RISING TIDES

It was muggy, stifling, the air so thick it might have been able to be collected in wooden troughs. It wasn't raining at this particular moment, but it seemed that way due to the sheer volume of moisture. Water trickled from leaves, down bark, and collected in the soil, creating a false sense and the sound of rain despite its current lack of actually happening.
This of course made for poor tracking, and not superb visuals for the three Dhani hunters roaming the wilds this morning. The advantage was that it was far easier to sneak around Myrians, though this could become a double edged sword, for it was also hard to hear them coming. That issue, however, was not presently a problem. The three Dhani, two fairly large, and one on the smaller side were far away from the blockade and in little danger of finding scouts, even if they did...well they had the infamous Master Reimancer Queen Soshakuakamamushi on their side, and there was little to fear.
The two Dhani hunters Aka knew well enough, one was male and skilled at stealth and tracking, though he was cursing the weather, the female was deadly with the massive spear she carried at her side, the shaft more like a log than a stick, but something she could easily wield in her towering Dhani form. The two hunters deferred to Aka's every whim, but despite her status as Queen, did not grovel or pander for her affection. They had a job to do, to feed their nest, and this was of greatest importance.
Over the dripping of water one could usually hear insects and birds. Despite the wetness this was where they thrived, and the frogs? Exponentially so. So when it suddenly became clear that the only sounds apart fromt he water came from the slithering of the three serpents the male paused, holding up a hand. Serpentine eyes flickered from one pair to the next, confusion and awareness raised.
But the silence was not complete...not by a long shot, for suddenly a definite rumbling began to emerge. At first it was quiet, the drip drop of water easily louder than it. But soon the rumble became a roar, and in the distance they could see foliage being ripped and torn by some great force.
That great force, was Aka's worst nightmare, and the female screamed.
"Queen Aka, Wa-"
But by then...it was far too late.
