Youth, wonderful youth; truly, there’s nothing in the world as beautiful and innocent as – Smack! It was the sound of an open palm on skin, the furious speed, acute pain and all. Two kids were at it, those wonderful things we categorize as youth. There were two Dhani, male and female, fighting. A lesson had been let out not too long ago, maybe a few chimes. It was a lesson in history. It went a little something like this…

The snakelings were gathered around their elder priestess. Sashisaxani did her best to be up front. Ssafirsotibones was somewhere in there too, maybe towards the back looking at the glowstones in depth, the glowing moss catching his eye. The children had settled, were counted up, and the priestess and teacher gave her opening. It was the usual routine. First, she started with a question.

Who here knows about,” her words trailed off in the nook of the School, her Dhani body slithering about to a coil, “, the pact between the Dhani and the Myrians?” The priestess was no fool. Her quest ended abruptly, a snap as always, but she have no lesser thought of the Myrians than she did her own kin. Underestimating an enemy was a lesson to be taught by someone other all the same. As usual, no one really knew what was to be said on it. That one boy in the back always liked to put his claws up, having heard something from mommy, but he was always short on information. That’s why kids go to school, to learn, properly.

The silence, though expected, was met with a sigh on the Priestess’s part. With a gesture of the hand, she began, as if to hold up an orb to the eyes of the snakelings and marvel them with a vision of the past.

I had begun long ago, during the times of our elders, during the time of the Valterrian...

“Falyndar, as we know it, was not much different. Its people, however, drastically were. I may date myself in saying so, but there were more of us then, or so I have heard. I tell you this only as I know it, and have been told in my own time. The jungles were in chaos. The wars of the Gods spread all across the lands. It was in our home, Falyndar, that life was ended and begun anew. It was a terrible time, met with great pain and chaos. Alas, it did cease. The Gods ended their war, and those guilty were brought to a justice. It was at such time that our people had begun to move.

“We had found refuge here, in Zinrah. These tunnels are but the innards of the ruins above, constructed long ago. The ruins were once more complete and well kept, by Myrians mind you. Many had fled for their capital of Taloba in vain. The jungles claimed what lives they could in the trek. Others stayed here, and as you now know, they did not survive to pass. That was when we claimed our land, and burrowed toward the earth’s heart. It was then that many of us perished too. Hunting was not such a pleasure now at is was then; even then, imagine how pleasurable hunting is now and compare it. No, young ones, many starved and died.

“As with all conflicts, the dust did settle. We had a home, and there was food again, but soon another storm was upon us. The Myrians, those savages, were laying claim to Falyndar. ‘Myri the Merciless,’ supposed Goddess-Queen of these Myrians, lead the advance. The wilds were purged of all things they found a threat to them.

“As you know it, we too were on that list. More likely than not threatened, perhaps even scared of us, the Myrians had left us for last, when no others would change the odds. They cut us off, their numbers too vast. The Myrian Queen lead this assault too, and soon they were upon Zinrah. Dhani claw met savage bone, those Myrians who dare not fight without a weapon – for we Dhani are the true superiors in form. So much blood was spilled, and still their numbers were endless, their breeding like flies in such masses. Too they were slaughtered like flies, but so many flies there were and it was for not.

“We were...losing. Our Great Mother, Siku, sent out at once to relieve Zinrah of the savage torment. It was then that she beseeched her own mother, Caiyha, Goddess of all the things that are wild, to put an end to the slaughter for both sides. She was in greater terms with the Myrian Queen, and in the end a deal was struck.

“Such were the terms, and so they still stand: No Myrian shall set foot in Zinrah. It is home and sanctuary to the Dhani. You see the Myrians still so afraid that they need box us in at all sides instead, yes? Similarly, we are not to tread upon or near Taloba. There is no telling what such an act would bring upon Zinrah. For a fool to venture so far into the wilds is questionable in itself.

“Alas, that is the story of our security now. These tunnels as you know them to be home are under the safeguard of a word. Caiyha has brought us life and peace as per Siku’s asking. We might not be here if not for her, and thus it is why we prayer to her and give thanks.

The rest of the lesson was insubstantial to the younglings in question. One found his fascination with the Goddess of flora and fauna alike strengthened, and the other only dwelled on thoughts of hatred for the Myrian savages who threatened her home. Saxani was already lurking outside the tunnels though, and it made good fuel for motivation. It kept her alive, and spiteful of the Myrians. Bones had his own wonderings and day dreams to attend to while Saxani dreamt of ripping the head off of the Myrian Queen who she’d never seen.

The history lesson ended within the bell. There were prayers to be sent, healing to be done, and other things that consume a priestess’s life. The youth group had not made it far from the School before a discussion developed. Within Siku’s Shrine, there was controversy on just who was the better goddess. There was favouritism between Siku, their mother of sorts, and Caiyha, to whom all Dhani in Falyndar owe their lives. When words were not enough – Smack! – action was.

A slap was nothing compared to what had already erupted. Saxani had her tail coiled around Bones and he his arms all over his face. They were slapping and punching without must aim, their young bodies and minds not yet requiring such. Saxani’s desire to squeeze the life out of something until its head popped up was what drove her, only she missed Bones’s neck by quite a few feet. She was slapping and punching at his face to try to get Bones’s hands off of her neck and upper body. The two twirled and slammed into the ground, both of their grasps broken.

Saxani could not grip quickly enough before Bones escaped her. It was a challenge still. Bones and Saxani squared off, Siku’s immortalized gaze upon them both. Saxani was impulsive then, and made the first lunge for Bones. Her claws were out for Bones’s neck, and her tail ready to wrap around him and squeeeeeeze. Although it was better suited for the Training Gallery, none of the youth were complaining, and no adult was really around to take notice. They kids could have their brawl and get away with it.

Siku guide me. A mantra drilled into Saxani's head served as her prayer and forticication of character as she aimlessly dove at Bones's neck. She had not a clue what she'd do should she even get her hands on him.

OOC and note to mod :
Since we're dating this a bit, let's scale it like so: the RB for Dhani constrictors is +10 wrestling. We can say they both know that, and just keep ourselves in check that we don't over step the novice level. Any other physical workings we can weave in are also nice.

Who ever's grading, if you can provide and lore from the priestess, it's much appreciated, the focus is the background of Zinrah's current standing in regional politics...I guess you can call it. I hope the rest of the thread is much entertaining. Enjoy!

Postby Ssafirsotibones on July 12th, 2012, 9:22 pm

Bones really wished he had his fathers weapon with him. He had used it before, and he had been teaching how to better use it. And in a fight were one was being attacked like this, a nice hunk of steel was helpful. But no such luck.

Honestly, Bones was a bit odd amongst Dhani. He did not revel in someone experiencing pain, even his foes. He preferred to end things quickly when hunting. He usually killed a beast before swallowing it, so it did not have to live on in agony for however long, slowly being digested... Though admittedly, this was not as tasty as living flesh... But he believed and worshiped more closely Caiyha, and her teachings.

This did not mean he was not a good warrior. He fought to defend himself, and those he cared for. Caiyha followers were not pacifists. If he had to, he would kill, and would have little remorse if it was for a good reason. He prided himself on his warrior spirit, something he felt akin to in the Myrians. Not that he would ever admit that. He did respect them for their strength, their pride, and their fighting prowess. Though he did dislike them for killing so many of his brethren, and for the fact that they would kill him upon sight. Though admittedly the Dhani would do the same in return to a Myrian. But he did love the thrill of battle, and allowing his instincts to take over as he immersed himself in it.

As he felt the first slap, fell into the steps of the fight, felt the pain, his instincts began to take over. It was one of the things that made him such a good warrior... Once he got going, and pumped up enough, his reasoning brain took the back seat, for his serpentine brain of instincts and action.

Even though the female Dhani was both a female, and a bit bigger than him, as she was older, he would not give up or surrender. Bones made sure to keep his tail out of reach and behind him, and swept back as the lunge was made at his neck.

He did not even recall what they were fighting over, as he swept in to make a punch at her snout, and then moved in to grapple, trying to push her back with force, linking hand to hand, while of course also trying to have his tail get the upper hand, and maneuvering it around to sweep her from the side, as she was likely doing the same.

Sashisaxani, the eyes of Siku are upon you. You grace Zinrah with your presence, and carry your mother’s name as if a title. Go forth and bring glory to your nest.

It was little more than fantasy, but Saxani still dreamed of a day when she could service her nest and her Queen. The Queen, or rather Queen Regent, was Sshnahiari at the time. Snhamtanabis, the heiress to the throne, was but a little younger than Saxani at the time. In fact, she was the same age as Bones, an odd coincidence. The royal blood wasn’t gracing them, though the young female knew of her. To think of Hiari as Queen suited her, though Saxani’s mind was young and easy to influence.

On that note, Saxani acted with the heightened vigor of a dreaming mind, chasing her dreams relentlessly. It started like so, taking out Bones. Younger or not, he was still able bodied. She remembered as well his resistance to Siku’s love, choosing Caiyha over her daughter, no matter how many facts Saxani brought to the debate. The fact was it was Caiyha who saved Zinrah…and in some respects, Saxani knew she was wrong. That’s how they got here. Actions would speak louder than any words. She’d beat the sense into Bones if she had to! Constrictors were bullied to their own too at times.

While Bones started acting on instincts, Saxani had taken the next step in her own combat. She was looking actively for those weaknesses, to exploit them. She did, however, get caught up in her planning at times, and failed to act to her fullest potential. That was her weakness, hesitation. Once she set the plan in motion, it became impulsive though. Bones would have to catch her between steps, while Saxani had to overcome Bones’s baser influences.

Bones popped her in the snout. Saxani jerked back as Bones lunged at her. She was overtaken by the initial shooting pain as it dulled. That would be sore in a few minutes. Their claws interlocked on the right side, Saxani trying to keep Bones away as she comforted herself and her nose. The male drove over her, his tail sweeping and she went down, her body falling the foot or two into the rock before she needed to stop and react to Bones. Saxani didn’t mind fighting on her back so much. It surely kept Bones’s tail from slithering around her…as she intended to do to him.

Bones had his chance to act now as Saxani plotted out her first attack besides the failed lunge. Her left claw interlocked with his and worked against him and gravity. As strong as she was, Bones was still a big boy too, driven for that matter. The female Dhani foresaw her future as she idolized it, a very immediate future. She would get her tail around his mid section. Once she had a hold of him, she’d bend back his little fingers till the knuckles popped, and let go. She could take his back then and get a choke hold in. She knew one better than all others. Her right arm would go over his right shoulder and weave under his chin, against the front of the neck. She’d plant her left arm on his left shoulder. She could grab hold of her left bicep with her right arm once she was over, and then lock her left arm down, by bending her arm. From there, she needed to just squeeze, her whole body would squeeze over his neck and lungs and utterly crush her prey…opponent. She was having trouble seeing that line. She had to make sure she didn’t kill Bones in the process. Saxani failed to think of how he’d react, so once more it was all an ideal thought.

Bones’s window of opportunity was maybe five seconds. If all Saxani’s plans failed, she’d be slapping and scratching at Bones’s face in no time. That was her basic instinct, like a thrashing child.

OOCYou know you want to let Bones get caught in a choke hold… xD C’mon!

His pop in her "face" worked, making her stumble back, pull away from the pain for an instant. Then they were grappling, both using their giant over-sized human limbs in there dhani form.

Really, at this point, Bones was not fully in control... His snake mind taking over. Which really was not that bad of a thing, as long as he let his conscious mind poke and prod it in the best direction, while letting his instinctual self do the work. It was an odd combination, but seemed to work best for him.

And while he might have been more reserved before, he was all offense, all about driving the attack, and pressing forward at what he saw as a threat.

Unlike the other dhani, he did not take time to plot things out, to plan. He simply reacted to what was before him, and did what had to be done.

He drove forward seeing the female fall back, pressed his attack. He lashed out at her, swinging his fist at her enhanced humanoid torso's chest, sending his other fist swinging at the side of her head. Then he moved in, trying to land on top of her, and to begin getting the upper hand and weaving himself around her to corral and control her.

Saxani wrapped her tail around Bones all she could as he approached and pounced her, his arms swinging. She struggled to keep her tail locked around his; attempting to straighten his out and keep it off of her more than choke him out. She felt the strain in her lower tail as that hold took place.

Back up top, Saxani had other problems. The first blow hit her and almost knocked the wind fully out of her. It took a while, but after much struggle she was sure she had some grip on his wrists, or arms. So she wasn’t that sure, but she was fighting to keep a hold of him. The punch went for her head, and she sought to greet it with her fangs.

While Bones fought with fists, Saxani had her claws and teeth. Saxani lunged out to bite bones, on his snout as he hit her. Her claws, wherever she could grab him, were trying to dig into his flesh and claw deep. Like a cat, she was grab hold of him inside, and then remove him. She was getting a hold enough to move. If one opportunity or another presented itself, she was moving. She started to try to move his arms to her right side, and scale his back. She needed to get that far before she could even try to get the choke hold. She was grabbing, therefore, at his shoulders and neck, her claws reaching out once more, and digging.

The two of them met, as most Dhani did, trying to fight and gain the upper hand, some leverage, a position of power from which they could trounce their foe...

Their tails thrashing and writhing, trying to wrap around the other, to pull them in and constrict them till they submitted. Both of them trying to wrap around the other... But neither getting to far in their snake infused, writhing, wrestling match. He could not get a good hold on her, to pin her down, but neither could she get a good grip on him for long. He kept in motion, making sure she did not wrap him, did not corral him, but failed in doing so to her either... It was really anyone's match at this point. Bones knew he could not let her take the tail match though, or else he would be in trouble...

Bones managed to avoid her fangs from sinking into him, but acting like a beast, she did manage to scratch her hands and nails over him, leaving shallow bloody streaks across his arms, and a few on his shoulders and back, which stung a lot worse than they actually did damage.

Letting out a hiss of pain, he did lashed out at her, trying to slap her in the side of her head/snout, to catch her off guard. Now that they were up close, it was harder for him to wind up and get a deep punch or anything, and instead he tucked in, and tried to send a elbow into the side of her chest, a common grappling move, while trying to keep away from her nails and teeth, with which she mainly seemed to be attacking.

Though he was only of some success, and in his next attacks ended up getting scratched several more times. Luckily he was able to keep moving and stop her from getting to much of a purchase, and from really scraping in deep.

The longer they fought, the more calling for blood Bones mind grew, the more he forgot he was not to be killing her... It had been chimes since he had recalled what they were even fighting over, long since the fact slipping from his mind... At this point he did not care... All that mattered was staying alive... Staying alive, by any means, as he always got when he fell deeply into blood and battle... He would make Myri proud, for his battle spirit, if not for the whole being a Dhani thing. Not that it had ever really been said, Myri's actual opinion on Dhani. It was more of an assumed thing, through the way her people treated them.

The smacking to the snout was laughable, but the elbow dig was a problem. Saxani took the hit, but couldn’t really manage another. This wasn’t wrestling anymore, from what she recognized. If Bones wanted to play rough, she’d play rough. To prevent any further elbow throws, Saxani reached for the elbow, his arm being tucked firmly into his chest. If successful, she’d have his arm stuck to his chest. This is why she didn’t mind being on bottom, there was a great amount of control to the position.

Assuming she had a good enough of a hold on his elbow, Saxani would try to push his torso to the side. The superior strength of the females was known, but was it enough for this one? Would he be so quick as to meet her, or would he have to catch his fall from the rocky earth? With his torso out of the way, she could finish her goal in taking his back. She had the plan in mind and set it into action.

Saxani reached for the elbow in an attempt to tuck it in. From there she’d push Bones’s upper mass to her left, to continue her scale over his left side onto his back. She could take a smack to the tit, even if it did sting and bruise, but she didn’t want to deal with anymore of his reaching arms. Up close she might be able to overpower him. Where her technique was lacking, she could supplement with force.

She intended to bring this match to a close once she had his back, for good.

Postby Ssafirsotibones on October 22nd, 2012, 11:23 pm

Bones suddenly had a burst of clarity, in amongst the burn of the trails of ripped skin from her scratches. Why was he fighting? Why was he fighting? Not to live as he usually fought for... For something else... But he could not recall what... Surely nothing important...

Instead of pushing the attack, Bones took his short moment of clarity, and moved back and away from the Dhani he was fighting...

"Wait... Why are we fighting?"

Bones asked, a confused look on his face... Or at least, what would be clearly understandable to a Dhani as a confused look. Another race looking at his snake head, would be unlikely to unravel the emotions he was showing on it.

Continuing to move back, he could hear off in the distance someone approaching... Possibly someone who would be angered at there fight... He took in a deep rasp of air, and moved further back.

"We have no reason to fight... And I have no need to get in trouble, for whatever you think we should fight for."

That said, Bones had decided he was done. He had decided to end it. And not by conceding, but by deciding the fight did not matter and was not relevant. A fact which might actually prove to further enrage the other Dhani.

Whoever was approaching was getting closer, and Bones eyed the sound... Feeling the bits of himself that had been scratched up, and left bleeding... Luckily none of the wounds were deep.

To Bones, Caiyha was not worth it, and might have slipped his mind, furthering his internal blasphemy. Saxani, however, could vaguely recall. Siku, a mother to her, her highest queen and mistress, had been insulted. Seeking to do as her elders taught her – to please Siku – she fought for the snake-goddess' honor relentlessly. Saxani would not allow the fight to end in forfeit. A beating was worth it. Her will would be as steel and Bones would submit to her this day.

She took Bones' pause for her chance. As decisive as ever, she closed around the male Dhani and began to choke him snuggly against her every muscled curve. She would hear it, even if it was a grunt choked from his lithe throat. In his passiveness, Saxani would overcome him easily, pushing forward with each step back, seizing his body for her own, a prize. It took a moment to bring things to a near end. The scale-induced vibrations approaching were merely another challenge. She'd end him before they could see anything.

In full force, Saxani contracted her muscles to stretch Bones and then squash him in her constriction. She would hear it. "Submit," she commanded. Her arm crossed over his throat and grabbed onto her bicep. She locked her arm back and squeezed with her whole body. "Submit, I say!" Bones, in his futile attempt to reason, had put himself in a situation. His honor would still suffer in the nest, whether he figured so or not. Saxani would not stop unless he would submit, else he'd fall unconscious or someone would beat her off of him.

Additional Notes :
I absolutely loved the Priestess's version of the tale, because you know just how she spun it in favor of the Dhani, how a Myrian would tell a similar yet entirely different story.

Bones, your very unbiased look at Myri, and even a strange respect for her, wanting to gain the warrior Goddess's favor, was an interesting twist indeed, which countered nicely to Saxani's very traditional thoughts of Siku as her mother and Queen. Overall a nice fight between two massive Dhani, even if young.

I noticed you had skills in all forms of unarmed combat, so if you think a different distribution of Xp is more fitting, let me know.
