Time Stamp: 1st Spring, 509AV Location: Red Diamond Tavern Who: Miria Iosha had to admit the Icewall Gates was an impressive site to behold at night since the light of the moon made the whole wall glow brilliantly in the cold spring night. The Konti was shivering as the cool wind whipped her white hair around as she waited for the Icewatch to let her into the city. Surprisingly, the guard was allowing everyone into the city. Ayume was right about her homeland no one was turned away from the gates of Avanthal. Iosha touched the bone necklace Ayume gave her, and she had to bite a lip to hold back the tears. When it was her turn, the guard looked at her and raised an eyebrow and said in common with a smile, “Welcome to the home of Morwen, Konti, and we hope you enjoy your stay in our city.” Iosha looked at him and said softly with sadness in her voice, “Thank you for your hospitality, sir.” The konti inclined her head in recognition of his authority, and she walked through the long hallway of ice. When Iosha got passed the gates, the konti wasn't surprised the city was void of life at the midnight hour since it was in the middle of the week. However, the snow covered streets seemed eerie since all she could hear was the whispering of the wind through the icy alleyways. The konti was hungry, tired, and cold, so she needed to look for a place to eat and find lodging for the night. The blond woman wasn't looking forward to tomorrow because she was given the duty of delivering Ayume necklace to her family and telling them their beloved daughter was dead. Since it been three months from her death, the konti wasn't sure if she could get through it without breaking down in front of them. The anticipation of the events of tomorrow had started to make the young konti uneasy, and she started to think drinking her anxiety away will be a good thing tonight. Iosha stopped in the snow covered street, and she looked up at the sky noticing clouds were starting to block out the stars and moon. She wondered if it would snow later tonight. She continued walking down the street until she heard the sound of people coming from a tavern. The voices were muffled outside, but when the door opened, she could hear the laughter and revelry of the bar clearly in the street. Iosha decided to make her way to the tavern called the Red Diamond Tavern, opened the door, and walked inside the crowded bar. When the konti walked into the main room of tavern, Iosha was amazed at the amount of Vantha crammed into one room. She took off her fur hood and immediately the Vantha started to watch the exotic foreigner as she walked by them. The blond woman wasn't in the mood to deal with them, so she kept her violet eyes on her destination ignoring the occasional invitation to join them at their table. When she made it to the bar, she walked up to the bartender and asked loud enough for him to hear over the crowd, “Can I just have a mug of hot chocolate for now?” She ran a hand through her blond hair and said with a weak smile, “I need to warm up before I drown myself in ale..” The bartender laughed out loud, and he said with warm smile, “It should be just a couple of chimes if you want to find a table. I will have a waitress bring your drink to you.” Iosha nodded softly to him, turned around to the main room, and noticed a open table by the fire pit. Iosha quickly weaved the crowd to snag the table before it was taken by another customer. When Iosha made it to the table, she set down her backpack, took off her winter clothing, and short bow and quiver. The whole process took a few chimes, but she didn't have a chance to find a room before she went to tavern. The waitress looked at her and said with smile, “Are you a hunter, konti? Oh here is your hot coco...” Iosha nodded to her when she set it down at the table, and she answered her question in a sarcastic tone, “I am actually a healer, so most of my weapons our just for show. I figure if I will get to use them eventually.” The waitress raised an eyebrow, her green eyes turned yellow, and said with weary grin, “I doubt the you will have to use them in the city. Morwen and Icewatch keeps the city relatively safe from crime. We like to think of ourselves as a peaceful people.” Iosha eyed the waitress, and she thought to herself, “The people of Ravok think themselves peaceful too. You naive girl...” Iosha nodded and said calmly, “Honestly, I do believe you, but I will feel safer having them with me. Thank you for the hot chocolate.” The waitress eyes went back from yellow to green and walked away back to the bar. Iosha sat down in the chair and started to listen to the old people tell their stories. |
