Let's go Raiding!

Alright folks. I've gotten a few questions about how to go about raiding, so I'm creating this for discussion on the raiding event. Just like the Zith Attack thread, this will pertain to anything related to the Drykas and their attempt to forcibly bring in new blood to their populace. So ask questions, discuss it among yourselves, find people to go raiding with.

Jackalope's Notes

1. How do you go raiding?

Pretty simple. During the raiding time frame listed in the calendar, go get them. That would be the 40th when raids start, and the last of the raiders return on the 80th. You can go after NPCs, or if you can coordinate it, PCs, and bring them back. I personally know of two PCs that have expressed interest in making their way over, but I'm not doing the dirty work for you. :P

2. Where do I take those filthy Sylirans to?

Well, first things first, the Drykas have built themselves a lovely base camp right on the edge of the Cyphrus/Sylira border. The raiders have the job to bring back these slaves future residents of Endrykas. From there they will be taken care of until the next group is escorted to Endrykas to be sold distributed throughout the clans and pavilions. You can work at the basecamp this season, as is stated in the location itself. Almost anything can be called for, so PM me if you're interested. You can use the basecamp just like any other location in the game. Just call it your location in your thread and have at it!

3. What about those rascally knights? '

There's all a bunch of pushovers, so you've got nothing to worry about.

4. No, really. They have full plate and big knives. What do we do?

Okay, okay. So there will be more info to come regarding the knights. Basically, the further along our timeline we get, the more severe the knight reaction will be. The best luck in raiding would be early on, as people will grow more cautious and the knights will be more vigilant in protecting their lands and people. The majority of raiders have knowledge that they would be committing suicide to engage in direct melee with most of these ironclad warriors.

5. Wait. Engage in combat?

Oooh. Yeah. It's a possibility. The knights and Sylirans aren't exactly wanting to be kidnapped. The Drykas aren't looking to kill anyone, as they know bloodshed will only cause things to escalate more quickly. Those captured are actually going to be treated extremely well as they try and assimilate them into a new culture. Catch more flies with honey and all that jazz.

6. Who are we trying to kidnap?

Children are priority. They can adapt to the culture better than adults who are set in their way. Women are next. Men are least important. While Endrykas is always suffering from a shortage of males, it's extremely unlikely that a male would bend knee to a new lifestyle. If it seems possible they could convert, bring them. Otherwise they're more trouble than they are worth.

7. What about if they are Zith?

Say it with me everyone. Kill the Zith! But seriously. We aren't limited to only capturing humans. Just..no Zith.

8. What if I don't like this raiding idea?

Deal with it!!!Here's a tough one to answer. It's a difficult thing to wrap your head around. It makes a lot of people feel like they are the bad guys. But you'd gotta look at it like this. The Drykas as a whole feel like they are well within their rights to do this, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. The whole thing reeks of arrogance and desperation. This isn't about any individual, it's about restoring the Drykas to a place of strength. The pox really hurt them. 20% of children born in the season after the pox ended were stillborn. It wasn't a good situation. On top of it, the marriage edict wasn't being adhered to as much they wished. It was a drastic choice, and not one they made lightly. They know relations with the city would be soured, but people are the most important thing. Clan. Pavilion. Individual. Without each other, none of them truly exist.

9. Can I choose not to participate? Or even better, can I leave because I disagree?

Yes, to both. I'm (usually) not going to force people to participate in plots. Just know that leaving the city during a time of need is likely to be frowned upon in the majority of Pavilions. As for not participating at all, Endrykas still has to move on and keep living like normal even with these raids happening, so you don't have to participate directly in anything related to it.

Raiding Threads

If you post any raiding threads going on in his thread, I'll keep a running list with dates and status(open, complete, blah blah blah). Additionally, I'll post any modded quest events here as well. Multiple events -can- happen on the same day. But if 3290 different raids try and occur on the same day, I might suggest a date change. ;)

40th-A Change In Circumstances (Quest) 3 Drykas PC slots open, 0 Syliran (or transient PCs, it seems) open.
