50th Day of Fall 514 AV

There was nothing like the slow transformation of summer into winter. Wherever she had been in her life, Enthere had always been able to tell the shift of seasons by the whispering winds and pale sky. In Zeltiva, she'd found, the sea was also pale. Reflecting the faded empyrean. The sea fascinated Enthere any day, but the strangeness of the sea entranced her particularly with the changing seasons. How could this autumn sea, that birthed the strange serpent beasts, be the same expanse as the warm summer sea of such few weeks ago? Enthere pondered this as she perched on a jumble of rocks overlooking the beach. She was in her human form, trying to be inconspicuous, but wanting very badly to run out and play in the salty water. She hadn't played in the water for years, and the sea...it was not at all like the glittering streams and deep lakes of her childhood. The sea was....wild and untamed in a loud, boisterous way, defying its very banks with harsh waves.

Slowly Enthere climbed from her perch, slinking nearer to the water. It was still early in the day and there were few people about the beach yet. Especially so far from the docks. It was unlikely anyone would notice a large cat having a quiet romp on the beach....The Kelvic finally ducked out of her clothes, leaving them as a crumpled pile among the rocks. They blended in with their fine covering of dirt and sand. Hopefully she would be able to find them again. Enthere leaped into the froth, changing in one moment from a dirty young woman to a gleeful cougar.

Salt spray soaked her legs and underbelly, occasionally dashing up to wet her face. The cougar charged through the gloriously cold water, frolicking in the shallow waves. The fresh salty tang of the bay no longer assaulted her nose; she had gradually grown used to the strong scents that were companion to the sea. She ran through the wavelets, making large splashes and enjoying herself profusely. It was about a half bell later when she found herself a long ways down the beach. She should go back, actually she should leave the beach. But she hadn't had all her fun yet, and she didn't think anyone had noticed her yet. Besides, a lone cougar on the beach wasn't nearly as strange as Iyvess popping out of the water in numbers. Enthere slowed to a stop, turning away from Zeltiva to head away from port.

Seashore Shenanigans

Alarin lay back on the beach, listening to music of the sea. It was what he often did when he had free time. He'd just walk along the beach until he was alone and then just listened.

There was a troupe of musicians within it. It was obvious to see, or rather, to hear. There were drums pounding against the seashore, and flute's in the wind and waves. Seagulls sang in their, to be polite, off-key voices. What lacked was a harp, and that was the instrument he could play. Where was his place at sea if the instrument that had bound his heart in string was not present? Perhaps that was what pulled him to Zeltiva rather than out on the Suvan sea.

Footsteps pounded in the sand nearby, coming closer, and he raised himself to one elbow, left eyebrow raised. Was..that a giant cat? It was. Alarin shook his head in surprise. Oh. Of course it was. A Kelvic.

Water lapped at his bare feet, and he paused to study to the swirling dance of foam at his feet. A pity he couldn't dance like that. That would cause a stir in quite a few places, catch quite a few eyes, all sorts of lovely results.

Alarin picked himself completely off and brushed the sand off of his trousers, and then stood, and sauntered towards the Kelvic.

"A fair greeting to you!" He called out, pausing a safe distance away. No need to take too much of a risk here. He wasn't very familiar with Kelvics, except their shape-shifting abilities.

"A fair greeting to you!"

The words rang across the beach, Enthere, not realizing there was a person so near on the beach, quickly turned herself away in a flurry of paws skidding on sand. She wasn't afraid exactly, she just wasn't feeling as brave as she thought she was today. There was one problem though, there were many more people on the beach now, and the friendly man in the sand was in the direction with little people, where she wanted to go. Enthere slowly turned back, getting a good look at the man for the first time. The man had a very sailor-like appearance, with well-tanned skin and wind-blown brown hair. His appearance gave the impression that he was, well, a sailor. He was also still coming towards her.

The Kelvic remained a safe distance from the man, both for her benifit and his. She stood up straight on her four stout legs and gave a very human-like nod in greeting. The man really wasn't very intimidating, and she found she was feeling more relaxed again.

Seashore Shenanigans

Alarin paused as the Kelvic turned to leave, but then paused and turned back around, seeming confused. Ah, so apparently company was not what the individual sought here on the beach. That was understandable. Nothing quite like folk ignorant of the true beauty of the beach to ruin a day. He'd had that happen before. The Kelvic stood, and nodded in greeting. That was a surprise. He hadn't realized they could do that.

He bowed with a flourish, stepping back with one foot and bringing his right hand ahead of him in a curve. Elegant, flashy, and not at all meant for a chance meeting on a beach. Not that it mattered overmuch to him. He acted by what felt right. Well, not right. Dramatic. Practical? Not even by a long shot. But if it had flair, it was right, especially if the consequences involved even more dramatic shenanigans. Anything that would make a good song.

"It is a pleasure to travel this beach on such a fine day as this, is it not?" He turned to gesture around to the sea and the gulls and the breeze. "Can you hear the music that surrounds us?" He flashed another grin, and spun around a little. He wasn't even drunk. Just alive. Completely and unabashedly alive. The sea was in his blood, the wind in his hair, and the smell of salt in his nose. Not suffocating within the depths and alleyways of the city, and wondering why the ground was all wrong before remembering it was ground and didn't move. Rather nauseating, to be honest, which he didn't plan on being in that situation. That would be disgraceful. Hardly a good thing for someone who was going to achieve such great heights as he.

"And forgive my manners. I am Alarin of the sea people, and lover of music in all its forms, except bad music."
