The Divide. While not properly named as such, there are no other words to describe the gates that bar the unauthorized from entering the Pavilléon. While by no means imposing, they seem to exude a powerful presence, as if the work of deep magic is had in them. This is no mere impression. The Divide is shielded against entry by the unauthorized, a guard posted at all times at each of the two buildings that hug the gates and round out the Divide. These buildings are small, elaborately decorated stations for both guards and patrons intending to enter the Pavilléon alike, each one fitted with a latched door with chutes that feed into an underground vault. Guarded around the clock and fitted with solicited magical protection, the Divide is the picturesque gate that both divides the social classes in Kenash and the physical boundary that keeps those unwilling to part from their wealth from entering the Pavilléon. The gates shine with the sheen of fresh paint, perpetually shielded from exposure. It withstands the elements, trespassers and is the first impression that patrons of the Pavilléon encounter before admitted, and it does not disappoint. Like the rest of the Pavilléon, the gates change with the season, though the thick painted steel leaves remain. Flowers that shift with the season cloak the leaves, patterns woven in and about the shielded surface. The theme changes in the dead of night just before the flaring of the Watchtowers, the pattern occuring as follows.
Spring Black-clad steel leaves are complemented by vibrant grapevines that settle upon the surface of the gates. Wine-coloured flower petals adorn the floor, lanterns illuminating it when night falls. Changing of the flowers occurs every eight days, the vines replaced every three days to maintain the freshness of the fruit that complete the facade. Behind the gates, two small fountains cycle wine into basins, a permanent irrigation system set just for the Spring season, for when the Watchtowers end, the fountains are stowed away. The birds upon the fence in this season are robins.
Summer As the summer broils in Kenash, the black gates are caressed with tones of fire. Thorned red roses bloom upon the gates, vines intricately woven along the bars and downward, green spilling onto the floor. The flowers are changed every pair of days, and in addition, the gates are adorned with a tapestry of silk cloth with is tied around each gate in turn to create two scarf-like drapes that tie around each half of the gate in turn. The silk is cleaned and patched with each changing of the flowers, though nothing is done to remove the petals, merely the thorns are removed. The birds upon the fence in this season are jays.
Autumn As the summer heat fades slightly and bows to the call of autumn, the black gates are fitted with flowers, though vines are no longer seen upon the surface. Dahlias replace the rose plants, arranged as wreaths that are placed just below the metallic fowlers that take residence upon the crown of each leaf configuration. The wreaths are replaced daily, though rather than being discarded immediately, the wreaths move to decorate the adjacent buildings, instead. They are kept there until their third day of exposure and subsequently discarded.
Winter As the season turns to Winter and the city of Kenash experiences its one true, cool season, the flowers turn to lavender. Beautiful shoots of lavender are tied to one another, woven into the framework of the gates. The arrangement is replaced every fifteen days.

The Pavilléon is incredibly exclusive, though this exclusivity is not dictated by Freeborn, Dynasty, or even by visitor (lack of)Visitors who enter the Pavilléon are still subject to the thirty day rule and cannot overcome this by entering the sanctum that is the Pavilléon. Though the lack of a brand or Dynasty status will not bar one from entry, all of the prejudice and dangers of visiting Kenash without suffering the brand remain within the Pavilléon. status. Wealth is the only thing that prevents whomever desires to find themselves in the Pavilléon from entering, though the toll to enter is heavy. There is a tarrif of 100GM to enter the Pavilléon (for non-residents of Kenash), and a minimum of 1000 (including the tariff) to be allowed to participate in the pleasures stored within. Of course, mizas are not carried inside, as all currency brought to the Divide is exchanged, funneled into the vault and instead replaced with chips, each one of which is valued at 10GM, but only within the Pavilléon. One can rent a slave to carry one's chips for them, at the price of a single chip per day, which is not paid until the end of one's stay in the Pavilléon. |
