Solo [Antinous Training Grounds] Meeting and a Drill

Spring 10th, 513 AV, 8th Bell
Ethen Calden was asked to meet his new mentor in the Antinous Training Grounds and bring a bunkler shield and his heavy crossbow with 10 crossbow bolts. Ethen went to the center of the training field. A dusty sparring ring and Ethen looked around the grounds and in the corner was a heavy built man. Ethen wave over to the man and approached him and said "hello you must be my mentor. I'm Ethen Cald-" Ethen was suddenly intruded by the man rising up then swinging down an wooden one handed Sword.

By instinct Ethen dropping his crossbow on to the dusty ground and rise his bunkler in the nick of time meeting the sword downward swing. The man swung again hitting Ethen's shoulder hard, "ow, can't we use the attack dummy instead" cried Ethen and motioning to a straw figure bound by rope stuck wooden pole with the arms of the dummy tied to two pieces of rope, each attached to two rocks in the size of a human fist. The man swing his sword again hitting the back of Ethen's left leg, following Ethen grimacing in pain. "In war, the person that is trying to kill you wouldn't be a straw dummy. Now defend yourself. You are left without your weapon and I'm going to kill you. So use your shield" said the mentor with hard eyes.
