Timestamp: Summer 47, 513 Leila stood there, in the woods just outside of Zeltiva, looking at something that soured her mood slightly. She was staring at a stream that she'd seen earlier in the season, back when it was babbling, flowing, and alive. But now it was just a dry ditch, carving like a scar through the landscape. Leila wonder if it had simply dried up because of the heat wave that had rolled through several days back, or if it had been blocked somewhere further upstream. But that wasn't the only thing that was bad in this area. Leila saw many of the plants in the area were beginning to die. Bala's heart would break if she saw that. Flowers were wilting, bushes were starting to brown, vines began to wither. Leila wanted to do something to help, but the project was so much bigger than her. The question was, should she try and find the cause of the stream drying up? Or try and transplant and save as many useful plants as she could? She decided to take an inventory of what plants nearby were worth, and able, to be transplanted and kept. She had plenty of the local herbs in her own gardens, so she could try to harvest some of the leaves. But there was a blackberry vine wrapped around a couple of tree bases, and she really wanted to add that to her fences. She normally wouldn't even consider moving them except in winter or early spring, but if she didn't, she was sure they would die. "Would you like to come home with me little guy? I'd take good care of you!" |
