Rubbing at her shoulder she watched him move to the kitchen area to prepare a meal for her. It was a nice change from having to cook for herself. Of course she enjoyed cooking yet she could still find it a bother in times of laziness or tried bones. She could only smile at his clear doubt in his abilities, she guessed he was a fine cook. That only never been told because the lack of guest that he had been missing out on.
The heat from the stove wafted over her, causing her to close her eyes in enjoyment she let it warm her cheeks. She hadn't realized how cold it was and how chilled to the bone she had been until right than. Her cheeks staining a pink while she began the long process of warming her cool body. Her hair need the drying of the stove as well.
Moving her hands up along her head she released the curled and looped braid from her head. Allowing it to fall down her back reaching past her hip to the top of her backside. Moving the braid around she softly began to undo the looped pattern holding her hair in place. Keeping her fingers nimble and smooth through the hair she worked easily.
The ritual movements of her hands leaving her calm while she kept her eyes closed off to him. She felt easy about letting one of her senses go with him around. Somehow she felt protected with him there, a strange sense of togetherness playing on her mind between them. She knew that she would help him in her time of need as he would her; or at least she thought that's what he'd do. Her face held a polite smile that only graced her lips while going through her hair.
She could recall the days when she was little and the elderly people would braid her hair. Saying how lovely and curly it was, chanting over it gossiping how they wished they too could have hair such as she had. Letting her hair fall in the cascade of the lushes curls she opened her eyes again. That was before they'd known the secret her mother wanted to keep; or at least hoped wouldn't effect her daughters life.
John's movements were normal again to her, looking at the plate filled with the meat and fruit she took the silverware that was handed to her. Looking over what he had prepared she couldn't help but smile. It was a little on the rare side but she didn't mind it at all. She liked the taste of rare meat sometimes and tonight was no different.
"It looks good really," she smiled at him with reassurance. Digging in she began to cut her meat taking a bite of it she enjoyed the rich flavor of the juice against her taste buds. It was tender and rich in Vitim that she knew and she also knew that she could accept a home cooked meal anytime. Hearing his question she thought over what she knew how to cook.
Having been left to cook for most of her young life she knew bits and piece of how to make a good meal. Of course she wasn't as good as some might hope her to be, but she did know I thing or two about spices and seasonings. Looking to him she finished her bite before nodding a little.
"Yes, I know a thing or two here and there. Mind you nothing that great but enough to get by. My specialty if I had to say I had one is most likely fish. I'm good at making that, I guess of course that's because it's one of the main things I eat when I travel," she stated simply looking to her plate.
"It's easy to come by plus it helps to keep you on your feet out there," she smiled at him. Letting her knife and fork dip into the soft meat once more enjoying her conversation with him and his made dinner.
"I could help you out but I don't know if I could get you very far," she shrugged her shoulders. Her inky black hair falling over them while she chewed her meat looking around the room for the second time tonight. "You have a nice place, I wish I had one like this." Simple words yet never the more meaningful as her gaze moved back to him carefully.
