Ssemet offered a wrist to Sseth, which the snake took for what it was. He slithered up her wrist and back on to her shoulders to get away from the more dangerous tabletops. Apparently there was a game to be had, she had observed drinking games in taverns on multiple occasions but had never taken part. Working usually meant light drinking at the most, but in ZInrah her work was not her flute. It was time to try something new.

The exotic half-breed left even though the other woman called her directly. Perhaps the other woman was another half-breed or slave and that is why she could be ignored? Ssemet knew already that in Zinrah the Dhani were the top of the food chain.

Scooping up her belongings and stowing her flute in her tightly wrapped sash the viper made her way to the table. Mug in hand, it was readily apparent she would need additional beverages to partake. Some part of her wondered if it was unwise to do so given her extreme lack of funds but if need be the viper could continue to play for coin each night after she was done at the Bastille, that would keep food in her maw until she was paid her wages. To Hai with it, she chided herself and sat down with the other Dhani. Listening to one round between the original trio Ssemet managed to intuit the point of the game.

One of the constrictors asked another, “Have you ever begged a male?”

The Dhani asked the question made an impressive, if drunken, display of being humiliated. She hissed beneath her breath. “Yes.”

Glances were exchanged between the judges. Finally Ssemet answered, “It’s false.”

The target of the question laughed, her acting seen through. “Of course it is, who would ever beg?” The loser took a big swig to drain her mug.

Ssemet sighed in relief, the game was understood and now it was time to play. Unfortunately the little viper was bad at lying if neither mizas or music was involved. The woes of a street performer. The next question was brandied at the newest viper that Ssemet had never met, “Have you ever eaten a nestmate’s pet?”

Sashae lowered her eyes to her mug, looking abashed and ashamed. "Only once, asss a youngling." She shifted to meet the querrent's gaze, "One of the little oness had a big pet lizard. It was ssummer, and food is sso hard to come by in the dessert... there was nothing elsssse to be had... sso I ripped the poor thing up and sshared him with a few of the..." Sashae paused for a moment, stumbling over her common. She tilted her head slightly left, her eyes searching the ceiling to her right side, seeming to literally try and look for the word. "Kidsss...Hatchlings... snakelings?" Sashae snapped her fingers repeatedly, knowing that the girl with the tawny eyes probably wouldn't understand what she was trying to convey, and wishing someone would spit out the word for her.
"Children!" she finally managed, shaking a finger at the halfling. "I pulled him apart and shared him with the children."
Sashae watched as the constrictors exchanged a few glances and nods, but waited for the Viper to voice her opinion....

oocI am so sorry for the delay!!

The half breed's gaze fell upon an especially bright hued viper. After her encounters with Aka, Tinnok had learned how small the subrace of vipers was compared to Constrictors, and it seeemed as if both the flutist and the entrance must be of a kin if they were so close.

She nodded happily as the two wound over, glancing in a concerned way as Haasha merely shuffled out of the Distillery. As she watched her disappear into the shadows, the other Constrictors were shifting to make room for the two new participants in their game, muttering complaints, but clearly not so off put to include a few new members of their game, especially at this current level of their inebriation.

Tinnok offered an incline of her head to both of the Vipers, taking a simultaneous sip of her thick grog. "I am Tinnok." She said simply, her grasp of common not allowing for a more expansive introduction. Then the constrictors wasted no time in beginning the game anew, for their was more alcohol that needed to be consumed. At the first question Tinnok leaned back. One glaring similarity she had learned that lay between Myrians and Dhani was their matriarchal society. This was an apt question to be asked, but Tinnok's instinct made it out to be lies.

She had no need to confer with Ssemet, however, who seemed to instantaneously know the answer. The half breed leaned back, and listened to the next question directed at the striped viper. This one was tougher. She knew nothing about this Dhani save for the fact that she was eager to join in on the game with little introduction or care for the other Constrictors. Did that make her someone who would seem shame faced at eating a nestmate's pet lizard? Or was it a lie?

She leaned in toward Ssemet, the Constrictor's conferring amongst themselves as well. "My guess? Truth." She shrugged. There was of course a chance she was wrong, and she'd have to drink, they all would, but that was the risk of the game.

The viper shot a coy smirk at the half breed from over the rim of her mug. "True enough..." she hissed, taking a deep gulp from the bottom of her mug.
Setting the empty glass aside, she pushed herself away from the table, already a little off balance from the small amount of alcohol. "Well, thiss hass bee ecsssilarating, but I must be off. Do me a kindnesss, Tinok, and take my turn for me, won't you pleasse?" She gave Tinok a sugary sweet smile before turning her attentions to Ssemet. "As for you, my dear, your playing is positively entrancing. I do hope to hear more of it in the future. It is so... pleasurable... to find even a modicum of the warmth of home in these dank tunnels. Do keep up the good work." Then with a wink to the flautist, and a rather wobbly bow to the rest of the table Sashae slithered away into the night just as mysterious as when she arrived.

OOCPlease pardon the abrupt exit. I have decided to make some changes to this character, and did not want to be doing so in the middle of your RP. Please enjoy the rest of the thread, and forgive me for intruding so strangely. I hope to see both of you around in the future once I get things straightened out.

Ssemet nodded at Tinnok, not entirely sure what to make of the half-breed. “I am Shasshtekssemet.” She replied to the introduction. First the strangely gaunt half-breed and then this considerably healthier looking character. Sseth seemed to find her acceptable and so Ssemet was willing to give her a chance.

The musician curled her fingers around her mug listening to Tinnok’s statement of truth. Ssemet agreed but kept it to herself since she had answered earlier. The viper looked out over the tavern, watching the ebb and flow of patrons. It seemed that although music was universal there was one more than thing that all the races enjoyed; alcohol. Every city she had known had a bar, tavern, pub, or some other similar establishment. Alcohol was the mortal’s singular common hobby, or so she guessed.

She motioned to take a sip off her brew and then recalled if this game continued it would empty soon enough. Returning her mug to the table, she listened intently to the devolving syllables of the constrictors. Smiling as the ephemeral viper made her exit, “Thank you, your praissse iss too much.” Again the numbers were down to five and it was Tinnok’s turn to craft an inquiry.

Ssemet was already trying to come up with future questions, it was the most difficult portion of the game. She felt the culture shock as well, some traits ran true through all Dhani sisters, but the regions that separated their upbringing changed much. She certainly couldn’t ask them if they’d ever stolen from an Eypharian, they might never have met one at all. Not to mention quips about Benshiras would fall on confused ears. The only thing they really had in common was their general dislike for humans hers stemmed from Nykans, and theirs from Myrians. Her interactions with the savages were limited… her eyes slid to Tinnok. Could she… no. Why would the Dhani ever let a Myrian into the nest? How could they trust her not to cause a conflagration in the hatcheries or release the slaves in the Bastille to mount an offensive? The woman must be some other type of human or mortal.

Gently shaking her head she turned her gaze back to her mug to avoid her stares becoming too obvious. It was time for the game to continue as the bartender brought another round. Ssemets own mug still half full meant she had to lose soon or her second would become stale. “What will you asssk of uss Tinnok?”

oocNo worries, Sashae! Hope your

The halfbreed raised her eyebrows at the colorful viper, who swept in and out so swiftly. Her head was swimming, fingers tapping incessently against her mug, part of her mind trying to figure out if her words were laced with some sort of insult, while the other part of them simply didn't care. It was an understatement to say the half breed didn't drink often, and since she had fled from Taloba her alcohol intake had been exactly...nothing, even though she should savor her alcohol for when she was forced to drink it, Tinnok took a deep swig of her thick, terrible tasting Myrian grog, and eye Ssemet with a devious smile.

"Have ever sleep with other female?" She figured this sort of question could apply to any race. She had learned since coming to Zinrah that there were strangely odd similarities between Dhani and Myrians, especially when it came to their female superiority. It wasn't uncommon for females to be attracted to their fellows, though males were necessary for procreation, no one looked down upon anyone that desired another of the superior gender.

The Constrictors hissed happily at this new question, drawing closer to each other, a few hands sliding over scales. Tinnok shook her head as if that was like to clear anything, staring at Ssemet in anticipation of answer. Some tiny part of her mind wondered about Tsuya, and of the state her head would be come morning. None of this matter now, however.
