Business Plan
The Foundation of the Elemental Mind

Business Type: Service

The Foundation is a business that aims to provide specialized magical services to the citizens of Ravok. Mainly by providing access to a well trained Reimancer and Hypnotist, but as well through seasonal training and laboratory access. All one needs to do is make an appointment and pay the necessary fees. Though patience of a flexible schedule may be required for some services.

Reimancy services include the variable applications of the discipline to solve a wide range of problems. Fire may dispose of undesirable things, while water can wash away a mess. Structures can be erected in stone and sculptures may be forged in ice. However a Reimancer may also be hired as an escort, able to ensure safety and provide other conveniences.

Hypnotism services are mostly centered around Hypnotherapy. In magical sessions held, the Hypnotist works to assist a person through psychological limitations or trauma. Buried memories can be discovered and various behaviors can be modified with prolonged therapy. Services are not limited to that however. Hypnotism can be used for extracting valuable information and inspiring false beliefs.

I am approving this Business Plan with the following IMPORTANT notations/modifications:

First off, as usual, Miro, you present me with an interpretation of some details and repercussions of the rules I've created that I haven't considered. That in mind, I will be updating a few things to address this however, for the sake of this particular plan, I will grandfather some things.

Now, on to the plan itself.

Hypnotism isn't exactly related to Reimancy except for the fact that they are both examples of Personal Magic types. As a mage practiced in multiple disciplines, I can see your character being capable of offering more than one magical service for profit even if the disciplines aren't all that directly connected.

Keep in mind that if this actual business is approved (I am only approving the plan itself, not the location), you will need to devote at least 3 job threads a season to the actual operation of the business with threads done to benefit the maintenance and growth of the business itself.

This brings me to a simple yet somewhat significant modification to the plan. Ravok, or should I say the Ebonstryfe, despite its somewhat fractured, conflict-filled organizational structure, maintains a rather tight grip on magic use within the city. They operate the primary location for all things magical in the form of The Institute of Higher Learning. They do not stop with simple teaching. The Institute is also tasked to CONTROL all things magical within the city as the "magical fist" of the Ebonstryfe within Ravok.

An individual, non-human (more specifically, undead) such as Miro, who possesses no small amount of magical influence, who offers magical services outside the control of the Ebonstryfe and the Institute, would be seen as a threat to the Ebonstryfe's control (or at least some parts of it). This makes operating such a business quite difficult and not something to be done out in the open. Because of this, I must include a 20% sales penalty which brings you total Income to 58 gm / day.

Because of this, you will not be able to freely and openly operate your business because the Ebonstryfe would come down on you with strength and numbers that even Miro, with his magical mastery, would not be able to stand against. The need to remain secretive and hidden combined with the fact that the Citizens of Ravok would never defy the will of the Ebonstryfe, The Black Sun or Rhysol, brings about difficulty in meeting the full business potential.

Additionally, it may be difficult to establish and operate this business to begin with due to the heavy hand of the Ebonstryfe and The Black Sun. That however is up to Ravok's storyteller. Difficult but not impossible. Job threads may need to include actions taken by your character to address the fact that the Ebonstryfe is always a threat; they are always trying to find and eliminate you and your services if only because they have no control over you. If they had control, you wouldn't exist.

Disclaimer: This approval is only for the Business Plan itself. Approval of the business and its location, including any NPCs be they current or future, is up to the relevant Storyteller.
