Clyde shuffled back the the spot, once he put out the flames that had started in a few small spots. Easy enough to stomp out. There was a small burnt patch devoid of grass now, were his first scroll had been. He thought for a moment, what could have gone wrong? But was interrupted by Elaine's question. "Clyde, why do you need that for? It's not a child toy for sure..." He smiled back at her, shook her head, and took out a new piece of parchment, and his things to write with. As he copied down his prior Glyphs, he answered her question. "Of course not. And usually it is not like that. That only happened, because I petched something up. But I will get it right eventually. Usually Glyphs help to stabilize magic, or to hold it, or to even aid me in casting. But... Well as I think I said I am trying something new, and such experimentation usually involves some failures. That is why I am doing this at a small scale, before I scale it up. I will get it right soon." Writing out the three focus of different sizes, the small path going out to the switch, then the splitting to make two new paths that led to the focus. With the barrier going around the first focus, the right side being dropped by the trigger and its wording. He worded it the same as before. With all his previous steps visible before him, he pondered what he had done wrong, muttering to himself. "The paths are fine... That is not the issue. And it only came out of the focus and switch... So they are the problem... Perhaps I need to reinforce the switch, or mark with another Glyph what it should do? And I think some of the sparks of flame caught the scroll on fire, which ended up releasing it all..." Clyde bent down to the switch, and examined it closer. Clyde drew a < Shape inside of the switch, and wrote above it 1/2. The funnel to mark that the outlet was wider and spread out, and the number to show it was spread equally in half. He thought for a moment more, and looked at the entrance Glyphs. Just to be on the safe side, he drew a second row of a barrier identical to the first, around the focus, editing the trigger and widening it so it would also now lower this second layer. Clyde exuded another small ball of res the same as the first, lit it into flames, and tossed it downward into the main focus Glyph, transmuting it all to flames. Running back to his safe spot, he motioned for Elaine. "Alright, try two. Ready when you are." |
