General Information Full Name: Saul Sticks Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 32 years Birthday: 90th of Spring, 482 AV Birthplace: Zeltiva Home: Syliras, Sylira Languages: Common (Fluent), Fratava (Basic), Shiber (Poor) Job: Laborer at the Great Harbor in Syliras Height: 6’ Weight: 200 lbs. Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Skin: Tan General Appearance: Over the years, Saul went from a scrawny child to a powerfully built man. This probably had quite a bit to do with his work on the docks loading and unloading heavy cargo. Some of it can also be attributed to his consistent work to strengthen his body. He works out and jogs every morning. This isn’t so much a conceited thing as it is another way to protect himself. A strong and healthy man is a harder man to hurt. Saul is a bitter man. As such, he doesn’t smile much but does tend to put on a good façade. If the situation requires, he can be pleasant and friendly, but this is usually only when it benefits him. |
History Saul Sticks was born the eldest of five children and the only one who seemed to be able to amount to anything, though what he amounted to wasn’t much. Still, he had a stable, respectable job as a laborer at the docks that he had held since he was twelve. The other children didn’t turn out as great as he did. Three of his siblings were whores, and only two of them were women. The last, the youngest of his brothers, Sam, was a drunk and a gambler and terrible at both. He was a father by the age of fourteen and was even worse at that than he was at gambling. It wasn’t surprising that the siblings turned out this way. Their mother was a whore, a drunk, and a gambler and good at none of them. Since Saul was the only one with consistent employment, he found himself providing for the family as he grew up. Even as his siblings became independent, they still came to him from time to time for monetary help. One day, his brother Sam brought his daughter to Saul, told his oldest brother he couldn’t provide for her anymore, and left the eight-year old girl with him. Sam had never given her a name, just called her wench, wretch, and the like. For Saul, that wouldn’t do. His niece was one of the few people he was fond of. He gave her a new name, Brat, and she loved it more than anything she had ever received in her life. Due to his constant provision for his relatives, Saul dubbed himself the patron saint of orphans, whores, and gamblers. He would have added drunks to the list, but he was one himself, when he had the money for it. Saul often tired of his siblings coming to him for money, but they were kin, and he refused to turn them away. Though he gave the outward appearance of being a respectable citizen, he was anything but. The world was cruel and unforgiving, and the only way to survive it was to look after yourself and yourself alone. This wasn’t something he learned. It was something he knew inherently, just by being born. At least, that’s what he thought, and he was certain everyone else knew this in one way or another. He had family to provide for, so he had dabbled in thievery and muggings when money got tight. He didn’t have much of a conscience and reasoned that most people had attained their money cheaply or immorally, and that was enough to justify his behavior.
Concept At the moment, Saul’s only concern is surviving and providing for himself and Brat. Anything else is just a secondary concern. His vices can sometimes make him lose sight of this, and on occasion, he’ll spend too much of the little money he has on drinks.
