Business Type: Goods and Services

All products are of good or fine quality. The tapestries, blankets, throws, and pillows are all very colorful (the majority with a lot of indigo threads) while the rugs are either white, tan, or indigo with other colors available as commissions. There is a selection of imported tapestries and rugs from buying and bartering with merchants that stay right near the shop at the Traveler's Inn. There are repair services offered, commissions, and periodic interior design services.

Shopkeeping and Weaving Slave:

Name: Kizou
Race: Human
DoB: 476 AV
PoB: Kenash
Title: Weaver Slave, works at Tangled Tapestries and Woven Wonders
Skills: Weaving: 45 xp; Spinning: 5 xp
Gnosis: N/A
Additional Info: Born a slave on the Radacke plantation, Kizou was always very skinny and unhealthy growing up. He got moved around from the fields to the house and back again, but he didn't seem to work well anywhere. Thus, he was rather forgotten about for awhile and he spent a great deal of his time in the weaving room with his mother, learning to make rugs and tapestries. As a result, he is quiet, a little near-sighted, and pays great attention to detail. It is rumored that his father was one of the Dynasty men, but it has never been confirmed.

One day, Jahk Radacke came across him and wondering how he had missed the man, took Kizou to the Breaking Grounds where he was beaten nearly to death. Once he recovered from the ordeal, he was sent to the indigo fields where Bice Radacke whipped him endlessly for his slow movements. Finally, it was deemed that he was not really valuable as anything but a weaver, so he was sent to Fiora. The wife of Bice made him her full-time slave at the Tangled Tapestries and Woven Wonders where we works on the tapestries every day when not attending customers. Many who visit the shop are impressed with his work but can sometimes get weary of his morose demeanor.

Looking very nice so far. Before I can give approval, I have a few items of note that actually relate to your own questions at the end of your posted plan. You chose weaver for the skill your business is based on which is appropriate if you are looking to weave the various items yourself and/or with the aid of your slave. The potential problem is that with a competent skill in weaving, you are probably not going to be able to craft the "Fine" quality items yourself. With a higher end L2 Weaving and of course with an L3, you could craft such quality items. Otherwise you will probably only be able to achieve "Good" quality at this point.

With the imported items, that is all fine as the cost of acquiring such items is already built into the whole business system. However, if you are basing your business off of your own Weaving skill, which it appears that you are, you want to keep a strong focus on the goods that you, yourself create and offer over those you import. Perhaps, at least in your shop location, you could somehow provide emphasis on your own crafted items, going so far as to offer special, unique, one-of-a-kind items that you crafted in-thread; seasonal specials if you will.

Tangled Tapestries and Woven Wonders

Thanks for looking over my tapestry shop BP. I wanted the shop to be a mix of what Fiora makes, what her slaves make at her plantation (they take the cotton crop, spin it into thread and then weave rugs and tapestries) and her one slave that will be at the shop full time (with a weaving skill of 30) as well as what she buys and trades with traveling merchants. Her shop's location was chosen deliberately because it's next to the Traveler's Inn so she does bring in a lot of imported goods.

The specials that you suggested would be the commissions. Anyone can commission anything they like and these would be made by Fiora herself or the slaves, depending on size and complexity....does that make sense?

So, the business is not just based off of Fiora's skills, but her slave's skills, and the traveling merchants trades and purchases...I didn't really want one over the other; I wanted an equal mix of imports and locally made products.

As a starting character, Fiora herself cannot go much higher in Weaving than she already has, but she will gain experience quickly as I play her. Thus, I'd like to keep the Fine tapestries, there just won't be that many in stock until her skill goes up and those that are will have been woven by slaves.

My apologies, I initially gave an approval with the only stipulation being the separate approval of the NPC through Help Desk. However, it just dawned on me that the skill level of the NPC as it is written is too high. A Slave NPC can't have more than 30 points in any one skill so your NPC would not get approved. That said, with your PC and NPC both having Competent levels of Weaving, I could see that by working together they may be able to come up with Fine Quality items. So, that said, I will grant approval for the business but you will have to change the skills of the NPC.
