As Airil continued to think, she realized that this stranger, whose name she didn't even know, reminded her strongly of the man who had first bought and then freed her. Though Rhuryc was a little gruffer, he was still helping her.
It had taken her time to start trusting, to absorb the fact that her freedom hadn't been some trick. Now it seemed that she was trusting too easily but at the same time she didn't know who she should be trusting.
She needed someone to show her. She just didn't operate well when left on her own.
What was the point of being free when you didn't know what to do with it?
“No,” she hesitated then added, “not recently.” Then she started to wonder if he'd only meant right outside the walls but it didn't matter. She'd already answered.
She was surprised when Rhuryc pointed out their destination. Despite the twisted route, it hadn't taken long at all. She'd been wandering around lost longer than that. It also came as a bit of a shock to her when she realized that she was feeling a little disappointed.
"Uhm.. thank you." She started to fret. She didn't know what to call him. Had he told her his name? Had she forgotten so quickly?
