Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Season of Winter, Day 18, 513 AV
Location: Castle Commons

No matter how many times someone says something contrary to this fact, it makes it no less true: a thief's work is difficult. Not to even include all of the physical challenges they face to accomplish their tasks, the mental ones are what really break them down. There is a constant stress in being caught and having their asses handed to them on a silver platter by someone seeking revenge over their lost valuables. Also, what if they live in a poor area? There is rarely anything worth taking besides food which makes it difficult to even survive.

So why don't they just pick another profession... right? Well for some it's just not that easy. Not everyone is blessed with the skills of a blacksmith or the grace of a dancer, and not everyone has the luxury of a good education that can actually send them somewhere. Some of these thieves that so many people think aren't worth the dirt on the bottom of their boots are just simply people born into the misfortune of not having the essential needs of making themselves honorable in society.

Luckily some of these people have found a place where they belong; a place such as the wonderful city of anarchists: Sunberth. Young Miss Amora Jade was one of these unfortunate souls to be brought into the world and raised to do the only thing her mother could teach her to do, for neither of them were provided with an education or the finances to obtain one. Amora was raised into being a thief and she never really thought of even trying to do anything else with her life. There was some sort of unusual comfort she found in simply reaching her hand into the pocket of an unsuspecting fool.

Everyday she would sit and watch as the population of Sunberth walked around her, nearly completely unaware of her presence. Her favorite place to do so was the busy market of the Castle Commons. It was early when she had taken her place on one of the old wooden benches in the area, not many people had found their way onto the streets yet so it was easy to find a good seating place. It was only the beginning of the winter season but Amora could already feel the freezing clutch of the crisp air. It stung as she took in each breath and made her hate the season even more with each passing moment.

As time passed people began to flood the area and create good cover for a thief such as herself to escape into after grabbing a thing or two from a market stand. After sitting there for so long and nearly freezing herself to the bench, Amora decided it'd be a good idea to get up and earn herself a little meal. She made her way through the crowd, as swiftly as her clumsy self could, to a food stand just a few yards from where she had been parked. Quickly, and without thought, she snatched some bread and fruit from the stand and tried to bury herself in the mass of bodies again before she was noticed.

Unfortunately, and like many times before, it didn't end up the way she planned. Instead of gracefully blending in with the others, she tripped over someone's foot and dropped her goods. The small commotion she caused from falling was enough to attract the attention of the stall owner and the guard he had hired to help keep thieves such as herself away.

"Hey! You filthy no-good thief! You stole that from me!" The old man was furious and pointed his shaky finger at the girl still laying on the ground. He looked at the huge muscular man he had hired, "What the hell do I pay you for? Get her!" The old man pulled out his own sword and walked towards her at the side of his body guard. He should have known better than to leave his stall completely unattended, because as soon as they both walked away more people began to take food and run.

The brawny mercenary picked Amora up by the back of her shirt and brought her up to face-level with himself, her feet dangled above the ground at about 18 inches. "You no s'posed to take things that no belong to ya!" His breath was wretched and he spat as he talked, nearly all of his teeth were missing and the few that remained were rotten to the core.

Amora flinched away and kicked him as hard as she could, being sure to hold on to his arm behind her head so that her shirt wouldn't choke her. "Let me go! You can have the damn food back!"

"I don't want that food back after your filthy hands done been all over it!" The old man screamed up at her and put his sword up to her stomach. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't spill your guts all over the ground right now!"

A crowd had formed to watch the show, though they kept their distance. That was just what Amora needed - an embarrassing death.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on February 4th, 2014, 8:06 pm

Sunberth was a city built on the principle of survival. The locals fought to live each day, taking down anyone that stood in their path just to ensure they had a decent meal and bed at the end of the day. It was a dog eat dog world out on the streets and any street rat worth his crusts of bread knew when to be where and the signs that told you to change the routine up a bit. This was one of the main reasons Eleazar having wondered so far from his normal playground by the seaside market. The others being too many people recognising his face as trouble and ordering out their hired muscle to be on the ready. Tch, typical merchants. As a result the pickings had slimmed down in the past week or so, leading to the thief to be wondering around the gated community at the early bells of the middle of the day hoping for some better luck.

Scanning around the passing the crowds, her noted that most of the market goers were heavily wrapped up against the cold. Money bags and valuables were shielded by three layers of fabric at least, from his sticky fingers pocket picking, much to Eleazar's annoyance. It didn't look like there was much to be had here either. Frowning the teen was about to move on to another area when a sudden disturbance in the crowd caught his attention. Whatever was happening it was drawing in quite the crowd. Craning his head over the gathering mass of bodies, the six foot tall teen managed to get a fairly decent view of the scene.

In the middle of the mob of people was an old merchant and his shyke faced guard lofting a woman clean off the ground by her shirt. Judging by what was being shouted at the lady, she had attempted to steal some of the merchant's wares but had obviously failed doing so. Oh pick on someone your own size you pigs. Heck she even said she would give ya back the food. Pale eyes widening in concern as the scene escalated. It was as the man drew out his sword that Eleazar made the decision to intervene. He had always been a sucker for a pretty face, a hater of the those that wield weapons and a trouble maker for the merchants.

Dancing quickly around the edge of the crowd, he made it to an abandoned stall, probably the white bearded sword waving fool's. A group of smart street urchins were already stripping the thing of it's goods, taking full advantage of the distraction. Pocketing a few pieces of sweet smelling honey coated bread from the stall, the thief wrapped his long fingers around one of the sizeable bricks used to weigh down the fabric sides of the stand. Lofting the thing up, Eleazar focused his mind on his target. If he was quick, he could knock out the old man and then distract the guard, letting the girl have a chance to make a runner.

Breathing deeply, the dark haired eighteen year old leant forward onto the balls of his feet, weapon clutched in both hands. As the merchant aimed a jab of the sword towards the girl's stomach, the thief sprung off his feet. Heart pounding, lungs heaving, his little sprint sent him over the short distance faster than most would expect aided by his long legs. Adrenaline leaving the bitter taste of tin in his mouth Eleazar slammed down his left foot behind the merchant then pirouetted around on the foot. Raising his arms and using his rotatory momentum the skinny twig of a lad sent the brick slamming into the wrinkled face of the stall owner. It was only once a connection had hit, that he realised he had been going to fast and the brick had hit too hard.

A loud crack resounded along with a collective gasp of those watching were the only sounds that made it though the pounding beat of blood pumping around Eleazar's head. Dropping his sword to the ground, the old man's body swayed slightly, eyes distant and neck jarred before falling backwards. The sight wasn't a pretty one. The wrinkled head had cracked over like a egg as the red life water pooling onto the ground. The rest of the body was lax, lying exactly where it had collapsed.

The realization of what he had done just happened hit the thief only a few ticks later. Losing track of his breathing the bloodied brick slid from his trembling hands on to the frozen earth below. He had just killed someone. His stomach began to do flips with in itself as all colour drifted away from the paled eyed lad's face. He had just killed someone. Not like he haven't done it before, a few bastards that had had it coming but he had just killed someone. Right now. Right here. In front of a crowd. Bulging frightened eyes scanning the crowd were only met with looks of horror or disgust. Murder may have been common place in Sunberth but it rarely happened in broad daylight out on the open streets.

“Oh shyke.” Those were only two words that dared leave the teen's lips in that moment. A loud thud behind him sent his body spinning around only to see that the woman had been released from the guard's hold. Well at least that part of the plan had worked. Now to deal with the angry wall of muscle advancing on him.

OOCSorry for the wait. :)

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on February 9th, 2014, 5:16 am

Amora shut her eyes tightly when she saw the old man pull his sword back to be able to lunge it forward into the girl’s body. She began to run through memories, thinking of how little she had actually accomplished. The thief began to think of some of the ambitions she had. Never did she want to be a hard worker, always to be a thief, but she did want to be larger. She dreamed of being the most well-known thief in all of Sunberth someday, maybe even the entire Sylira region.

Normally one would think a thief would not want her name to be known, but being known could get her clients. Sure, she would have less luck when trying to pick the pockets of people she might pass on the streets, but why would she need to do that if people were paying her to ‘obtain’ certain items? That kind of work was the kind she could actually imagine herself doing. Not only would she get the thrill and satisfaction of stealing from people who couldn’t protect their items well enough, but someone would actually be paying her to do it!

Amora dreamed of having enough miza to have a home for her mother and herself built from the ground up. She dreamed it would be the largest house of all of Mizahar, and that all of the creatures who roamed the land would be too afraid to try and steal from it. Oh and how she craved the blessing of the goddesses she worshiped. Having the mark of both Akajia and Yshul would be an enormous confidence booster. There would be no way she would let them down.

The thief’s thoughts were interrupted by a stomach-churning crack. Her eyes snapped open as the brute mercenary’s grasp was loosened and she fell to the ground. The lifeless body and her own hit the dirt at the same time. Amora scanned the bloodied old man- his head was cracked wide open and blood was flowing from it in a stream. The crimson pool was becoming larger by the tick, making its way towards the girl’s feet.

Amora scooted away a foot or two to keep herself from the mess. It took her a long moment before she had the courage to look up at the person who brought the death. Once she set her eyes on him, she became a bit confused. He wasn’t what she was expecting at all. This wasn’t the first time someone had seen her about to be murdered over taking something that didn’t necessarily belong to her and saved her life, but the men in the past were always large and looked very intimidating. They had only saved her in hope that it would be enough to cloud her judgement to bed with them.

This one was young, and small. He didn’t look like someone who would risk his life to save someone; he looked like more of the type who would run from the danger. Maybe that was just from his lack of a look of brute strength that she thought that way, because obviously he was able to handle himself.

Normally a death like this would anger her. Amora felt that even if they were threatening her life, no one really deserved to be murdered. Unless the murderer planned on eating his kill, anyway. Although it was completely against the small amount of moral-code she had, she couldn’t help but feel relieved. She was about to lose any opportunity to fulfill her dreams over bread and fruit. Bread. And. Fruit. Definitely not worth it.

Amora observed the boy who saved her life for only a few moments before she saw the hired brute moving towards him. It was the perfect opportunity for her to run, his attention had shifted and she was in the clear. Quickly, the thief scrambled onto her feet and began to scamper away. Not yet had she even taken three steps before she stopped cold in her tracks.

I can’t just let him be killed too… one death in the commons is enough for one day.” A slight sigh escaped her lips as she turned to face the scene once more. Amora noticed the mercenary had a large, double headed ax dangling from a holster attached to his waist. Even just stripping the brute of his weapon would be of some help to the boy.

The girl sneaked up behind the angered man and grabbed hold of the weapon, then pulled it free of its clasp. Amora pulled away quickly and turned to run, but found herself stuck. The ax was much heavier than she anticipated so instead of making a quick and clean get-away, the was anchored by its weight. The thud it made on the dirt was enough to attract the mercenary’s attention.

The girl dropped the handle of the weapon immediately and put her hands up in a surrendering manner, pasting an innocent and ‘I’m sorry’ kind of smile on her face. The grunt and mean expression combination that she received in return was enough for her to get moving. Amora ran in the direction of the boy and shoved him as extra motivation to get him to run too.

Come on!” The thief ran for her life as fast as she could from the commons, making her way towards a maze of buildings she was sure she could lose the brute in.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on February 24th, 2014, 7:03 pm

Things being as they were Eleazar had completely forgotten about the woman he had been bravely saving, barely a few chimes ago. In truth he had forgotten about anything which didn't include the very cross guard standing in front of him. A broad shouldered man, balding at the front of his ponytailed rusted iron colour hair. Shorter than the skinny thief by a thumb width even as the smaller of the two, the man was still able to glared the thief down where he stood. Knees quaking beneath him, Eleazar felt a lump of dread fall like ice down his spine.

Lumbering forward, no one dared stop the enraged guard as he stalked nearer to the terrified murderer. Shrinking back, Eleazar wondered out of all his near misses this would be the one that would be his undoing. Each step backwards was matched with two steps forward, driving the teen back nearer to the abandoned stall. The streets rat's that had been there had done the sensible thing and scampered away the moment the old man's head had split open. No one was going to help him; no one was going to save him.

Closing his eyes and readying himself for a painful demise, the thief only dared open them again when the sound of heavy metal on hard earth reached his ears. Stood there was the clumsy girl who had been caught stealing, she should have been running away as far as she could by now. But instead she was looking apologetically at the lump of muscle whose attention had shifted once again.

Shocked and relieved at the same time by this fact, Eleazar's brain almost dropped out his head because of the sensation of the two emotions mixing. Why hadn't she ran? Why hadn't she left him to die? Why was she trying to save him? Who the petch was she anyway? All the questions tugging at his mind would have been easily answered by the brunette hurtling towards him under different circumstances. Circumstances being as they were, the thief shut his questioning mind up and did as he had been told.

His legs had not too surprisingly become very good at running away from things over the years. Most of the times those things being angry foreigner, wrathful merchants or enraged walls of meat, at the current time only the latter of the three applied. Sprinting after the dark haired woman, Eleazar came to realise a few things. First off the woman had black hair not brown, it only appeared brown when the light went through it a certain way. Secondly said woman wasn't as used to running for her life as he was. Leading to thirdly, either is was his long legs giving him the advantage or his better ability to control his breath whilst dashing like a mad fool but he was pretty sure that, he was overtaking her.

Easing up to match her pace, the teen, not really thinking about it at the time with his mind more focused on staying in front of the man still pursuing them, thought now would be the best moment to have a conversation with the woman whose life he had saved.

“Nah affence mi lady, but ya are insane. Why the petch did you try ta rescue me? Actually don't answer 'at. It don't matter. Em Eleazar by 'e way. Eleazar Victor Syroin. 'Anks for savin' mi life, gorgeous.”

Babbling on in his normal honest manner, the thief kept a close eye on where they were heading. After exiting the commons, the streets had become more familiar to him. Now running from the guard in his home territory, the teen felt a lot more confident. Looking over at his partner in crime, he stretched out a hand to her, grinning like the cat that stole the cream.

“'Oi, do ya trust me?”

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on March 2nd, 2014, 3:38 am

It was a relief that the boy simply did as he was told without hesitating too much. Amora didn’t want the thought on her mind that someone lost his life over saving hers, it would eat at her conscious until it drove her crazy. She ran as fast as she could away from the scene, though she hadn’t the ability to control the pace of her breath and her steps very well. It was something you would think a thief who’s only philosophy of getting out of trouble was to run would be second nature to her, but it wasn’t. She always found herself fortunate enough to be able to find a good place for hiding or to blend into a crowd. Had that huge ordeal not gone down, the mercenary would not have had a good enough look at her face to point her out of a crowd.

An unfortunate mishap that she swore to herself she’d never let happen again over and over. How could she had been so careless? So clumsy? Had she just watched her step she would have gotten away clean with enough food to last the entire day, maybe two.

Still got the food though!” At least something would come out of this day in the end.. well if they made it out alive that is. She would be sure to offer him food for his generous help, considering that wasn’t a common occurrence in Sunberth.

Amora snapped away from her thoughts when she noticed how much faster the boy was than her, it was almost embarrassing. Not only was it bad enough that he easily was able to keep his distance in front of her, but he actually slowed down to give thief company.

Oh gods…” The embarrassment would have turned her face pink had it not already been that way from running with all her might. Amora almost felt like she was out-of-shape compared to the boy who had saved her, and then she saved.

She almost wanted to laugh when he called her insane, but then he kept talking, “Em Eleazar by 'e way. Eleazar Victor Syroin. 'Anks for savin' mi life, gorgeous.” Amora rolled her eyes, this really wasn’t the time for conversation, yet he thought she was insane? The thief looked behind them, only to notice the brute was beginning to catch up.

“'Oi, do ya trust me?” How foolish a question? Why on Mizahar would she trust someone she just found out the name of?

No!” Of course she didn’t trust him, but something about that grin made her want to, it seemed familiar to her in a way. Hell, it almost made her want to laugh.

The girl looked behind her once more and became frightened by the space the mercenary had covered in the short time from before, “Oh petch it..” She gave him her hand and hoped for nothing insane. As long as he got them out of the way of the brute she’d be happy.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on March 30th, 2014, 9:43 pm

Eleazar nearly burst out laughing when the woman made a face at his question and screamed out the obvious answer. Sensible girl, Sunberth wasn't kind to those that trusted easily. Contemplating giving her a pout, the thief didn't get a chance to come to an answer before her hand met his. And a hand was all he needed. Breaking into manic cackling, he sped up tightening his hold on her. He knew where he was going now, years of running down these streets helping him learn every nook, cranny and wood louse eaten hole available to aid in his escape.

With the increased speed of the pair, the guard slowly lost ground with each peek over the shoulder the teen dare take. He probably should have been keeping a better eye on his partner in crimes condition but for the moment, the teen's mind was only focused on their destination. The next alley way coming up on the left. Switching which hand held the lady thief's, Eleazar sneaked an arm around her waist bring her in close as they neared the turn. No harm in taking life up on the chances it gives you, besides which she would be safer like this.

Not easing up in the slightest, the teen threw his body at the alley at the last tick, pivoting around on a scrawny leg before disappearing away from the main street. Behind him, Eleazar heard the guard continue to storm down the main street, footsteps blocked out by the steady thump of blood surging through his brain from the exertion. It wouldn't take long before the thug back tracked and was after them again but for now they had a little more time to play with. Glancing up the thief, ran mentally through what he needed to do before throwing the final stages of the ragtag plan into action.

Moving quickly Eleazar carefully weaved past the woman and spirited ahead at his full speed. His own feet skidding of the small weeds growing on the path as he reached the end of the alley, Eleazar slid around to face away as his shoulders slammed into the wall behind him. The wall was actually the back of a house, standing perhaps just under a dozen foot in height. Eleazar had never really had time to bother giving it a proper estimate and he wasn't about to today either.

Bouncing forward off the wall, he quickly slapped his hands together, interlacing his fingers. Bent over he was now in the perfect position to give his co-criminal a boast up on to the roof. It would work perfectly. Assuming his stick thin frame supported her weight long enough for her to reach the edge of the roof. Ignoring his lingering doubts, the dark haired thief simply cocked his head to the side locking eyes with the woman.

“Ladies first, mi dear.”

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on May 7th, 2014, 2:59 am

The cackling that escaped the male’s throat made Amora worry a bit about her decision to accept his aid. The thief was taking a huge risk with this boy, she had no idea who he really was or what he would do after they escape the situation. Then again, he was pretty lanky. The girl might actually be able to hold her own against him if she ever needed to, at least she wouldn’t be facing the brute that was chasing them.

The grip Eleazar had on her hand was tightened significantly as they sped up. At first the force of the pulling made her stumble to keep on her feet, but after a few steps she figured out how to let his force keep her up and moving. Instead of her movement being the incredibly fast running strides the boy was taking, it was more like leaping. There was no way she would be able to command her legs and feet to move that quickly.

Amora recognized where they were almost immediately, she had stalked these streets her entire life for an easy pocket or two to plunder. At least she’d know where she was once they decide to part ways. A slight glance over her shoulder revealed the distance the boy had created between themselves and the brute that was after them. The girl wanted to sigh in relief but found herself extremely short of breath.

She began to inhale frantically, causing her throat and nose to burn and her side to hurt terribly. All the thief could think to do was to keep running and hope the pain would go away once they stopped. Each step they took made the agony worse and cut her breath even shorter.

The boy’s repositioned hand would normally have sent a bit of rage through her, but considering the situation she was willing to let him lead her anywhere safe however he needed to do it. Plus it would be a huge relief to finally be able to stop leaping through the streets and actually be able to breathe again. There was no way she would be able to keep on like that for too much longer. The thief could only hope the mercenary had lost track of the pair during the chase.

As they rounded the corner and entered the alleyway Amora felt as if her body had become jelly. It was difficult for her to keep on her feet anymore and the sonic booming of her own heartbeat surging through her head and ears made it impossible to hear more than a whisper. Once the boy let her go the girl immediately bent over and supported herself by putting her hands on her knees while she watched Eleazar run to the end of the alley.

Although she couldn’t really hear what he said, she had a pretty good idea of what he wanted her to do. The black haired girl groaned as she realized that it would require more running to be able to be vaulted to the top of the tall house the boy was leaning on. In a messy fashion she began to start herself into the best run she could possibly pull out of herself. Amora couldn’t make her legs move very quickly at all, at that point they felt like bricks. Once she approached the boy she put her right foot into his hand and let him help her get as high as she could to just be able to grab onto the edge of the roof.

Oh come on.. I can’t be that heavy.” Luckily she still had the strength to pull herself up high enough to sling her leg onto the roof and roll onto it. She was almost going to just lay there and enjoy the lack of movement but realized that she should probably help her partner get up there as well. The thief laid on her belly and reached both hands off the side of the building. The scrawniness of the boy would work in her favor as he grabbed onto her wrists and she helped him up.

Once he joined her on the roof Amora laid on her back and reached her arms above her head to try to concentrate on steadying her breath. Her heart still was beating in her ears and it felt as if it were about to jump right out of her chest.

After a moment she swallowed hard and laughed a bit, “Hell, if he doesn’t kill me, you sure will.

The pain in her side and the burning of her nose and throat were still very prominent, but it could be worse...

OOCI really didn’t even realize how long it had been since I gave you a reply and I’m so sorry! Lots of stuff going on here!

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on May 30th, 2014, 8:31 pm

The moment her foot connected with his hands, Eleazar knew he had made a mistake. Trying desperately to not fall over, he grit his teeth against the burn of his arms fighting gravity, thin muscles straining desperately. He could feel every joint above waist level painfully pop and groan as gave his partner a boast up. Luckily for them both, the ledge was low down enough for the woman to reach, relieving him of her weight as she pulled her self over the edge to safety. Limbs thankfully still attached to his shoulders, the teen wiggled and rubbed at his hands to confirm they still worked before looking up to see if his partner was going to be kind enough to return the favour.

An exhausted face looked down on him before reaching out her hands for his. Slipping long fingers around the woman's wrists, Eleazar used her to brace his weight as he half walked half climbed up the wall with his legs. Crashing onto the roof beside the brunette, he didn't dare move for the next few chimes. They were safe for now, the guard wasn't getting up here in anyway at least not on his own. All the adrenaline from the chase slowly left his body, leaving a mouth tasting of tin and leaden limbs in it's absence. Breathing becoming heavier, the teen scrunched his eyes closed as his head pounded with rush of blood.

A few chimes went by with neither of them moving save to rasp pathetically in the cool air. This was broken by the woman's merry laugh and joking remark, spurring on laughs to echo out of Eleazar's mouth.

“Sorry, mi Lady. 'Ought all 'ieves could run like 'e clappers when 'ey need ta.”

Soft eyes slowly peered behind dirt covered eyelids as his breathing settled into an unnaturally deep but regular pattern. Groaning he slowly pushed himself up to a sitting position, shoulders and knees creaking in protest. Hands fumbling about his pockets produced three pieces of honey coated bread that he had snatched in the market before leaping in to the 'rescue'. They were covered in odd pieces of fluff, dirt and what ever else had been hiding in his pockets at the time. Carefully picking the filth off them, Eleazar placed the least dirty in the woman's limp hand, then set about stuffing his own hungry maw with the other two before anything else happened. The sweet taste of honey certainly improved his mood as the bread eased his growling stomach.

Mouth full of his snack, Eleazar almost choked when his eyes caught a hold of their pursuer glaring up at the pair from the opening of the alleyway. He had obviously had to back tracked to find them, thick chest hauling in and expelling air vigorously. Seem that out of the three of them, he was the only one that found himself running for his life on a regular basis. It was funny how that didn't seem to make him feel better in the slightest. Swallowing his mouthful, the thief eyed the thug carefully as he wandered part way down the alley towards them, axe in hand again.

“Oi! Get down 'ere ya cowardly punks. You owe me for what ya did. T'is the Law o' the streets, an eye fer an eye, a 'and fer a 'and.... a life fer a life. Ya owe meh.”

Despite the threat, Eleazar wasn't too worried. The man was too short and stubby to get them up here the most he could do from down there would be throw things at them and curse out their mothers. So confident was he at this, the teen dared to give the man a wave and a grin before cheerfully calling out to him, hands out wide as a sign of sarcastic openness.

“Nah our problem. T'wasn't yer life or yer hand or eye 'at ay took. We owe ya no'in'.”

“Cheeky brat.”

“At yer pleasure, sir.”

His last set of words had barely hit the air when the guard hauled back his arm. Confidence washing away like mud of a rainy day as one muscular tree trunk of an arm posed ready, an axe blade as big as a pig's head in the eager hand. A quick motion sent the weapon tumbling air borne at the pair of thieves accompanied by the hefty grunt of the guard. Well shyke. Why hadn't he just kept his big mouth closed1?

OOCI think we are both as bad as each other with reply times to be honest. PM me if you think I'm controlling the guard or the situation to much. Feel free to mod Elea as you wish.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on August 14th, 2014, 7:57 pm

The sting in her throat from inhaling the freezing air and the beating in her ears began to subside as her breathing settled into a normal pace. Amora didn’t even feel the tasty treat that was put in her hand, due to it being half numb, until she decided to sit up. After closing her hand a bit and smushing the food she noticed its presence and quickly scarfed it down. The sweet honey that covered the bread put a warm feeling in her stomach that she missed. It had been awhile since she had eaten any sort of sweet, normally she just stuck to eating soups and plain bread chased by ale.

The small comforting feeling the food gave her was washed away when the sight of their pursuer caught her eye. He had actually found them again, something she really hadn’t expected. Amora was sure they had lost him and he would continue to run forward searching for them rather than be smart enough to backtrack.

Oi! Get down 'ere ya cowardly punks. You owe me for what ya did. T'is the Law o' the streets, an eye fer an eye, a 'and fer a 'and.... a life fer a life. Ya owe meh.

Amora stared down at the brute with a mocking-yet-fearful kind of way. There was no way he’d be able to get to them; not without help at least. For now she felt safe from danger and was able to laugh along with Eleazar as he mocked the poor shmuck.

“Nah our problem. T'wasn't yer life or yer hand or eye 'at ay took. We owe ya no'in'.”

Cheeky brat.

“At yer pleasure, sir.”

Sarcasm had to be Amora’s favorite kind of humor. It was rude and obnoxious but always made her laugh. The thief was about to add to her partner’s remarks when she saw the blade side of a huge axe coming right at them.

Quickly she leaned over to her right in an attempt to dodge the weapon. She was only able to move fast enough to avoid any fatal damage, but was still hit. The blade ripped through her wool coat and slit the skin underneath about half of an inch deep before the axe continued to sail through the air and launch itself into the wooden planks of the roof they sat on.

Amora had thought the weapon had bypassed her without making contact; she didn’t even feel the wound due to the adrenaline from running still surging through her blood and the freezing air that numbed her skin. It wasn’t until a bit of the warm liquid began to trickle down her arm under the sleeve of her coat and defrost her skin that she realized she had been hit. Instinctively she used her right hand to feel the wound on her left shoulder to assess the damage.

The thief gritted her teeth in pain and anger, then looked down at their pursuer, “You petching bastard!

Amora quickly stood up and looked around for something to throw down at him, but all of the rocks were on the ground and there hadn’t been enough snowfall yet for her to use that either. The brute laughed at the thief began to try to pull the weapon from the wood.

She looked back at the boy her helped her, forgetting completely that he could be injured as well. “Well, you gonna help me or what?

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Eyes the size of saucers as the weapon shot towards them, Eleazar's body reacted on it's own. Dropping down as fast as he could, the teen felt the wooden handle bounce off his brow just before the base of his skull connected with roof. Hands immediately flew to the area, applying pressure as he writhed about carefully on the shallow sloping roof. Now that really hurt and the vagik had got his face as well. Tentatively moving a hand away from his head, fingertips lightly assessed the injury. It was swelling up, that much was certain, right above his right eye too. Blinking open the green orbs, pain bloomed along his brow forcing him to close one. Shyke, one eye down and stuck on a roof.

The little nerve he had was beginning began to fray as his breathing hitched softly in his throat. Note to self, don't ever taunt an armed man. It can get you killed. Trying to calmly assess the situation, Eleazar nearly jumped out of his skin at his companions sudden out burst. Okay, down one eye on a roof with an angry woman. Great. Hearing the wooden support creak under them as she stood, Eleazar slowly sat up, still rubbing at the new lump forming on his head. The sight of her tugging at the axe and trying to get him to help her, made his stomach plummet. It was at this point, with you pursuer unable to attack or chase you, that you got as far out their sight as possible. You didn't start faffing about with axes lodged into roofs.

“'Elp you!? We should be makin' our escape! No dallying aboot wi' an 'xe.”

His tone was angry and confused, almost accusing. Desperately trying to fight the instinct to just run and leave her on the roof, the teen clumsily got to his feet. Why did she think that the axe would help? Didn't she feel the need to just run? That cowardly crawling in your gut that kept to alive and out of harm's way. Was this something unique to him? Glancing quickly back to the owner of the weapon, the teen had only just registered the running figure when it leapt hand slapping a foot or so below the edge of the roof. Yikes. Moving closer to the woman and away from the edge of the roof, creaks and groans moved about the roof with each step taken.

“Petch it.”

Steeling his self, Eleazar turned and slapped his hands around the shaft and dug his feet in as he hauled. Come one budge. Muttering curses under his breath, the brunette stretched his long legs to try and get so more leverage. His face flushed scarlet with the strain in his twiggy thin arms, knuckles burning white. Slick with sweat, dirty, long fingers slid up to meet his partner-in-crime's as the wood's hold on the axe began is loosen slightly. Teeth gritted as he felt fatigue creep in on him, his unswollen eye tried to glare holes in the ruddy thing as his mouth made a rough quip to his partner.

“Please, fer 'e luv 'o mizas, tell mi yer no gonna chuck it back tae him fer ano'er shot at us.”
