By Chance or Fate [Vanator]

Kahno meets old man Vanator.. Just a coincidental meeting, or is there something for them to learn from one another?

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Kahno thought very briefly on the man's question. His golden eyes wandered upwards as he considered his answer.

"I wasn't taught. No one has taught me anything, really. I'm not sure. I'm confused at what you mean though. Does not everyone speak in this tongue?" Upon thinking further, though, the wolfman changed his mind.

Shrugging, he posed another standpoint. "I've always been in the woods, it's my home. But just as you've wandered in, so have others. I was not always... So... I'm not sure of the word. But I've not always approached two-pawed kinds like yourself. When they come, they speak. And they talk. I have only recently begun to make myself known. As your kind come, there is a change in the availability of prey. I thought it would be in my favor to to turn them back the way they came. It seems, though, every time I encounter one of you, I take something from the encounter. You seem to do me more good than harm. For a long time I've listened and watched from hiding, prowling around and scared. I grew angry and tired of your kind, though. I wanted you to leave. Perhaps I'm more lenient. I cannot explain why or how or what I've learned. It is beyond me how my memory and mind serve me. It just happens, and I just remember."

Kahno paused yet again, unsure of how what he had said could have possibly made any sense. It seemed unreasonable, but to him, things just were.

Notes :
I gave you a bit of Wilderness Survival for being so attuned to animal body language, which I feel is pretty important when facing down an animal in the wild. I also went back and forth between Rhetoric and Socialization for the chatter in the beginning, but felt Rhetoric was more warranted because you were socializing for a reason, not just making small talk. After the tension cooled a bit, we went back and forth between the two skills for the usual reasons.

Otherwise, very nice thread. Your threads are always such a pleasure to read, and your talent as a writer makes them easy to read and enjoy, even if I wasn't grading. Good job, as always :)
