Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

The Arma'Drex Smithy is the resident weapons and armor store in Riverfall. Located on the second tier, the part of the smithy that juts from the rocky cliff side is low and stout while the rest of the structure lies embedded in the cliff side. The entirety of the building screams simplicity from the outside, for it lacks much adornment that might be associated with such a profitable business. Most of the structure is white washed, excepting several blackened areas where vents release smoke from the forges, which run for most of the day. As one approaches the shop they will notice the single oak door that wedges itself just a little too tightly in its stone frame, a result of Riverfall's sea air. Upon entering, two antechambers open up to their left and right.

The left chamber houses the many weapons of the Arma'Drex smithy. A long tavern style counter with glass fronting can be found by the back wall, with racks of weapons thrown up behind it. Small or miscellaneous weapons can be found behind the glass front of the counter. Sometimes Haiduk, the proprietor of the weapon's portion, even carries versions loaded with poison or a particular philter. However, it would invariably be cheaper to simply purchase the poison oneself and apply it if one had the skill. Out behind the counter can be found metal barrels of polearms, maces and axes hanging from jutting racks. Hanging from the ceiling like a chandelier is a stuffed doll that appears as if it has been sewn together many times. At a word, Haiduk can lower the dummy exactly as one would a chandelier, and allow his customers to test their weapons.

If one were to move into the right antechamber, one would be assaulted by a world of manikins. In this chamber a small circular stage predominates the middle of the room. A skylight sheds natural light onto the platform, and a nearby foot lever causes it to spin on its axis. Many times customers will come in to find whoever had gotten there before them standing on said stage, being fitted for armor. Lining the walls of the square chamber are dozens of manikins wearing assorted suits or just pieces of armor. At any given moment Loriim, this side's proprietor, is given over to picking up one or two pieces from various manikins to create new armor for the customer. Or if nothing fits, he simply records their measurements and makes a custom set, for a small increase in price of course.

Both chambers have rather wide tunnels leading back into the shop. These tunnels merge soon, and come into the smithing area. Four large forges line this room, each emptying its load of smoke into a series of vents that heats the shop before releasing it. Barrels of water, anvils, racks of hammers, and ingots of dozens of metals line this room. In the very middle is an iron table the smiths use for any manner of things. People who do not work here are able to rent out one of the forges for a small fee, and many an Akalak has come to the smithing room of the Arma'Drex to forge their Lakan.

Haiduk :
Haiduk was born and raised in Riverfall. From a young age he decided he would forge the best Lakan in Riverfall. Most of his childhood was spent practicing his craft when not training. He had few close friends, but many acquaintances, for everybody respected his hard work and persistence. When the time came to forge his Lakan, the entire city held its breath. This was the moment Haiduk had been building up to his entire life. Today, Haiduk has what is considered to be one of the most finely crafted Lakan in Riverfall.

The weaponsmith of the Arma'Drex is quiet and focused for the most part, this side of Haiduk. Most of the time it is he who is in control, because his other side Ureig, cannot seem to focus on the task of weaponsmithing. Ureig and Haiduk have a rather easy truce though: Haiduk does the work, and Ureig makes his counterpart relax when the time comes. Where Haiduk is introverted and usually not too brilliant around people, Ureig delights in surrounding himself with others, and loves playing jokes even more so; although often his idea of amusement is rather cruel.

Skills
Weaponsmithing 87; Weaponry: Lakan 58; Blacksmithing 36; Rhetoric 24

Loriim :
Short and light for an Akalak, it is surprising that Loriim is an armorsmith. However, he spent much of his childhood working and studying armor. His lack of skill with weapons almost got him killed during both his Rites, and he bears numerous scars to tell the tale. Many would think him to be a grizzled veteran of sorts, but Loriim is anything but. Now he works with his armor, safely away from Glassbeaks and Zith.

Loriim gets along fantastically with Ureig, and enjoys Haiduk's company as well. He enjoys the pranks and tricks Ureig delights in, though often gets uncomfortable when they turn nasty and does not often trick people himself. Loriim himself is rather introverted, but enjoys relaxing when not working with a customer. His other half, Belladus, is the polar opposite of Loriim. Belladus revels is stone serious, revels in combat, loud, and exceptionally undisciplined. In his childhood, Loriim often struggled when suppressing Belladus, but now Loriim's trained mind easily thwarts Belladus and his impulsive nature. The darker side of the armor smith resents him deeply, mainly for his lack of skill with any weaponry and lack of desire to fight. Loriim shares this sentiment, though will begrudgingly admit it was only Belladus that saw him through his Rites.

[Riverfall Location] The Arma'Drex Smithy

Postby Raiha on September 1st, 2010, 2:17 am

30th of Summer, 510 AV.

Are we sure this is a good idea? Raiha wanted to know as Kanikra made her way to the Arma’drex. This was apparently where to go for weapons in Riverfall, and Kanikra was not about to rest until she got her hands on some.

Will you listen to yourself? Kanikra scoffed. ‘Is this a good idea?’ Really, Raiha. We need to practice. You have a lot of work to do… and not just with your birds and Kelvics. No more of this ‘taking it easy’ garbage. We’ll work hard on bettering our physical skills, and when we’re doing downtime from that, then you can hunt and fly the birds, and back to it. Besides, there’s more to learn. This isn’t Mura any more. How many times do I have to tell you that? She worked on getting the door open. It took a bit of pulling – two hands on the handle, one foot against the stone wall – just to tug it loose. Clearly, someone had been by earlier and wanted to make sure it stayed closed. She recovered her balance and pulled it open the rest of the way before stepping inside and heading through the door on the left, taking a look around as she stepped into what was clearly a weapons emporium.

Well, she mused, we’ve died and gone to the Ukalas… Kanikra’s eyes roamed around as she slowly made her way inside, browsing over the rows and rows of weapons. There was no one manning the counters, and Kanikra, after browsing for about half a bell’s time, with no one showing up, finally shouted at the door, “Hello!?” She thought she’d seen something she’d like to try, after all, and it didn’t seem like anyone was going to come out unless she got their attention somehow.

The sound of twin hammers had been muffled by a heavy door, and the same portal had blocked Kanikra's call of greeting. It was nearly another fifteen chimes before it opened, and a muscled Akalak stepped out. He was sweaty, and soot covered the leather smith's apron he wore. Gloves that dwarfed any human's adorned his hand, and his hair was tied back in a ponytail.

The smith stopped and blinked as he strode into the antechamber, staring at the waiting Akontak. "How long have you been waiting? I did not hear your entrance." He walked behind his counter and rested a hand on a crank, "I am Haiduk. Do you need the practice dummy down at all, or are you simply purchasing?"

[Riverfall Location] The Arma'Drex Smithy

Postby Raiha on November 14th, 2010, 5:07 am

Kanikra stared at the two bows just beyond the door from which the burly Akalak had emerged from. She could have sworn... because Raiha did, too. Those bows. She'd never seen anything like the seemingly off-balance longbow that was just too big for most people to understand it, and the short bow... "About half a bell," the Akontak admitted, coming over to where Haiduk was standing. "I think I'd be needing the dummy, actually - I'm interested in that pair of long-handled flanged maces you have over there... but I'd like to test the weight of them." And how better than to actually hit something? She pointed out the flanged maces hanging up on a display rack. They were gorgeous, but they looked pretty heavy.

"Also... those bows that you had just beyond the door, the compound longbow and the short bow... Those aren't for sale, are they?" She angled her head, looking up at him, curiosity on her young-looking face. She really hoped they were... especially if they'd belonged to Lisran, the Akalak who had taught her the basics of the weapons years ago.

"Well, then, we'll bring the dummy down for you and you can test them," the Akalak turned the crank to bring the dummy down from the rafters, ceasing when the much-abused puppet was at a proper height for the blue-skinned female to hit it. "These ones, then?" he lifted the pair of heavy maces with flanged heads from the rack that Kanikra had pointed out, and she could only nod. They were longer than a human would normally like, but one had to accommodate the longer limbs of the Akalak somehow, and the longer handles were a perfectly adequate way to do it. He lifted the weapons from the rack. "Cold iron," he told the Akontak, who accepted one, and then the other, her limbs sagging slightly from the weight - clearly, she hadn't expected that, but she recovered well.

"Thank you," Kanikra studied the heavy head of the weapon up close, gripping it tightly, leaving its identical twin in the grasp of her other hand. The mechanics would be very different from Raiha's suvai. The weapons could not be more dissimilar. Still, she was going to give it a good shot. As she swung the mace from below to strike at the middle of the dummy, the smith leaned on the counter and watched.

"They're a good size and weight for you, anyway. I thought they might go more to a youngster, but they might just be adequate for your purposes…" the Akontak nodded when she turned back to him. "Now, the bows… Composite was the word you were looking for, and only the shortbow is composite. The longbow is not. They're used. They're in good shape, however. The owner needed to pay some debts, and I agreed to a trade, because they're rarely made here, but they're of good stock."

Kanikra nodded, placing both maces carefully on the counter. She touched the longer length, feeling it. Perhaps a little more worn than she remembered, but it was much older, after all… and who knew how much use it had seen since she had watched him with them on Konti Isle? "How much?" Her eyes searched the Akalak's face. She gave nothing away in terms of her emotions or what connection she may have had to the weapons.

"My price is 160 gold mizas for both bows, which includes a discount on account of their having been used. The maces are 90 gold mizas for the pair… bringing your total to 250 gold mizas, and the arrows… they're good ones, Myrian made, or so they say… for another 2 gold mizas." If he expected an argument, or haggling, he was disappointed, because Kanikra merely pulled a bag from her pack and counted them out in stacks of ten while the smith pulled the crude leather covers over the heads of the maces, pulling at the laces to tie them tight, and laid the bows with their bundles of arrows beside them on the counter.

"Thank you," Kanikra gathered her purchases, adjusting them with her gangling arms, and headed out.

Postby Treccho on December 5th, 2012, 4:10 pm

2nd day of Winter 512 av
Treccho struggled with the door but managed to get himself in the door on his own this time. He was proud of his accomplishment until he saw that the owner of the establishment had been watching him struggle the whole time. Treccho became suddenly overcome with embarrassment he quickly asked what spears he have.
the owner listed of the types of spears available Treccho listened but didn't make eye contact.
The short spear sounded the most appealing and he offered the store owner the 2 gold Miza's that the short spear was worth and quickly exited the store.

Spring 1, 513AV

Riaris headed into the weapons shop ready to make a purchase. He wasn't the type to do much shopping and when he did, he was sure to know before hand exactly what it was that he was going for. On this day he looked to buy a weapon, but not just any weapon. For seasons now, he had practiced with a wooden replica of a two-bladed sword, and was finally ready to purchase one of his own.

For him it was simple, force his way in through the tightly wedged door, find the Arma'Drex Smithy and place his order. If the item was already in stock then, he would pay for it and be on his way. If not, then he would pay and return later to pick up his new weapon.

[Riverfall Location] The Arma'Drex Smithy

Postby Khal'iah on April 15th, 2013, 7:30 am

Timestamp: 2nd of Fall 512 AV

In the mere minutes before the sun elevated to the position of noon, an Akalak by the name Khal'iah Vojak made his way to the Arma'Drex Smithy. His plan was relatively simple: get in, make the two purchases he had in mind, and get out; though, he did not expect to be hindered by a door of all things. At first, the violet-skinned warrior reached out to the door and gave it a simple tug, only to discover that it held fast and would not budge. He gave it another tame, yet forceful tug, and the door remained closed. 'I don't have time for this...' he spat mentally, heat flooding to his cheeks as he hoped that no one was around to see a grown Akalak fiddling with a door. Finally, after throwing caution to the wind, the door admitted Khal'iah within when he damn near tore it off its hinges with his next tug.

With the obstacle cleared, the young warrior took his time browsing about the shop, embarking first into the left chamber and then the right. Ultimately, after having been weighed, measured, and fitted, the Akalak headed to the counter with a Chain Shirt that was tailored to fit. He paid the clerk the total of 100 gold mizas and was on his very, merry way.

Early Spring, 513 AV

Kavala walked into the armory and looked around. She made an immediate beeline for the bladed weapons, looking at the long swords and gladius', but rally finding nothing she knew enough about to pick out for herself. So instead she split off and headed for the section she knew she wanted. Kavala needed to restock her crossbow bolts, blowgun needles and buy some weaponry for The Dreamcatcher. Kavala carefully set the ammunition on the counter and then quietly asked for a several light harpoons and a singular heavy harpoon to be delivered down to the shipwrights and installed on the Dreamcatcher which was almost ready. Everything was quickly arranged, paid for, and delivered to her satisfaction.

spending :
Crossbow bolts (10) – 1gm x 10 = 10 gm
Blowgun Needles (20) – 1 gm x 5 = 5 g
Harpoon, light – 10 gm x 2 = 20 gm
Harpoon, heavy – 50 gm x 1 = 50 gm

Total = 85 GM

Postby Ans SpringBorn on June 13th, 2013, 3:35 pm

Ans walked in nervously, to see all these weapons and two big burly dudes swinging hammers put him on edge. Ans knew what he wanted but still studied all of the weapons and armor. As he slowly approached the two men he said

"Here's the gold, I'll have a dagger and brass knuckles please..."

The men took the gold and handed him the weapons slowly. Ans was walking out the door when suddenly he wanted to test these out. He soon thought better of that insane thought and strolled back home.
