Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Clover laughed,"Yes, I guess amazing is a bit of a stretch is it?"
"Congratulations! When is the baby due?" "That is true, we do have a lot in common don't we?" Clover smiled,"One day in the future, if I plan to have a child, I will introduce you as Auntie Lynnie." She smiled.
Clover walked towards the area Lynnie was suggesting. She noticed a small patch of her favorite herbs, Claytonia Perfoliata, or Miner's Cabbage. It was not only healthy for you, but every part of it was edible. The roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. Clover carefully took the plants out of the ground. She picked up some other edible herbs, making sure she didn't pick up any poisonous. When she had enough, she nodded her head at the plants she carried in her arms. She was satisfied with her findings. |

Lyn'nice laughed, "Well, not until next winter I'm afraid. I'm just starting to feel slightly off and I'm slightly..late." She gave Clover a look as if to silently say what she was late with. "I've been craving seafood a lot lately. But this all just started so I can't tell if it's a Konti or Akalak, yet. If I'm eating everything in sight by spring, it has Akalak blood. That and I'll be exhausted all the time. But my Talvas is sweet enough." She smiled "Treats me like a princess, but then again I am carrying his status increasing child. Plus it pays well being a Nakivak, for a successful Akalak birth around 1000gm. If I remember correct"
Bending down she looked over the herbs, "So what does this stuff do?" Lyn'nice asked picking some of the herbs as well. It was a calming thing to do, sit and pick herbs with a friend who liked and understood the things she liked. She had been waiting without even knowing it for years to find a friend who understood. Lyn'nice felt the leaves of the plant which had a pleasant texture to them. "They feel nice...and you can almost feel that they were happy growing here." Lyn'nice smiled to herself. |

Clover looked down at the herbs she collected,"Well, I'm pretty sure you know this already. Wild edible plants have an important source of concentrated vitamins. My favorite being the Claytonia Perfoliata, or Miner's Lettuce. Whatever sounds easier to you." She smiled at the herbs,"I'll make some into herbal honey, some into herbal tea, and the rest into herbal oil." Clover looked up at Lyn'nice again,"You have to try some of my herbal tea. In my opinion it's very good, but I'm curious of how you'd like my tea."
Clover's arms full of different herbs she looked around to see if there were anymore she could use. After she was done searching she was prepared to leave. "Lynnie, are you ready to head back to the town? I'm all set." |

With a smile she nodded,"I'd love to try some! It will give me a chance to polish my tea leaf reading. I know a few other tricks with plants, things like predicting which times of the year will have an abundance of water or no water at all. But that requires the last day of the year and an onion." Useless trivia most of the Konti back in Mura would say.
Lyn'nice looked at the herbs in her arms, carefully inspecting each one, "I wonder who comes up with the names of the herbs...I mean honestly have you ever heard of miners just eating lettuce? Doesn't seem legit." She said while continuing her investigation of the herbs.
"You know, these have good enough roots that if I soaked them in water for a bit I could probably replant these guys in some pots. Try and domesticate some of it. I'll have to buy some pots first, so I'll just give the roots a soak until then get them growing good." Lyn'nice gave herself a proud smile. |

Clover laughed and then shrugged,"I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure they just combine a bunch of words together to create a new word. Maybe it's a group of people who create the names for herbs. Maybe the miners really did eat the lettuce. I guess we'll never know."
"Wow I didn't know you could do that. That's very interesting. I should study gardening like you do, I could learn a lot. It would also help my studies in herbalism, then I could also create more medicines. Anyway, back to the topic, you could have some of my herbs and replant them." Clover said offering some of her herbs,"I don't need every single one. I can make plenty of medicines without them all."

Lyn'nice smiled, "Sure, if you have any herbs with good roots I can try and replant some of them for you. You'd be more than welcomed to harvest some as you need them." Lyn'nice paused, "You know, instead of taking a sum of money, the Nakivak program offers land for business or business training for a good Akalak birth... Perhaps when I take my second contract, it will be at least two years or so. But maybe I could take my pay in the form of a business area. If we work together and work hard learning each other's crafts we could open a herb shop."
Lyn'nice took the extra herbs from Clover taking note of the roots of each herb "And this one is called?" she inquired about a few of the other herbs. "I'll make sure to label the pots to keep track of what's what's. Before we head home, let's stop by the market to check out what sort of gardening supplies they have. That is if you don't mind. Otherwise I can go tomorrow." She didn't want to bother Clover if she was finished for the day. Lyn'nice was just buzzing like she always did. |

29th Day of Winter
Clover looked through the herbs she collected and picked out the herbs with the best roots. She handed her the herbs. Clover smiled and then replied to Lynnie's comment,"That's right, we could learn from each other and eventually be able to open our own shop together." Clover inspected the herb Lynnie asked about and then answered,"Cymbopogon citarus, or lemon grass, whatever works for you. They have little roots at the bottom of the stems, but there would've been more roots if I didn't tug so hard on these when I pulled them out of the ground. But they'll work." Clover shook her head,"It's fine, we can head to the market now. I'm never busy most of the time, unless of course I'm creating medicines. And it would be nice to visit the market, I've only been able to visit the market probably every two weeks."

Lyn'nice gave a slight nervous laugh,"Lemon grass will work just fine, I don't believe I could pronounce it's other name. I'll let you handle the names and details. I'll just grow them. That's what I'm best at." Giving Clover a smile and looking over the herbs she spoke," Let's go. We've go some shopping to do." Lyn'nice turned away from the herb patch and the Konti made their way back.
The walk back to the city was nice with simple conversation over favorite colors, favored foods (in which Lyn'nice declared squid was the supreme food), and of course flowers and herbs. "So what all can you make as far as medicine? What about teas? Ever consider herbal soap and cosmetics? I bet the bathhouse would buy a considerable amount."
"Oh looks like we're here. Funny it felt like a much shorter walk back than when we left. Anyway, let's see what we can find. I love to browse everything," Lyn'nice admitted. "But I am looking for a few things to buy today. So, where do you want to start?" |

29th Day of Winter
Clover nodded and the Konti pair began walking back to the market. Clover enjoyed getting to know each other. They discussed favorite colors (Clover's being aqua and blue-green), favorite foods (Clover couldn't decide on a favorite food), and gardening and herbalism obviously. "Well, so far I can make herbal teas, honeys, and oils, even just eating the herbs by themselves work fine. But I've never made soap before. I'll work on soap and cosmetics though, I didn't think about that." Clover turned her head to look around the market. "I'm not sure. What do you have on your shopping list?"

"I want to look at the pots and starter plants. But I know there are some other good vendors are here today. So I might check them out too. Maybe pick up some squid. Who knows? Plus it's a good way too see what other people are making and the quality of their product. Ooooh! We should look at the starter kits! They may have some interesting ones in stock!" Lyn'nice rambled on.
"Oops sorry! Rambled there. So let's get started...over...here!" She headed to the first stall selling jewelry. A few selling pottery which Lyn'nice looked over thoroughly picking out a few. When they got to plants Lyn looked over but didn't find anything. She paid the vendor for the pots. "So anything catch your fancy?" Lyn'nice asked.
