For the start of the bout, Bones was successful in his maneuvers. His attempt at trapping his foes blade worked, a simple enough tact but still good when executed properly to take advantage of a foes leaving themselves open or vulnerable.
His kick was a bit off center, but still managed to clip the human in the side decently. Of course, he had not meant it as a debilitating kick, not even using full force. One with his full enhanced strength might have staved in or at the least bruised a rib. Which was far to excessive for a spar.
The man stumbled back in response to the blow, letting out a huff of air and trying to drag in a fresh one, never easy when one had just been kicked in the side. His reaction was as expected, attempting to yank out the blade from its locked position. But Bones had already decided to not press it, for it would be far to much work to hold the blade. Better to continue on with the fight.
Bones took a step jumping back, releasing his hold on the blade with his own, a somewhat feral grin crossing Bones lips as he looked at the combatant. Or perhaps not so much feral as... Off... Like someone had described a smile to someone, and they had attempted to sculpt it onto a clay face, and gotten it right for the most part... But was missing some intrinsic human quality to it that would normally set a person at ease, as a expression of happiness and enjoyment normally would.
In reality, it was because Bones had grown up amongst Dhani, and though later in life he had mimicked the expression around other humans, he had never gotten it quite right, and no one had yet to tell him it was wrong. Correct in intent, but little else, was the normal human expression.
Ohirin sent another slashing blow at Bones waist. He reacted to it by making a upward swipe with his blade, the tip just barely glancing across Ohirin's weapon and making it tremble from the collision. But his earlier back step had brought him more or less out of range of such a slash.
Then Bones went on the offensive, with a flurry of blows. He would take a step forward, and make a strong diagonal slash across Ohirin's torso on his left, following it with a second slash which formed a X if you added it to the path of the prior slash.
He would slowly press forward with a quick flurry of blows walking closer to the human as he attacked, another slash at waist height, a thrust at his head, which he combined into a a backslash at his neck coming on Ohirin's right side if it missed, followed by another diagonal slash across his chest on his left. They were still only human in strength, not his full Dhani ability, but would still press him. It would force the human to defend himself, to react quickly, and give Bones a chance to see how he reacted to such a fast paced onslaught. It would leave little time to think, instead he would need to work on instinct and reflex and what his body did automatically, as any thought out plan would likely take to long and leave him open to the following strikes.
That was how Bones fought, and how he now attacked, by instinct, not hesitating or pausing to think, just doing what felt right, what his own body said to do. |
