Here you can register as a citizen of Ravok.

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forum. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

OOCHello then!

Tawny took the coins and pocketed them in a moment. "Thank you" he replied with a small smile, and finished scribbling down on the sheet he had. Glancing up, he set down his quill and pushed it a little forward so it was closer to Piraen.

"Now, the last step. Swear loyalty to Rhysol, and promise to follow all laws of the Black Sun. Use whatever wording you choose." He grinned wryly at this step, letting go of the sheet and leaning back to listen. He heard all kinds of versions of these, each more interesting than the last. Some were boring and mundane, but sometimes people had a little creativity to their vows.

A pledge. Really? Piraen sighed lightly. This came as no surprise to him, of course. However, he didn't really buy into the whole thing. Yes, he could see the point behind forcing people to make pledges, but it still seemed like a silly notion. It felt as though he was being put through an initiation into a child's play club; the whole idea seemed tacky. Not to mention the slight problems that arose. You had to take people at their word, which always made Pi a little wary. You also had to deal with people who don't take things as seriously as they should, and you had to trust their word as well. Nevertheless, Pi would play along. After all, what he was saying was the truth, or at least part of it, which meant the man was at no fault. His eyes roved, as if the various objects around the room would provide inspiration. He didn't want to sound like a fool, so Piraen took his time.

"Well," He finally decided on a verbal path. "I don't know much about Rhysol, or deities at all, truthfully. I'd best judge, however, that I know a little bit about how the world works. From what I've seen, people live in chaos and evil, with no exceptions. People'll eat your eyes out if you let them. And so I know that there are losers and survivors. Either you fight the madness and lose, or you embrace it and survive." Piraen shrugged. "So, yes, I swear to follow Rhysol in whatever he might have planned for me. Or, rather, what he doesn't have planned for me, if we're staying true to chaos. And I promise to obey the Black Sun as well, being that they're an extension of Rhysol."

Tawny's eyebrows raised at Piraen's words. Still, it was technically a vow... so he couldn't complain. "Good..." he muttered, signing off on the sheet. He passed it lightly to Piraen, with a light warning to take care of it.

"You have two seasons of probation, where you can't leave Ravok. Don't get into any trouble, either. After that, you're a full citizen."

1st of Winter 513 A.V.

Vien stared outside the Citizen Registration building for the longest pondering as to whether or not he should actually enter. After a long time of debating with himself he finally entered the building hoping for the best but expected the worst as he politely walked forward and plucked a copy of the application. He had it filled out in no time but instead of immediately turning it in he reviewed the information a bit just to make sure everything was in order.

A slightly odd looking man who walked in caught Jill's attention. She watched as he filled out the form, curious to see what information it held. Finally, after reading it, she understood. "A Sym..." she muttered to herself, frowning. "Sir?" she asked, calling Vien's attention.

"So, let me explain a tradition of Ravok. Now... non-humans are considered trouble. In order to help the city, financially, for any trouble they might cause, on registration they must put a deposit of 200 gold mizas. However... reading this..." She waved the sheet around. "You don't have that much. I couuuuld... just change it to human, though. But... for a price." She looked up and winked at Vien. The more money in her pocket the better.

"How about..." She frowned, wondering how much gold she could cheat this Symenestra for. "Fifty gold?" she asked, cocking her head a little.

Timestamp : Day 10 of Spring 514 AV

The tenth day of this spring the actress Amolina Moletta registered her newborn daughter Pearl Moletta as a citizen of Ravok. She was followed to the citizen registration office by the good woman Birine Telemnar, a trustworthy middle aged Ravokian widow of good reputation.

Miss Moletta seemed to be very tired, and her hairstyle wasn't as elegant and artful as it had used to be, nor was her makeup. But she was well dressed in an azure blue silk dress.

The unmarried mother filled in the application form, with her own name as the only parent to the girl, which she vaguely explained by “not being able to recall”.

After this, she handed in the form and waited.

The man at the desk, Tawny, took the sheet with an absent expression. This was the kind of application that came in most days... a Ravokian having a child, and applying for their child's citizenship. Simply as that. The lack of a father wasn't that unusual as well, but did cause a smirk on the odd man's face.

It took him about a chime to fully write out Pearl's papers, but he eventually passed them over with an (attempted) pleasant smile. It didn't quite work. "Goodbye, miss" he said politely.

OOCYou can now add Pearl's citizenship papers to your possessions!

Spring 21st, 514AV
Morning

It had been quite a few days since he first arrived in Ravok. And with each passing day, his view about this place was changing. He'd heard stories of atrocities, of deep evil and corruption, of backstabbers and hateful sycophants who hated all outsiders. Most of those were true, and already he'd seen them all. Yet no one ever mentioned the dark beauty of this city. The beauty of indulgence, the pleasures and vices aplenty. Sure, corruption was apparent, but at least they did not try to hide it under a veil of righteousness. Why wouldn't they hate outsiders, when the outside world was so judgmental ? Perhaps they truly coveted the unity that these people seemed to have. And the protection of a deity that required what all other deities required; belief and dedication. He had started to feel like he could live here. There were opportunities for him, and he could be himself. There were benefits to becoming a citizen and he would be a fool to ignore them.

The room was cold and the atmosphere was heavy. The Paladin's watchful eyes seemed to pierce his very being as he picked up the application papers and started filling them up. He'd be a fool to lie, they'd see right through him. He had no reason to, anyway and as soon as he was finished, he reviewed the information and waited for his turn to come.
Citizenship Application

The door finally opened and so he stepped in the small office, the true Ruler's stare was cold and stern.

The Art will twist you and turn you.
It will break you and tear you asunder; from your scattered remains it will shape you.
It will engulf you and spit you out.
It will fester in your mind, disfigure your body and blacken your soul.
And so on and so forth, through an endless chain of transformations till the time comes and you are everything...
Then you'll truly be nothing...

OOCI'm so sorry for not replying here earlier >.>

Tawny took the sheet, frowned at it, and wordlessly began to scribble out Daegron's probationary citizenship. After several moments, he commented, almost conversationally, "So what can ya morph?" He glanced up, pausing in his writing, to raise an eyebrow at the man.

Once the question was answered, he would finish up his work, but... not pass the sheet to Daegron. "Before I give this to you... y'gotta swear your loyalty to Rhysol, and the Black Sun. However you like." This was harder and less casual, and he stared at Daegron with a serious expression. This was the most important part, not just the actual sheet of paper.

The officer's expression was serious but did not register to Daegron's senses. It was Rhysol himself, the absolute power that seemed to emanate from that picture on the opposite wall that dominated the cold room. Never before had he felt the awe of divinity so close, so real.

"I can change my shape, my flesh and my bones and turn myself into an organ of his will..." he said coldly. Not very far from the truth, as by now he was certain that this God's influence was everywhere. He raised his eyes to look at the picture of his new ruler. He never pledged himself to anything before, but he had a few small phrases prepared for the case. He could almost feel Rhysol's icy hand gripping his own black heart as he spoke.

"My loyalty I pledge to the one true God, Rhysol. In his glory I bow, before his absolute might I stand true, in his name I act. May his discord wash upon my very soul and grant me strength and protection. May his hand smite me and banish me to an existence of torment should I fail his will.... "

He bowed his head slightly and eagerly awaited..
