1st Day of Fall, Dawn, 510

Talos had been wandering the streets a little more and more each day. He was interested in finding all the shops and the like that the castle-town had hiding. He had already been impressed by the structure of the fortress, though it had nothing against an Isurian structure, and was amazed that humans could accomplish such feats. The teachers of his clan made above grounders sound completely incompetent and this castle said otherwise. He found himself in a good mood this afternoon, which was a nice change of pace and he walked on to find a place to eat. Perhaps a place that served some mushroom dishes...

Ah, some good mushroom would make my day...

The only problem was that he didn’t want to eat at a place he had been before, he wanted to explore and find the best mushroom dispensing eatery. As he searched the main walk ways he relished the feel of fall on his mostly bare body and found himself smiling despite the week’s cloudy mood. Searching for a place to eat seemed to actually be something close to fun.

I think it's time to give these guys a chance...

After stumbling through the city gates, he immediately began his adventure within the city. The goal-food and ale. He moved his gold purse around his waist until it was concealed by his cloak. He moved farther and was caught unawares by the sighting of another Isurian.

"What're the chances?"

He quickened his pace as he headed toward his fellow kinsman, almost forgetting his hunger completely at the unexpected chances. He had never seen another Isurian before, other than his parents. He was quite awkward as he neared the other.

"Excuse me, I'm in need of assistance. I think you of all that are in Syliras might be able to help."

He had a hint of a smile on his face, proud of the fact he didn't fumble his speech from nervousness.

I hope he's nicer than he looks.

A man began to approach Talos at what he, at the time, consitered an alarming rate. Everything he felt was washed away in a moment when he saw the man's arm, blue. That's when he very suddenly realized that it wasn't a man at all, just a boy from the homelands.

What a strange sight to see... How did he get out here...

All suspicions aside he was amazingly relieved to find another Isur in this foreign land, no matter how young he may be. He grinned in spite of the company he kept and addressed the boy heartily.

"I can't believe I'm seeing another Isurian here! Damn glad to see you, boy... that is, my name is Talos, Talos Stalwart..."

He leaned in close to the boy.

"Of the Coglias clan, no need to be letting these above grounders in on that... So what are you doing in this city and so far from your home?"

He stuck his "good" arm out at the boy, its harder then rock skin glowing green in the light given by the near by buildings. Not that they needed much light either way. The sheer excitement of seeing another Isur in the city threw aside all inquisition he should have normally felt towards the mysterious boy and fore once, in a long span of days, he found himself truly happy with his company.

Fortenbras relaxed almost to the point of collapse at the enthusiasm of his newfound friend. He suddenly felt the weight of his body increase ten fold. As the man gave him his name, it took great effort to even concentrate, his tattered clothing and dirt encrusted chest seemingly shrinking, as he slowly began to sink into himself from hunger and exhaustion.

"You wouldn't even believe how glad I am to see someone I can speak with. I'm Fortenbras," He leaned in towards the man, his lips inches away from Talos' right ear, "I am Vizerian, though the only other Isurians I have ever spoken with are my mother and father." He stepped back again, his legs beginning to wobble, ready to give way.

Do not fall.

"My father passed away from an unknown sickness, and my mother passed away. I am left with nothing but the clothes I wear, and the gold in my purse. My friend, I believe it is best we head to a tavern. I'm starved to the point of collapse."

He clapsed the man's good arm with his own, revealing that he was in fact Vizerian.

"Lead, and I will follow."

The condition of the Isurian in front of him became very clear all too suddenly and he sifted through his well chronicled memory and pulled out the location of his regular eating spot. A little place called the rearing stallion. He had been there for most of his dinning experiences and, while they couldn't make much of anything for mushroom dishes, they did have a warm hospitality that he found both inviting and nostalgic.

"We're going to go to the Stallion, I hope you don't mind and I can pay for whatever you need as long as you promise me to eat until you feel better!"

He had never really seen an Isur in need and the sight of it made him want to rebel against the city even more. It bewildered him that no one would help some one so clearly in need and the mere look of the boy screamed it.

Maybe they just don't like our kind here... not that I've received any ill treatment..

As he walked towards their new location a small gang of questions began to fight their way to the front of his mind. He did his best to hold them back until his newly acquired friend was well enough to answer them. They really weren't too far from the tavern and it came into view shortly.

"Will this place suffice?"

An almost stern look would have made the boy agree either way as Talos was hardly in the mood for arguing with someone who was half staved and in need of a bath.

Despite the fall in temperature from the disappearance of the sun, a bead of sweat appeared rolling down his forehead. This was an amazing sight, as Isurians could withstand lots of heat from the fires of the forge. The sweat occured merely from the amount of force being used to keep himself standing.

"The Stallion? So long as it's close my new friend, I'm willing to go. I do not, however need help in payment for the food; your company is more than enough."

He followed behind Talos, concentrating on putting one foot ahead of the other, hoping to Izurdin that they would be at the Tavern sooner, rather than later. He was quite happy with himself, at making his new friend. He had never expected communication with others would come so easy to him, as he had never had to talk with anyone other than his parents.

Fortenbras re-arranged his cloak, wrapping it tightly around him, as finally he found himself looking at a red sign with a Rearing Stallion, with the words 'Tavern' written across the board. He sighed with relief at the thought of food that would be in front of him in just moments.

"This place will do just fine."

He hurried over to the doors, not even glancing back to see if Talos followed, eager for the long awaited filling of his ravenous stomach; stumbling through, the Vizerian made a prayer to Izurdin, that of gratitude.
