The Fallen Leaf [Job]

Summer 15, 514 A.V
Xen was sitting in the Red Room with his mind plagued with worry and doubt. In the silence of the Red Room, he could not understand why he was feeling like this. He couldn’t understand why this pain was centered only on his heart! Why did he feel as though he had just experienced an incomprehensible loss? This absence upon his heart slowly began to spread—its thorny extension’s grasping at his flesh. Xen cringes at this sorrow which began to deeply embed itself within his soul and feed upon the happiness there. These cold, blackened roots rob him of precious warmth.

Then his mind began to wander into darkness where it quickly lost its way and discovers ill-founded fears with it—misery. The warm and smooth floor beneath Xen suddenly turns cold and feels as though blistering ice had replaced the smooth, stone floor beneath his fingers. The world around Xen darkened but only slightly, for colors could still be seen vividly inside the deep and dark purple of his eyes. Yet the bright meaning he gave the world—this world of love, was now losing its precious, vital meaning.

Xen looks at his hands and closes them to form them into fists. What had he done to deserve this? Why did he have to experience this emptiness again, for what reason? He stands to his feet as anger takes ahold of him and crushes sadness. Like before, his loved ones left him in Zinrah and never returned. Xen angrily grits his teeth. It appears as though history was repeating itself with his beloved children and wife, Aka: who he hadn’t seen in some many days. In the jungle, living things that go missing within its depths hardly, nigh never return. Disconsolation could describe the state Xen was in as all of this just made life for him much less enjoyable.

A drowsy customer is what brings Xen back to reality. The constrictors clumsy yet sluggish movements were amusing to witness; they cause the ire stricken Xen to realize that there were still some things capable of bringing light to his existence. He displays a small grin but his visage still of a young, male dhani that had lost his beloved and cherished mate. A sigh escapes Xen’s mouth as his eyes close for a moment. When he opens them a few tears stream down his cheeks and hit the floor with a sorrowful sound. In doldrums, one is given a crown to wear and earns the title: the crestfallen.

He knew love that turned to poison: a lovely toxin that fuels this vexation.

“Welcome to the Red Room. I’am Xen and I will be taking care of you today,” Xen says to the constrictor with a dull and almost lifeless tone of voice.

The tears upon his cheeks had dried but within they continued to flow as ice. Xen watched in silence as the constrictor, to his inconvenience, flops onto the massage table. Oh great, now he had to reposition this heavy, female constrictor all by himself! This was probably going to be a tedious task as most constrictors did not enjoy being touched, by some random viper, without their knowing. Xen gently grasps the constrictors left leg and places it onto the table. The last step was a bit tricky; he had to reposition the big female’s upper body and avoid being grasped or struck by her arms.

“Madame, you need to fix your posture.”

The female was silent but compliant and she lazily lines her human form with that of the massage bed. Xen was quick to place a towel over the constrictors nude form, he believed that one’s body should not be displayed openly to others but the constrictors and the rest of his kindred were nudists at heart. He shows his modesty but the blushing and easy-to-fluster nature of his was gone. This pain he felt was only brought onto him by his naivety and weakness in spirit.

Useless, things such as emotions; they are all but pointless distractions that hinder my advancement, ” Xen thought bitterly and coldly.

The female constrictor continued to be silence; however, with her body language, extended leg and constant eye contact with Xen. She made what she wanted clear…a leg massage. Xen extends his left hand to catch the sole of the female’s foot and uses his free, right hand to feel her from her ankle all the way up to her knee. The shin-bone made judgment difficult but from what he felt, as he moves his hand behind her knee and massages downwards, there were no visible knots. Xen switches hands after his right hand reaches the constrictors ankle and uses his left hand to massage the left side of his client’s leg.

When he passes the knee, he slightly strengthens his grip and allows the four fingers of his palm to slide beneath his client’s thigh as his thumb rolls along the top part. Xen pauses in his session to avoid going too high up his client’s thigh as he did not want to his actions to be perceived as something sexual. He then releases his grip and places the palm of his hand onto the constrictors thigh. Time seemed to pass quicker when one’s mind was too distracted to feel its perpetual flow. Yet Xen, as he was now, would not allow times presence to go unnoticed under his keen senses. He massages downwards, allowing his soft hand to scan the flesh beneath it. Xen was pleased to know that his client was devoid of knot and when he reached the ankle once more, he releases his client.

“How doess your leg feel?” Xen asked curiously.

The female constrictor stood to her feet and flexes her leg. The towel placed on her falls onto the moist floor and Xen was quick to retrieve it. When he gives his client the towel she doesn’t cover herself: instead she places the towel across the back of her neck and steps into the warm water of a nearby hotspring.

“My leg feelsss a bit better. Thank you,” says the female constrictor.

Xen bows in silence as a kind of your welcome to the constrictor. This was probably the first time a constrictor thanked him in Zinrah and he grins slightly. A small bit of thanks could heal most damaged hearts it seemed. Xen leaves his client to relax and sits down on a vacant massage table, he deserved a bit of rest despite doing only a small amount of work. When he sits back on the table, sleep was ready to take him away. This affliction upon Zinrah still hadn't passed and seemed endless, when would it end? All of this was just too tiresome. The disappearance of his children and beloved Aka weighed heavily upon him even as his mind tried to rest.

Xen would never forget her; memories of her would linger forever on within his mind. He closes his eyes to gaze upon the bittersweet as apathy takes hold. Xen believed he would always be beside his mate but eternity and destiny believed in something else it seemed.

The Fallen Leaf [Job]

The End
Xen was awakened by what felt like a hand on his face. When he opens his eyes, his gaze meets with that of the female constrictors. This was a bit awkward, having a strangers face so close to his, so Xen rolls off the massage table and straightens his clothing with his hands. He couldn’t blame the female for her concern; his appearance was terrible after all. Xen’s hair was in shambles and had lost most of its luster. There were thin dark lines around his eyes that made him to appear angry, sorrowful and tired. He had lost so much in such little time and for what reason? In the end was he going to receive a reward, one greater than this current misfortune?

No! This wasn’t right, nothing was right here! Xen shakes his head in disbelief; he couldn’t accept what was happening nor could he accept what he was thinking. Maybe…all of this was a dream? One terrible, twisted dream that some broken part of his mind forced to manifest. Yet, no matter how much he desired this to be the case, facing this reality was what he only could do. Xen, for the first time in his lengthy life, felt total and utter nothingness. The void within him grew rapidly and began to eat away at the light and feeling within him as a black hole would.

There was nothing to place this blame upon.

Xen slams his fist into the massage table as a tear escapes his right eye. He slams his fist into the soft cushion again and again until he found his well kept form break down and castaway all composure it had—he felt his spirit decay, he was in thrall to choler and grief’s corrupting influence. Xen’s outrage went on for a chime before he found his hands being restrained by the female constrictor: who was in his care. The female’s strength allowed her restrain Xen but nothing she currently did could calm this storm within him called suffering.

“Listen, you have to calm down,” says the female constrictor in an assertive tone!

“All I’ve cherished is gone and now nothing remains.,” says Xen with his voice graced with melancholia.

The female constrictor pulls Xen towards her and places his head onto her chest. At the moment Xen could not understand the female’s actions. What compelled her to do this; love, lust, maternal instincts? He couldn’t guess the concept, for his mind was not at rest. Xen, his head lying on the constrictors breast, did not blush such things did not concern him anymore. The temptations of flesh and blood, money and possessions all these concepts became foreign to him.

Chimes passed quickly while Xen was within the constrictors embrace. How disgraceful he must’ve looked, his image as a male was indeed ruined by his shameful display. Xen then looks at the massage table and frowns. The blanket over the bed had been disarranged by his little outburst. Surely, Kihlissorayls would have been disappointed with his actions and fired him for his lack of control, if she had witnessed his act. Xen closes his eyes and sighs; his breath pushing away the long brown hair that was resting upon his face. When he opens his eyes, he releases himself from the constrictors embrace and stands beside her in silence.

“I’m sorry… and thank you for your kindness,” says Xen apologetically

“You’re a man aren’t you? Don’t be going all crazy on a lady after you’ve given them a massage,” says the female constrictor

The female was right and Xen could not agree anymore than he did now. Then he watches as his client climbed onto the massage table and waited to be serviced. Xen as usual, places a towel over his client’s buttocks. He then places his right hand onto the right side of his client’s lower back and then places his left hand on the other side. Xen had to lean over slightly to ensure equal strength distribution. He pushes down with the back of his palms and rolls up. Xen then rolls his back and rolls his palms upwards again. When Xen pushes upwards a second time, he moves his hands all the way up his clients back until he reaches her shoulder blades.

Xen moves his hands from his client’s shoulders blades and allows his four fingers to cascade over her shoulders while he leaves his thumbs on his clients back. Xen begins his massage by gently tightening and then releasing his grip. He moves the tips of his fingers and thumbs rhythmically during the massage and as he scans the tense muscle tissue of his client’s shoulders for knots, he hears a pop. Xen thought he had broken something at first but when the constrictor gasps, it didn’t so like one of pain but one of relief. He was willing to continue massaging; however, his client chose to sit up and flex her back and shoulders before he could.

“That will be enough for today, thank you,” says the female constrictor

Xen knew his technique wasn’t all that great; he had missed center of her back and her right leg. All he was used to performing was light tissue massages while deep tissue massage remained somewhat foreign to him. Xen steps aside to grant his client some space and watches in silence as she hands him her towel and walks out of The Red Room. He felt he was in the female constrictors debt and would be sure thank her for that small gesture of kindness from earlier. He had lost his composure over an assumption but he would go and search for his beloved, Aka.

And so Xen sat down on the massage table and completed his work for today.
