Leila Dianna Hughes Appearance Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 19 Birthday: 15, Spring 494 AV Birthplace: Zeltiva Appearance: Leila stands just over five feet tall, auburn hair tumbling to her shoulders. Very few would call her beautiful, cute perhaps, but certainly not beautiful. Slim of waist, slender of hips, and not well endowed. She often wears plain dresses, or the occasional slacks and boots. She often gets told she has pretty eyes, but she feels that's just what people say when they can't think of any true compliments. Character Concept Leila is an innocent, wide eyed woman, bounding with curiosity. She's still barely more than a girl, having not fully matured and grown up. She's gone on no outstanding adventures, nor has she been the center of torrid affairs. She has a few acquaintances, but no one who she could muster the courage to die for, or would return the favor. But two things truly define her: her insatiable thirst to learn as much as she can, and the ever growing feeling of stircraziness. Character History Leila has lived a simple life in Zeltiva. She was born to her mother Leina and her father Gerardt. She recently left her parents' house to strike out on her own, after choosing not to take the University route. She got a job at World's End Grotto as a bartender, though she liked it in the beginning, she quickly grew discontent. She was approved by the Lord of Council for a business loan, and soon she had an Herbalism Shop being built near Bree's Bivouac. She made many business contacts in preparation for the opening of her shop. She made a few friends over the season, the most prominent of which is Ricky, the Wave Guard. She developed a crush on him rather quickly, which was a new experience for the girl. But it soon met rejection, for upon Ricky's return from Nyka, he announced that he was going to be a father of a woman unknown to Leila, and she experienced heartache for the first time. My dad is great, one of the nicest men I know, very hardworking, but his biggest flaw is letting my mother boss him around all the time. Her family was moderately wealthy, and they often mingled with other people of wealth. Leina had several suitors, but the one that finally got her hand in marriage was a shopkeeper named Gerardt Hughes. He was a fairly successful herbalist, and for a while they were happy. But then he found his business beginning to struggle, failing to keep up with the competition that was growing in Zeltiva. Eventually he was forced to sell his shop, and he dedicated his life to raising his only daughter, Leila. Because of his shop's failure, Leina took control of the family, in all aspects of it, from money, to the raising of their child. Her goal was to raise Leila as a proper lady, to marry a wealthy suitor, to increase their family's status. He originally worked as a sailor, traveling along various trade routes. He eventually worked his ways up his ship, taking care of the ships books, as well as the minor injuries aboard. A couple of decades of working for the Sailor's Guild and he earned enough money to open his own herbalism shop. His shop did well for a few years, but as the population of Zeltiva flourished, more businesses were opened, and Gerardt couldn't compete. He sold his business, and dedicated his life to his daughter Leila. He went from head of the family to mentor, relinquishing all control to his wife. When his daughter isn't around, he's prone to bouts of depression, but when she is, he lights right up.
