After about fifteen chimes, she found it. A ruined entrance to a hallway was built into the wall just behind the large statue. By the concealed look, it really looked like a secret entrance... which means it was also an exit. It was dark inside, far darker than the temple's hall as no light penetrated it. No matter, Aka opened her right palm and flowed her res gas, creating a small res-ball before igniting the outer layer. She then lightly tossed it to the side and the fireball floated beside her left shoulder, acting as a floating torch. With a grin, the Viper ran forward to the hallway with her fiery familiar floating close to her.
The hallway was decorated with dilapidated wall with murals she didn't care about. What mattered was that it's clear, the Viper kept running forward and forward. She still couldn't see the end of the long tunnel. It might lead to a dead end or a horrible trap that would spell her doom instead of an exit, but trusting her instinct, she plowed on.
Rekindling her fireball with some res, the vaulting over an obstacle, Aka thought that this would be a simple trip, but then she heard... a rumble from behind her. "H-huh?" Against her better judgement, the Viper skidded to a stop and looked behind her. Her torch didn't provide much visibility for a distant location, however... the rumble was getting louder and louder. Small pebbles and dusts began falling from the ceiling above her and she could feel the ground lightly shook beneath her. Much like what happened before, there was only one thing to deduct from this, the temple's coming down!
"Oh no... ssshyke! ssshyke ssshyke ssshyke ssshyke ssshyke!!" She must get out of here. Good thing she didn't decide to prowl any longer back there for she definitely wouldn't have enough time to escape if she did. Putting all other thoughts aside, Aka completely focused on running through the hallway once more. The possibility of a dead end? Petch that! She would take her chances, she got no choices anyway. Her lithe feet trudging on the shaking ground.
"Aaaaaaaargh!" She dodged to the side as a chunk of the ceiling fell from on top of her, her limited vision was filled with falling pebbles and dusts as everything shook around her. Suddenly, a light, her eyes saw a small flicker of light at her front. The exit! It must be! "Yeeeessss!" Pumping her right fist upwards, Aka continued her escape, using the light as a beacon. "Come on! Ha.. Come on!" She gritted her teeth, forcing her legs to move faster. The rumbling and shaking gaining intensity with each second, fueling the Viper's adrenaline.
Vaulting over another debris with her loyal fiery res-familiar still following, Aka kept running towards the light as it filled her vision. With a scream, she leaped forward, entering the light.
*RUMBLE!!*
Behind her, the hallway collapsed completely, rocks and stone covering the entrance.
"Ha... ha..." As her eyes adjusted to the difference in light, Aka extinguished the small fireball, turning into a puff of harmless air. She was laying prone on the ground, her heart beating fast and sweat trickled down her skin. "Kuuh..." Wincing in pain, she stood up and examined her surroundings. She was in another part of the jungle and behind her was the other side of the rocky wall. It didn't hold any man-made structures like the previous side, the only artificial object she could find was the ruined entrance, now unusable. Well, she didn't want to go back there anyway, good thing the cursed place was done for.
"God Ivak, I thank you for keeping me sssafe today..." She gave him a short prayer, she felt he was always been watching her, even before he marked her. Maybe that was why Aka could pull through whatever shyke life threw at her and kept moving on. What didn't kill her, made her stronger. Tired and home-sick, her feet began moving, using her homing instinct to guide her back to the general direction of Zinrah. Rubbing the collar again, her mind wandered.
What is this for anyway?
OOCI'll leave it to the grader's discretion on what the effect of the Maledicted Collar would be.
