45 Summer 513

Just another day in Nyka, Bones thought to himself.

It had not been that long since he had become a teacher under Ximal, and the experience was still odd to him. His power over students, the fact that he could accept new ones, or deny them. He held such sway over people and there lives.

Even if they were only humans, puny, weak, fleeting, little better than rats breeding across the face of Mizahar...

He let out a sigh, sitting in the training room, his eyes closed, trying to calm himself, ready for the new day, or if anyone wanted a spar, or a lesson, or to gain entry. Here he would be sitting, near the weapons rack, on the ground of the training room, ready to face challengers.

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

Postby Ohirin on July 3rd, 2013, 3:13 am

Ohirin had recently ridden up to the front of The Iron Fist school, a place he had heard little more of than it being a school for many different forms of combat. Combat being one of Ohirin's interests, he decided to head to the school to see if there was anyone around the school. He had his sword with him that day, being the only weapon based combat that he had any history with. It was put loosely in his belt and it was hanging at his side. Ohirin didn't take his time opening the door into a large corridor, and quickly regretted it and let out a short curse in Pavi, hoping that he didn't disturb anyone to badly. He continued walking not seeing anyone at the time and moved to a door not far from the door he entered through. This time he pushed the door open much more carefully into what appeared to be a training room, empty save for many weapons racks and a single man sitting in the room near one of the many weapons racks. Ohirin extended a quick greeting to the man in the room, not knowing the mans rank or anything else about him save that he was fairly tall and stocky.

Bones was left uninterrupted, at least for awhile. But it was inevitable that someone would come in, someone would want him. That he would not be left to calm himself, and enjoy the solitude of the day.

He did not enjoy knowing it would more likely than not be spent with a human, whoever walked into see him. There seemed little else inhabiting Nyka. But at least he would get to fight, to possibly show his strength, and mettle, in combat.

"Come in." Bones said rather simply, as he heard someone enter the room, and greet him. He had noticed the sound of feet on the ground, before he had heard his voice. He was, by the sound of it, a big and heavy fellow. Bones got up and opened his eyes, to see his ears had not fooled him. The man outweighed himself, and even had a few inches on him.

But that meant little, even in terms of strength. And Bones was surprisingly strong for the compact build he had.

"What isss it you have come here looking for? Teaching? Are you a ssstudent? Or admittansse, and wanting to be a ssstudent? Eisser way, what isss it you fight in? Fissst? Blade? Anyssing elssse? What isss your bessst and worssst ssing you fight in?"

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

When the man got up Ohirin was able to see that while being a tall man the man he stood across from was still a bit shorter than Ohirin himself. It was also clear right away that the man must have some sort of position in the school, he must have been some sort of teacher or something along those lines. The man looked a bit odd to Ohirin, he didn't look to be very strong and yet he carried himself as a person who was. The man spoke, he pronounced certain words in a weird way but Ohirin ignored that and just answered the mans questions.

"I heard that this was a school of combat, I came to see what it was like." Ohirin said in response to the man. "I didn't have any plans when I came here. But in the way of combat I enjoy wrestling and am ok at it, I also fight with a long-sword." Ohirin said in response to his last few questions lifting his sword from his belt and holding it in front of himself instead, in a non-aggressive way.

"You heard right..." Bones said, in response to the man saying this was a school of combat. Bones after all would not be a very good teacher for any other kind of school.

"And you can ssset ssat assside, we will not be fighting wiss real bladesss. Wooden onesss will do jussst fine for training. Go get yoursss."

Saying that, Bones would point over to a weapons rack, and head over and pull out a wooden facsimile of a gladius, the weapon he used. He would give the man a chime or so to pick out his own weapons wooden likeness, before moving back to the center of the room.

"I go by Bonesss. And you are? Are you ready to fight? Ssshow me what you can do. Impressss me."

With that, Bones would stand before the man, gladius held across him lazily, as he glared across the room at him. Looking him in the eyes. Waiting for him to make a move, and to attack Bones. Until he came at him and tried to attack, he would do nothing else, and would ignore any further questions without answering. Though he had said to impress him.

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

Postby Ohirin on July 7th, 2013, 3:38 am

Ohirin Listened to the man and took a few steps toward the center of the room, before being told to use wooden blades. It should have been a very easy thing for him to figure out as there were so many wooden weapons. The man told Ohirin to get his weapon, or the wooden equivalent, Ohirin walked to the rack that looked to have the weapons that would be the same as his own blade. After spending a short amount of time finding the blade the same weight and length as his own, not looking for any other similarities, He put his sword on the ground and walked in front of the other man. The man introduced himself as Bones. "My name is Ohirin. I'm ready to fight." He stated simply, bringing his sword around in front of him in a much less relaxed way than Bones.

Ohirin positioned himself with his left foot slightly ahead of the right and his legs fairly close together. Ohirin had both hands on the grip. He had his knees bent slightly and stood at what he believed to be outside the shorter sword's range. He knew if he got too close to his opponent that the speed of the shorter sword would win. Ohirin took a half-step forward, bringing his right foot slightly ahead of his left, and made a quick downward slash at the leg on his right. The slash was aimed to be just above the knee of his opponent, a crippling blow with a real blade and one that might down an opponent with the wooden blades. He knew that the odds of the blow landing on the first swipe were low but he thought it better than just aiming near where the blade already was.

Bones nodded at the man, Ohirin, and watched as he readied his blade. Or to the point, its wooden alternative. For safety reasons of course.

He watched as he readied his legs, his arms, his grip with two hands, preparing to come at him as he had ordered. Bones just stood there, flexing his arms for a moment to work out the kinks as he maneuvered, and then coming back to his prior position.

His foe started off with a simple enough attack, a downward slash aimed right for his leg or knee area. Instead of combating it, he took a step back and let the blow come down, however out of range of hitting him. Then he brought his own blade down on top of the other mans as he made a step forward, attempting to pin it to the ground.

If that worked, he would then lash out with his sandal-ed foot, with a kick aimed right for the mans gut. After all, he never said this bout was just with blade, though the man might have assumed so.

And mixing in a bit of simple unarmed combat was never a bad way to go. In fact, Bones almost always did so when fighting with his blade. Why let his feet and body go to waste, when it was as much of a tool? It would be like leaving weapons sitting useless on the sidelines, when he could have used them the entire time. Silly to him. Perhaps less so to humans, though he could not say for sure on that.

Although if he had time to think, he might have wondered if it was as much straightforward combat, as it was the move of a street brawler. At this point his fighting styles were so numerous, even he had trouble distinguishing them.

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

Postby Ohirin on July 17th, 2013, 9:34 pm

Ohirin's attack was easily evaded by the other man, causing the blade to hit the ground instead of his opponent. The blade hit the ground and bounced up, just to be met by his opponents blade coming down on top of it. Ohirin's blade was effectively pinned to the ground and because Ohirin didn't release his blade his body got turned slightly causing his opponent's well placed and well used kick to hit in a slightly different place than it was intended for. The kick landed just underneath the ribs on Ohirin's left side, causing Ohirin to take a half step back and gasp for a quick breath.

Ohirin was nearly helpless as long as his sword was pinned to the ground, so he made a strong upward pull on the grip of the wooden blade trying to use leverage to free his sword and unbalance his opponent. If it worked and he got his blade free his next action would be to get his legs back underneath him and attack with a horizontal strike directly at his opponent's waist height.

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

Postby Ssafirsotibones on July 23rd, 2013, 7:25 pm

For the start of the bout, Bones was successful in his maneuvers. His attempt at trapping his foes blade worked, a simple enough tact but still good when executed properly to take advantage of a foes leaving themselves open or vulnerable.

His kick was a bit off center, but still managed to clip the human in the side decently. Of course, he had not meant it as a debilitating kick, not even using full force. One with his full enhanced strength might have staved in or at the least bruised a rib. Which was far to excessive for a spar.

The man stumbled back in response to the blow, letting out a huff of air and trying to drag in a fresh one, never easy when one had just been kicked in the side. His reaction was as expected, attempting to yank out the blade from its locked position. But Bones had already decided to not press it, for it would be far to much work to hold the blade. Better to continue on with the fight.

Bones took a step jumping back, releasing his hold on the blade with his own, a somewhat feral grin crossing Bones lips as he looked at the combatant. Or perhaps not so much feral as... Off... Like someone had described a smile to someone, and they had attempted to sculpt it onto a clay face, and gotten it right for the most part... But was missing some intrinsic human quality to it that would normally set a person at ease, as a expression of happiness and enjoyment normally would.

In reality, it was because Bones had grown up amongst Dhani, and though later in life he had mimicked the expression around other humans, he had never gotten it quite right, and no one had yet to tell him it was wrong. Correct in intent, but little else, was the normal human expression.

Ohirin sent another slashing blow at Bones waist. He reacted to it by making a upward swipe with his blade, the tip just barely glancing across Ohirin's weapon and making it tremble from the collision. But his earlier back step had brought him more or less out of range of such a slash.

Then Bones went on the offensive, with a flurry of blows. He would take a step forward, and make a strong diagonal slash across Ohirin's torso on his left, following it with a second slash which formed a X if you added it to the path of the prior slash.

He would slowly press forward with a quick flurry of blows walking closer to the human as he attacked, another slash at waist height, a thrust at his head, which he combined into a a backslash at his neck coming on Ohirin's right side if it missed, followed by another diagonal slash across his chest on his left. They were still only human in strength, not his full Dhani ability, but would still press him. It would force the human to defend himself, to react quickly, and give Bones a chance to see how he reacted to such a fast paced onslaught. It would leave little time to think, instead he would need to work on instinct and reflex and what his body did automatically, as any thought out plan would likely take to long and leave him open to the following strikes.

That was how Bones fought, and how he now attacked, by instinct, not hesitating or pausing to think, just doing what felt right, what his own body said to do.

[Iron Fist School]Ready, Set, Fight![Ohirin]

Postby Ohirin on July 28th, 2013, 2:53 am

Ohirin was frustrated when his slash missed but he didn't allow it to bother him, instead he set about block the fast and furious flurry of attacks his opponent sent after him. He blocked the first and second blows that his opponent made with his sword, not having to move much because of the similar placement of the two blows. The whole time that he was defending he was backing up as his opponent advanced. The third strike, at waist height was not a surprise to Ohirin. Get your opponent blocking high and attack low, but the size of Ohirin's blade made it hard to control in the close range his opponent made by contently moving forward and Ohirin was hit by the strike in the upper right leg causing him a slight limp as the muscle tensed up. The next thrust at Ohirin's head missed but only slightly; Ohirin had been able to move his head just to the side of the blow, partially because Ohirin was already leaning from the blow to his leg. In a n attempt to block the slash at his neck Ohirin quickly brought his sword upwards toward his opponents wrist, however the slash at his neck hit just above its target hitting Ohirin just below the ear and parallel to the jaw. Luckily the blow did not break Ohirin's jaw but it did knock him unconscious.

Ohirin collapsed on the floor in a heap, the sword falling from his hands and his head hitting the ground with a soft thud. He was unconscious for only around 15 seconds but it was long enough to make it clear that he was unconscious and had lost the fight.
