Hello everyone!

My name is Flyaway, and I am the DS of Kalinor, a VERY interesting city in the Kalea region. I'm here today to share in the excitement of my city, the culture of my people, the upcoming twists and turns in our intricate web of plots, and what we offer to players looking to have a good time here on Mizahar :)

So, as you may know, Kalinor is a city built deep underground by the Symenetra, a race of pale humanoids with long venomous fangs, beautiful jewel colored eyes, and sharp claws. But what most people don't know is there is a story around these unique people and their place of dwelling, filled with heartache, exodus, resiliency, and adaptation.

You see, the Symenestra people inhabited Falyndar before the Valterrian, over 500 years ago. There they were raised in a harsh jungle environment, and lived tribalistically. The biggest occupations were hunting, crafting, gathering, and making music. They were typically scantily clad in soft cloths and played large drums, hunting with spears, ect. During the Myrian conquest, the wise Symenestra people knew they were outmatched and outnumbered, and decided to leave the home of their ancestors in a mass exodus, abandoning their floating city of glass in the treetops to the colder, less humid, and more rocky environment of southern Kalea.

After the long exodus, a new city was established in the Kalean pines, and the Spider folk named it Kalinad, which in Symenos means "Above Kalea". Kalinad was yet another floating city of wood and glass, and for a while things were good, until the Valterrian.

Just before the Valterrian, the Symenestra had begun to fortify a large underground cavern for use in case of another emergency like the exodus of Falyndar. Such an emergency reared its head in the form of the Valterrian. During the Valterrian, the people experienced a sort of depression/ renaissance. Feelings of hopelessness, fear, oppression, abandonment, mourning, and homesickness were expressed in works of art and literature. Much changed for the people in those dark times, most for better some for worse. It wasn't long before conceiving mothers began to grow sick during pregnancy, due to their children's poison becoming deadly at an earlier age. More and more began to die, and the suffering did not cease after the dust had settled. Soon something had to be done, and the Symenestra turned to a new god for guidance, one who dealt in the deepest of binds. Viratas, god of blood.

Symenestra elders decided a great harvest would be undertaken by any eligble males within Kalinor. Women from the surrounding cities were seduced and impregnated, unaware that their full blooded symenestra child would be the end of them. This continued from those times until now, and the people are still struggling to grasp a slice of life.

Kalinor Wants You

Postby Flyaway on March 27th, 2014, 4:53 am

Now fast-forward to now. Kalinor's population is in a slow upswing, but too slow for the liking of the Symenestra. That hasn't stopped them from living day to day as a people of spicy culture, heated politics, and never ending drama. The floating city beneath Kalea's surface is a perfect place for new PC's and Alts, and the best part is, in Kalinor, you can be anything.

Common trades are Weaving, hunting, silk harvesting, music, police (Ochya/ Verkai), politicians, Preisthood, culinary arts, medical, and just about anything else you can think of. There's tons to do, Including festivals, questing, harvests, skinny dipping in the blue grotto, and much more.

There's always some sort of mystery to solve, be it betrayal, a lost surrogate, Vandalism, and much more. Best part is, all citizens of Kalinor are invited to band together in attempts to figure things out. The people come in many shapes and sizes, and if you like to travel, Harvests and Gleanings are the perfect reason.

I hope to see you in Kalinor soon. Spring is underway, and a lot of twists and turns are in store for Kalinor this season, so I look foreward to threading with you!
