Akka Stringtoucher

Born 33/04/486 in the grass sea surrounding Endrykas, Akka is a 28 years-old drykas horsewoman from the topaz clan.
Her family is heavily invested in the art of archery and bowyering, and she did not deviate from this path.

Appearance

Appearance: Akka is a blonde woman who got a darker complexity than her parents because of her grandmother: the most skilled artisan of bows and arrows of her time, serving the hunters and horseback archers from all the horseclans. With characteristic long and braided hair, which she carries with honor for her clan and history, Akka is very thin and has her bones showing trough her skin — something she does not like, as it has always been regarded by her mother as a sign of sadness. Almost always wearing light-colored clothing, decorated with yellow, her clothes to her mean something much greater than aesthetics or expression, but conviction for the cause of equality and the history and tennets of her clan. With a calm, sober, sad and analytical expression on her face, her lack of expression is more of a display of tranquility, rather than a sign of apathy. Carrying very small breasts and a narrow hip, horses gifted her with muscular legs, among many other presents. Five years after riding with the strider that chose her, a black mare underestimated by fellow drykas until rode by Akka, she got tatooed on her back, the sides of her thighs and both sides of her torso, with patterns copied from the artwork her grandmother used to make on longbows while still alive.

Character Concept

Akka is not an extroverted type, however is eager to say thath which she deems necessary. Growing up in the topaz clan has taught her important lessons about not being silent in face of oppression, and using her voice to demand that those who are treated differently be treated by the community better, and supported to their needs. Not at all a lone warrior, she believes that strenght comes from numbers, and the sense of community gathered from life in the Migrating City showed her how uniting with others is needed. She is happy to meet and team up, and very practical when it comes to keeping relations she establishes healthy. Akka has a pragmatic and logical spirit, a heritance from the importance of philosophy inside her clan and family — a grandfather, still alive, who holds being pragmatic as a virtue that will enable the Seven Clans to improve their lives exponentially.

Akka knows how to be loyal, and to whom. Her alliances are not always merely pragmatic and strategic: she knows how to seek virtue in others, and recognize their hability to suffer. However, overdoing this has also made her thicker, and able to see through the slightest show of cinicysm and dishonesty. She takes the sisterhood with fellow women very seriously, and their struggle as one of the most important ones. She doesn't hold her feelings from others, and will often be caught saying something blunt where it shouldn't be said, or exposing feelings that are often held back. Whereas this takes people by surprise most of the time, it comes to her as a virtue and an hability.

Character History

Growing up in the grass sea isn't easy. And the way it changes who you are can be aggressive. Akka was raised in a small family of artisans who practiced archery with the finest bows they crafted themselves. Being an archer and a bowyer to the family are not two different things: bows must be made, wars must be fought. Her grandmother was known for making the most excellent bows around, and her relationship with her was very deep — she also taught Akka about the struggle of women, something the learned to take very seriously, and which her mother holds very dear in her heart too. Somewhat taboo in the family, but something that Akka refused to let die, the subject of female oppression was discussed among family women very often, and the word ‘man’ gathered a whole different meaning for the young Akka while growing up.

Upon the death of her grandmother, ten years after Tropo, the Black Mare — her horse — chose her when still five years old, Akka decided to travel to Syliras and seek fellow women to form a Warrior Women Society. With such solid plans, she took the dangerous trip with many other fellow horsemen, and arrived in town to meet the iron fist of the Syliran Knights.
