50th Spring 508AV
Dead of Night
Two Days Away From Pyconia

RecapPart I: Spoons finds himself in the Unforgiving having drank all his water the night before, stupid mistake. He manages to locate and secure a way to gather water for a day.

Part II: Spoons starts his trek home. Determined to find a container he can store water in and then turn around and boil it for safe consumption. Finds a snail, kills it for the shell, and precedes to have mayhem ensue after that. That night he is awakened by a creature in the night...

Spoons found himself between the paw of a hungry beast and a back wall... There was maybe an inch of open space between swiping claws and the fire pit that was right before Spoons. The clay woodsman had found away to reconfigure his form to create a makeshift breathing appartus and bellow type thing However, with each intake of air in the secondary tunnel it would just whistle right through his body. There was no stoppage.

A valve was needed and Spoons had a good idea of what to do, pushing a thin layer of clay down between his body and the start of the cone Spoons didn’t connect it completely as he paused in it’s formation and took a breathe, the flap stopped the airflow and he knew a hard enough push from the trapped air would cause the flap to give way. It would hurt a lot he knew, but Spoons wasn’t going to die inside this cave he found the day before. All Spoons had to do now was wait for the creature’s eye to replace the batting paw.

It was almost like clock work, the paw slid out after a few ticks of aimless flailing with zero success and the eye of the scavenger was framed by the opening once again. It was go time. Spoons inhaled once more, then compressed the air filled bubble so it would force the inner-flap away. The sound would be humorous to most children as it sounded a lot like the hand in armpit sound. The air forced itself from the hole in front, bottlenecked and thus concentrated via the cone shape he had created at start. The fast moving rush of air first flared the bed of coals before him a bit before the air was too much and picked up a bunch of the fiery seeds of doom. The smoke, coals, and ash all took to the air quite quickly. The beast didn’t know how to react it appeared as an odd squealing sound of confusion emerged from around the eye and said eye grew in size.

The fiery and soot taken by the straight line buffer of air connected with the eye of amazement and the the beast pulled it’s eye back, a sound mixed between a yowl of surprise and a howling screech of pain filled the air. Spoons didn’t waste anytime as he pulled his hand from the openings in his patchwork, grabbed what he owned in a jumble that he had to wrap an arm around and connect to his body to keep securely in place.

Grabbing his py-pole the survivalist ran out the cave, spotted the creature. It was scratching at it’s face with a front paw, in this light he could see it was a small wolflike creature, reddish-brown body with white and brown markings. It was a fox, the bushy tailed bugger was pawing at his face from the sooty fireball that Spoons launched at it.

Poor bugger. The pycon knew it would be stupid to remain in that specific location and thusly took off, running as fast as his little legs could take him past the fox. Up a small embankment Spoons turned to see the poor animal was whimpering and pawing at it’s eyes, this time less feverishly than just ticks ago. Time to hide... Spoons turned and disappeared into the underbrush. Several feet in and the pycon stopped, dropping his possessions to the ground as he waited for either daybreak or a safe amount of time. There was no telling what time it was currently.

Once hidden from view of any creatures of the night Spoons leaned forward, hands on knees as he gasped heavily. His body finally catching up with the events of the night’s situation. “Holy shyke. Caihya grant me the safety within your domain during the final leg of my journey. Aquiras, give me safe travelling home.” His breathing took several ticks until it returned to a state of semi-normalcy. Standing straight the survivalist pycon turned his concentration to prepping his belongings for the remaining travel home. Cramming gear into the proper pack and then tugging on the packs to their proper locations. Ensuring straps and buckles were secured tightly Spoons made sure that he had placed his snail shell with cap in his backpack. Oncehe was confident that the shell wasn't going anywhere he picked up his py-pole and turned his attention back to the physical world around him.

Gripping the pole tightly so that the skin on them tightened to the point of whitening the pycon reached forward with his free hand and pushed aside some of the foliage that acted as a screen from the beasts around him. Bad mistake for the clay man, standing just beyond the greenery was another of Caihya’s nocturnal children. The beady eyes of the creature didn’t see Spoons at first, the pycon inhaled sharply and slowly removed his hand from the foliage. A soft swishing of the underbrush and Spoons could see the creature whip its head around. The slender body of the creature bent in a near ninety-degree angle the spine. Shyke. He gulped, the pole quivered in his hand tightly as he realized what the animal was.

It was a ferret, a sly creature with a higher than normal intelligence quotient than most of the other races. Its body was highly flexible and durable beyond belief. It was practically the natural version of the pycon race itself. Spoons gulped and stepped back as quietly as he could, the ferret however already noticed him and lunged into the underbrush. Spoons jumped in fright and turned tail, running as hard and fast as his body would allow him to.

Pre-Dawn
One Day From Pyconia

Spoons lost track of time and eventually his breath. Fatigue was overcoming his body and the poor pycon dropped to the ground in a mass of heaving and slumping clay. Luckily for the survivalist the ferret was long gone, having given up on attack the clay man. Laying on the ground Spoons allowed his body to cool down using the natural cool temperature of the world beneath him. Sighing loudly he waited for some time before first sitting up and looking around him. Behind him Syna was rising, showing her warming rays of life. Spoons smiled and laughed at himself, he survived the night. Turning his body so Syna remained behind him the clay man started walking.

Using his pole as a walking stick the pycon kept his gait slow and evenly stepped. He knew he had a day left to return home, and thusly he kept it slow and steady. The survivalist took gulps of water as he walked, chewed on clay as he needed sustenance on his final leg home. By midday Spoons found himself by a small stream, his pole was resting at his feet and his shell with cap was in his hands. Looking at the holes of the cap he smiled and looked around, there were vines hanging close to the stream that he could use to create a strap with. “Perfect!” Setting the shell down he grabbed hold of a tendril the vine and started to pull it towards his body. Half a foot or so worth of the plant-rope and Spoons used his teeth to tear the vine off its main mass.

Stepping back with the cut piece Spoons held it up for closer examination, it was a smooth and leafless length of rope like material. A nod accompanied his returning to sitting beside his pole and shell. Pulling off the cap he ran one end in the hole, looped it over the top and then tied the end to the vine and pulled tightly. A tug on the long tail gave the survivalist the confidence that his handiwork would stay put until he could find a more suitable replacement. Repeating the process on the other side of the cap using the other end of the vine Spoons had created a quick and easy strap to hold the shell and cap to his body. “Time to test the tension.” Filling the shell with water Spoons capped the shell and using the strap lifted it up. The cap held as did the vine… For now.

“Yes!” he cried out happily before slinging the whole thing over his shoulder and reaching down to grab his py-pole. Spoons had a half day travel left to return home. With Syna’s rays heating his back the pycon once more made his way to the beloved pyve known as Pyconia.

Late Evening
Seven Chimes from Pyconia

Spoons could see the pyve from his campsite, meaning they could see him. Yet he had no want to return in the dead of night, instead he planned on returning early morning, not long after Syna made her appearance in the heavens once again. “Father will be glad to see me I am sure.” Smiling brightly at the thought Spoons sighed heavily and decided to turn in for the night, daybreak was not far off and the young traveler wanted to be well rested when he returned home.

Daybreak came and Spoons found himself entering through the main gate of Pyconia, shell full of water swing from his shoulder, py-pole plodding along, guiding footfalls on his path to his current destination: home.
