The noises of the fight had slipped away as in numbing pain. Her eyesight, normally sharper at night was blurring as she fought to stay conscious. A shape of the giant girl who had come to her rescue hovered in front of her, lips moving but Adilliana couldn’t make out the words. She tried to smile to easy the signs of worry on the girls face but knew it was hopeless.
Adilliana had broken bones before in ‘playful’ altercations and she knew without a doubt the thug who had manhandled her had broken her left arm, maybe dislocated it as well it was hard to tell. It had ended her participation in the fight. Perhaps now that there main target was down the other bullies would leave?
She looked around and found this was sadly not the case as her male ally could be seen across the deck facing down facing down the last two boys standing. He strode over carefully watching the sprawled out forms of the enemy in case they decided to get up. His nose had been squished beyond recognition and there was blood around the edges of his mouth. But still he came to her side to look at her injured arm.
Adilliana could see the wheels turning inside his head as he look from her to the rope that allowed access to the anchorage. Suddenly she had been lifted off the ground and draped over the boys shoulder.
She instinctively struck out without thinking causing the pain in the arm to be redoubled. Adilliana tried to calm herself realising that the older boy was only trying to help. Wind whistled past them and the suddenly stopped as they arrived on an empty casinor. Gentle she was placed down why her rescuer looked around. When he seemed happy that they were safe he sat down next to her.
Adilliana was grateful for the new hiding place, and managed a weak Smile. Now once again safe curiosity returned as she look up at her defender.
“Thanks for helping me.” She stated in common adding “My Name is Adilliana East-wind. What is yours?”
