatever fell in, he would most likely be next; so why was it that he glared at Noaru. Instead of bursting into a cold sweat and curling into a ball, Theur’s hands began to sting. He could feel his blood almost hear it even as it pulsed in his palms and pushed through his hands then something bizzare flowed out of him; orange djed.

It began to flow, slowly at first and as fast as blood flowed out of a freshly cut wound, quickly hardening as it did; getting warmer and warmer as it did. Usually Theur would stop it, hide it, anything in order to snuff it out but this was an unusual situation. He breathed out once then he pushed, and stretched, and pulled the djed to his hands. Pangs of pain was to be expected afterall Theur was dealing with something he doesn't yet fully understand. The end result was a shell surrounding his hands, uneven, unnaturally hot and orange.

…Really? he said while tilting his head Do..t..ell Theur said.

Fear still held him with a tight grip it was obvious in his speech but there was a small glint in his eye. Like a cornered animal who’s sudden realization is to fight; so too was Theur.

And fighting Theur can do.

“There are other things besides human threats around; there could be humanoids, shape-shifters or...malevolent spirits. ”

Noaru said the last of his sentence with a chuckle as he appeared and reappeared around the young boy, circling him, trying to get a feel of the young one's presence. Noaru comes to a stop in his ''blinking'' once he notices a faint orange hue appear on Theur's palms that appeared and then disappear, it caused him to raise an eyebrow and disappear, reappearing in front of Theur once more just out of arms reach. The spirit hadn't seen such a thing occur on a human before, making him wonder whether or not Theur was actually human at all: maybe, the young lad had potential.

“That glow on your hands. I noticed it while I was observing you, but it seems to be gone now since I no longer can see it.”

Noaru suppressed his power, allowing the light and warmth of the area to return to some form of normality; he placed his left hand on his chin and tried to see if he could sense anything out of the usual about Theur again but did not. The spirit contemplated whether or not the child knew anything about the incident occurred some decades ago but that would be unlikely since Theur didn't seem over five hundred years old.

How to start a Day

Postby Theur on February 5th, 2013, 2:34 pm

OOCSo sorry it took so long; RL stuff happened so yeah but here it is at last

Noaru’s reply took Theur completely off-guard. Shape shifters, non-humans, spirits; absolute hogwash to Theur. Ridiculous he thought, if this was an attempt to scare him it wasn’t working rather he found it quite funny. Those things were nothing more than street rumours, an old wives tale to scare little children to sleep; how old did Noaru think Theur was. Fear held him tight but right now it loosened quite a bit. A wicked smile began to form on Theur’s face and with it; a wicked thought. He figured Noaru would make a move and when he did, when he came close, when he came in range; well that was where Theur’s smile came from. He had one foot slightly in front of the other and his body arched forward just a bit. It wasn’t a stance per se that he did, it was more of an “I’m-ready-for-anything” kind of position; fat chance it did against Noaru.

Somehow Noaru closed the distance between them in an instant. At once Theur went wide-eyed, he was baffled on how Noaru closed the distance; but only for a moment. Theur’s body began to twist, one arm would have shot backwards and the other should have gone flying; until Theur saw Noaru disappear.

He remembered a time back in the orphanage when he would listen to the others scare themselves silly with ghost stories.

“And then your skin go’all cold ; Theur could feel nothing but the cold.
“And then your back will tremble”; Theur’s spine tingled and shook.
“Then evr’y thing goes all dark”; Theur saw only black.
Only then will you see em…or maybe not y’cant really see a ghost unless they want ya too”.
…Malevolent spirits the words played around his head, only then did he suddenly realize it.

A hundred fears passed by Theur almost as fast as Noaru approached. Cold sweat began to break upon Theur’s neck and his ears itched like mad; his heart was in his throat and his hair stood on end. He couldn’t remember if he pissed his pants or not. He would have fainted too if it wasn’t for his hands; orange, glowing, excruciating things that they were. If the cold were needles, a wave of heat pulsed from his hands (only Theur could feel this) barely bearable to himself.

“That glow on your hands. I noticed it while I was observing you, but it seems to be gone now since I no longer can see it.”

It would be a lie to say that Theur was not surprised by Noaru's words but quite frankly other things occupied him. The sudden return of warmth around him only brought the pain in his hands to a whole new level; a level he couldn't hold for long but he still had to answer back. Theur’s arm snapped out; fuelled by his fear it flew, driven by pain it came down hard. Theur never checked the distance between Noaru and himself he just swung.

WELL CHECK IT YURSELF!!! Theur yelled as he swung

Whether Theur did hit Noaru or not, a nervous smile fell upon Theur's face; what was he thinking.

“ Now... you shouldn't have done that.”

Noaru's body swiftly moves backwards almost sliding before coming to an abrupt stop; however, despite this abnormally fast movement he hadn't moved a muscle... or soulmist, whatever! Noaru was standing perfectly still while this happened unwilling to allow whatever power Theur had to inflict bodily harm upon him but now, he was going to use this chance to thoroughly frighten Theur! The spirit stepped back into the gloom and disappeared; his presence could be felt though, lingering around in the darkness which made the atmosphere fell tense and unwelcoming.

“I'm certain you must feel nervous. A little afraid even? I assure that I won't harm you.”

Noaru was a lying as he watched Theur from his hidden vantage point, he had something in store but was willing to wait and see what his young companions response would be--and which path he would choose. Then afterwards, he would... probably leave the child alone... probably.

How to start a Day

Postby Theur on February 12th, 2013, 1:06 pm

Theur expected that he would miss; knew he would miss but it still felt bad when he did…almost like falling. Crap too much power and he began to fall forwards towards Noaru and his worst fears began to take hold. Too afraid to close his eyes he watched with much surprise as Noaru moved back at incredible speeds. Maybe Theur surprised him somehow or maybe Noaru was planning something; honestly Theur didn’t care and he certainly wasn’t asking why but he had to make decision then or there: run away or give chase. Without too much hesitation Theur began to sprint towards Noaru.

His reasons for chasing all misguided really, it might even be that all the adrenaline has gone to his head but one thing was certain it was a chance for Theur. One foot followed another in long strides, virtually leaping towards Noaru but Noaru moved faster. In the end Theur lost sight of him; with no clue where he could have gone, Theur simply turned around making his way back to Tarsin’s when he suddenly lost all balance. Theur didn’t even go thorough half of his movement (of turning) when he fell; at once he knew it wasn’t just chance but something much more.

Theur couldn't remember if Noaru spoke or not but a heavy almost hostile feeling fell upon Theur; and it felt just like Noaru. Common sense dictates that you can’t feel “anyone” atleast without touching them physically but Theur could feel Noaru from almost everywhere, from the bottom of his toes to the top of his head and that freaked Theur out. Without the use of his legs Theur began to crawl, squirm and wriggle his way out. He knew that Noaru was watching him but pride did not matter at this point, as long as Theur was long gone.

Inches slowly turned into meters as Theur dragged himself across the ground but not without difficulty. Noaru’s presence made it hard for anyone to breathe; after the third or so meter Theur had slowed to a stop. A naughty smile began to form on Theur’s face as he rolled until he was face up. Slowly he raised his left arm up as if to reach for something and then he bent his hand this way and that; pulling certain fingers or curling them in order to form a vulgar sign. The orange glow around his hands emphasised it in all of its obscenity.

Theur was intentionally provoking Noaru; not the most intelligent of ideas but he did it because for a brief moment he lost heart. Theur wanted to escape to go back to safety his old self never would have allowed it besides if all went according to his idea; Noaru would have to appear and appear close.

Theur this time was gonna make a chance for himself and this time he wasn't gonna blow it.

“ This seems to be the limit of his power.”

Noaru focused upon his corporeal form, soulmist shimmered in response to his will, swirling and bending around him like a veil of pure blackness which his soulmist looked very much alike. The edges of his body weren't perfect but was enough for him to be seen and noticed completely by others, his body shimmered slightly during his materialization; he felt more solid, his shape more distinct and truer than before. The spirit paid enough conscious attention to his form to know what was needed for his complete physical manifestation; focus, will and consciousness of that will. Once he felt solid enough to be seen, he disappeared and reappeared floating above his young ''friend''; if Theur looked ahead above into the sky, he would see Noaru seemingly standing in front of the moon itself.

The spirit wasn't that high in the air to look as if he was flying in front of the moon but was a good height from Theur and at the angle, he and his young companion was, it would prove to be one clever optical illusion that Noaru could use, if he was aware of it.

“ May I know your name? ”

Noaru shouted but knew that he had ruined the chance to properly know the young lads name and the bad first impression he made did not make things any better for him; he had to try though despite the fact the boy mite reject his attempt.
