Note for whomever grades thisFor my part of this thread, you don't need to produce a grade as I am retiring this character. Thank you for your time, and attention.

35th of Summer, 513 AV

It was another beautiful day in Ravok, one that found him exiting the Azure Reflections, having picked up an outfit for his master. With the rich fabric tucked underneath his arm, he decided to take the long way back to the Nitrozian Estate. After all he had plenty of time before he had to be back, and it was not often that he got away from the forge to see the beauty of the Noble District.

With it's intricate architecture, and the variety of aromas coming from buildings, it made for a pleasant detour. He also in taking this route had little to fear about someone accosting him for the fabrics, or otherwise ruining the fabrics. Not to say that he wasn't still wary, after his little incident in the market a few days back, he looked out for any kids that might knock him over.

Despite himself though, he found his attention focused more and more on the buildings around him, and less so on the people around him, walking gradually slower. After all, what was the point of taking a the long way back if you didn't stop to enjoy the sights.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on July 16th, 2013, 8:45 pm

Once again, people could see the young ocelot Kelvic wandering about the streets of Ravok. Kalina had apparently not learned her lesson from the last two days she had ventured out of the apartment, whether it was with her Master, or on her own. But the Kelvic was bored. And so, the best way to entertain herself was by heading out into the city.

This time, though, she had never even travelled far; literally just heading out of the front door and across the walkway to sit on the edge of the canal and stare into the water. Once again, the Kelvic was in her ocelot form, and her tail flicks, more than it would usually, as she catches sight of her first fish of the day, her moss green eyes following it, unblinking. Ever since Amelia had told her what the creatures in the water were called, Kalina's obsession with them had grown exponentially. Every opportunity the Kelvic received would be spent staring into the murky waters of the canals that made Ravok so quintessentially unique.

The young creature tilts her head to the side, and she crouches down, once again shedding the playful persona to become what she truly was, by nature, a killer. Despite the instincts she is currently displaying, however, she still finds herself frightened of the water. If not frightened, ant the very least she was nervous. Hesitantly, she shuffles closer, her paws sitting right on the edge and her claws digging in to the wet wood on the edge. With one paw, she reaches down and, at a painfully slow pace, dips her paw into the water.

Cold. Yep, that was what the water was. wet and cold. And a little bit dirty. Shuffling back at speed, she wants to move away from the edge so she could examine her paw. Amelia had told her that the water was safe, and not... 'salty' like the sea water. But Kalina had to decide for herself. The predator nature disappears as fast as it had appeared and once again she was a kitten, less than a year old.

In her rush to get away from the dangers of the edge of the walkway, though, she pays no attention to what was going on around her. It was too late before she realises the approaching man and growls loudly as his foot crunches down on the middle of her tail. She leaps a good distance into the air. The notably good natured Kelvic, with an easy going and immature, if a little excitable, temperament has little shame in losing her temper for the first time as feline survival instincts kick in. Without much thought, she protracts her claws and swipes at the closest part of the man to her, all the while she continues to hiss.

Adrian barely registered stepping on something soft, when a loud growl disturbed him from his thoughts, and as quick as he could manage, he turned to see what it was. As he did however, the claws tore through the fabric of his pants to rip into the flesh beneath, and he cried out in surprise, dropping the bundle as he twisted to see what it was.

To his surprise, his attacker was a wild looking cat, and at the sight of such a beast, he took a step back, shocked. His first thought was how exactly did this creature even get to be in the noble district? It certainly didn't just swim here, cause that would have been quite the feat, leaving the only remaining conclusion was that it was brought it here. But then, where was it's owner?

He spared a moment to look briefly around, but no one to moved to claim the beast, and he didn't dare to look much longer lest the cat go in for another strike at him for his perceived offense. Which left him with a problem. How was he supposed to deal with the creature?

Taking out a couple of pieces of dried meat from his bag, he tossed it on the ground between them, if only to distract the feline while he decided what to do about it, and his torn leg. This day had just gotten a whole lot more complicated.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on July 18th, 2013, 7:44 pm

The young ocelot continues to growl and hiss as she remains low to the ground, paws crossing over each other slowly, she half circles the man. All the while, her eyes remain narrowed and her teeth bared. The ocelot was dangerous, but only to a fault; she was less than half the size of a normal leopard, and she was only a kitten. It was fear that was eliciting this response from her.

After a few moments of watching him, however, the ocelot realises that the man's attention is not on her. His attention was on his leg, which the ocelot looks to. The trouser leg was torn and there was something shimmering trickling down underneath it. She stands and tilts her head to the side, curiosity striking her.

It doesn't last long though; the man chucks something at her and the smell hits her nose instantly as it passes her. She spins and leaps a pace or so to sniff at the object once again. Her nose was right, it was meat! The ocelot practically inhales the thrown strips of meat, and it is gone in mere chimes. It wasn't anything like the slabs that the ocelot normally ate; this wasn't tender. On the contrary, it was relatively hard and chewy. And not juicy. But it was still good, and the ocelot still ate every last morsel.

Kalina ruminates on the final piece as she turns back to the man expectantly. If he just had that delectable substance in his pocket, chances are he had more. The young Kelvic pads over, mewling, quietly at first, but the sound grows louder with each time. She sniffs at him, first at his shoes, then his trousers and injured leg, and finally she jumps up onto him, resting her front paws on his thigh as she continues to mewl and sniff at him, trying to find out where he had kept the meat, and if there was any more.

She begins to bite and nibble at loose material, any material around the man. It didn't matter what the material was, or how important it was; all that mattered to her was that it could be hiding more meat from her. And all she had to do was find it. She growls lightly.
Where is it? The ocelot was adamant that there was more. So good! Too good... More. This man was, without a doubt, the whimsical Kelvic's new best friend.

To his relief, the meat seemed to satisfy the cat, distracting it from its previous irritation at his presence. Even more unexpectedly, it was even starting to behave rather friendly towards him, a remarkable change in attitude from the animal. Whomever owned this cat had certainly trained it well, though he guessed he should have expected that by the fact that the cat had been allowed so freely in the city in the first place.

The creature even went as far to put it's feet upon him, meowing and looking at him expectantly for some reason, probably more food if he had to guess.

Digging through his pack for more, he grabbed a couple of large chunks of the dried beef before crouching down and dropping them beside the ocelot. It was really a beautifully colored animal he noticed, and really appeared quite playful when it wasn't trying to claw the skin off his flesh.

As it finished, he brought the last shreds of meat, but instead of tossing it on the ground, he held out his hand to see if the animal would eat from it. Depending on whether or not the ocelot went for his offering, he would even dare to try and pet it.

The ocelot kitten was in her element. It didn't matter that this man, a virtual stranger, could be dangerous to her. The thought, or any like it, didn't even cross the naïve, innocent Kelvic's mind. All that mattered to her was the materialism of what he could offer her, and he was offering her a substantial amount of meat. And there were few things in life that were better than food.

Each piece thrown to the ground doesn't remain there for long, the ocelot making quick work of the tough beef, her sharp teeth having little difficulty in tearing it apart. The speed at which she was eating had nothing to do with experience, though. The Kelvic had never once struggled for food, or had to fight off another to eat. In her cage at the Institute, she knew she wouldn't be disturbed, and now her owner made sure she was well fed. No, her speed had nothing to do with territory; it only reflected on the speed with which the Kelvic did everything else. All too soon, however, there was none left, and the young Kelvic's gaze shoots back up to the man expectantly, deciding that he must have an endless supply of the delicious substance. And there he was, crouched down and offering her more.

She bounds over the few paces away that she was from the man and, without skipping a beat, snatches the strip of meat from his hand. That, too, was gone within a chime or two and she turns back to the man, hopes for more still high. A whine escapes her when she realises there was nothing else in his hand, but she cranes her neck anyway, and begins to lick his hand free of all residue flavour from the beef.

Maybe there was something in this... cooking meat business humans seemed to feel compelled to do. Kalina had no problem eating the thing raw, but this beef, in particular, tasted very nice cooked. The ocelot doubted if it was as good as the unprepared slabs she was used to, but she wouldn't turn her nose up at it just because it wasn't her favourite.

Her tail flicks and she mewls loudly. By no stretch of the imagination was the young Kelvic hungry, especially after eating all that beef, but she could have continued for a while longer, if there was more available.

He couldn't help but but to notice that it felt a bit odd when the cat licked his finger tips. Especially when it had been his intention to pet the creature. Stranger still was the fact that it was still meowing for food, and knowing he didn't have anymore, he was more than a bit confused on what he should do now. If he tried to leave would the beast resume it's pursuit of his calves? What if he stayed and the creature decided to attack him still when it discovered he had no more treats to offer it? Oh, what a mess he'd managed to get himself into.

"I don't understand what your saying.. how can you still be hungry?" Adrian asked plainly of the cat, for lack of a better idea. He was already feeding the beast, and socializing with it. What could it hurt to try and speak to it, though he knew that it wouldn't understand a word he was saying. It would by him enough time till this one's owner showed up, and that was good enough reason for him.

Still he felt a bit silly, crouching there next to a wildly marked cat, trying to speak to it as if it where another person. Perhaps this city was making him strange.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on July 26th, 2013, 6:15 pm

The oversized feline continues to rub her body against the man, anywhere she could find, whether it be his arm, hand, leg. It didn't matter to her, as long as she was making contact somehow, she was happy. The loud purring was a dead giveaway to her mood, for the less perceptive of people. Never one to hide what she was feeling, the perpetually happy little Kelvic mewls another time.

The food, however good it was, was soon gone from her mind once more, just like anything else that had preoccupied her previously. With an uncommonly short attention span, in comparison to her feline kin, the three season old ocelot had long forgotten about the way in which she had met this nice gentleman.

The rubbing continues as the man speaks, though she listens, catching the meaning of the occasional word. Even in human form, her grasp of language was still primitive and immature at best, having had little chance to practice in the Kelvic Research Institute. Not that this had bothered her; even now, with her owner, Kalina had little motivation to learn the common tongue, or any other. But the Kelvic's curiosity craved information constantly, and she was often ill equipped to ask the questions she needed to or, indeed, understand the answers she received, so her desire to understand was slowly growing, and she tried her hardest to listen without being distracted.

The man's words surprised her, however. How could she still be hungry?
Easy. She was a growing girl! Her boundless energy must come from somewhere. But it wasn't even that she was hungry; she was not starved by Marcus, by any stretch of the imagination. The food was just tasty. All food is tasty to her. Except apples... Don't like apples...

Suddenly feeling the need to deal with an itch that had been building up. The small creature promptly sits and twists, craning her neck in order to scratch behind her ear and along a section of her slowly healing neck. The fervent movement of her back leg doesn't last long, however; as she loses her balance and, a whine of surprise escaping her, she tumbles over. Thankfully, she rolls away from the edge of the walkway and, hence, the canal.

Pushing herself up with her up a little with her front legs, Kalina decides to remain lying on the ground as her moss green eyes stare, unblinkingly, and possibly even unnervingly, up at the man. Her tail flicks, almost wags, as she lies there expectantly. She knew he was carrying something else, material of some form, and her logic takes her to the conclusion that it was clearly for her: why else would he be carrying it?

The cat was was entertaining certainly, Adrian decided, but with the novelty of the moment fast wearing off he remembered his place and more importantly his reason for being here. In the back of his mind, he decided to start searching for the garments he dropped with his hands while his eyes stubbornly stayed on observing the feline. It truly was a prized beast for it's master, of that Adrian was sure, its colorings alone setting it apart from all other animals he'd come across in his brief stay in Ravok. The notion reminded him vaguely of Syliras, where he knew no such pets within its stony corridors.

By that measure, Ravok was a improvement to where he had been, though he'd scarcely admit that to anyone. He was still yet a slave here, beholden to the bidding of his masters, but that was the way of things and he was beginning to accept that fact. Which reminded him, those garments better have not gotten messed up in the fuss over this cat!

For the first time since he'd encountered this feline, he looked away for a moment, turning to look around for them before noticing that they where not far behind him, within arms length even. It was not so much a stretch to gather them up, and still yet wary of the feline, he simply reached behind him quickly and snatched them up before anyone could step on them more, before turning back towards the creature, garments in hand. He ignored them for now, knowing that he'd only fret over every little wrinkle or worse he found on the garments, and instead focused all of his attention once more on the cat, whom was staring at him rather intently.

It was more than a little bit perturbing, and shifting awkwardly where he crouched, he half way reached out his free hand to pet it, but stopped when the unsettling thought came that it might try to strike at him when he reached for it. So he stayed in that uncomfortable position, halfway reaching out towards the cat, wondering, always wondering what this one might do.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Moss green eyes dart away from the man to follow the movements of the materials he had picked up. The ocelot's still form might have unnerved the man as she stares, unblinking, at the movement. The blanket was moving, moving away from her! Kalina wasn't having any of that. Why were they moving? They weren't supposed to be moving... she continues to stare.

Slowly, very slowly, she rises from her position on the floor to one only a few inches higher, so that she was now crouching. A light growl reverberates from her back of her throat; instinct for the feline. Normally an outstretched had would be an immediate invitation for her to head forward and make the most of the offering, but right now, Kalina was finding the material much more exciting than the hand. After a few moments of watching and calculating, the ocelot kitten pounces.

In mere seconds, she has the material in her jaws, teeth clamping down tightly on it. Jubilant in her success, she tugs firmly on the material, trying to drag it away from the man's grasp. Despite her young age and small stature, Kalina's strength matched that of larger felines, and she was successful in her tug. She doesn't take all of them, however, only one of the garments. The grey one: they were all grey in her eyes. Now that she had her prey, though, there was little about her that seemed predatory; she was, once again, acting her age. The kitten bounds off, tripping over the length of material as she does so, but she is quickly up again, and off on the move.

Less than a chime later, she stops running and shakes it around him her jaw, just to make sure that it was dead. Next, she is glancing behind to see what the man was doing. This game was only going to be fun if he was going to play it too. The material drops from her mouth and she steps over it, spreading her legs as if to protect it, should someone try to grab it from her. She mewls, making sure that she has the man's attention, and her tail flicks lightly.

Glancing down, she buries her nose in the garment, sniffing and licking it. It smelled of the man; and of other people who she couldn't quite identify, but if didn't smell of any other animal. And it was definitely dead now, not even the wind was moving it. Of that, Kalina was very proud, her first kill of this strange creature! Suffice to say, the kitten was thrilled with herself and she looks back up to find the man; they could still play with it now.
