24th of Spring, 515 AV
Mid-Morning
Touching a hand to the smooth stone of the Sanctuary’s walls, Aoren considered the work before him. Without hesitation he drew upon his djed pushing it outward to flow over the surface of the stone. It came easier to him than it had in the past. He knew the foundations of what he wanted to achieve which made the task simpler. As with the beginnings of his project he pushed enough djed outward to slide all the way up to the top most edge of the wall. When he had finished giving of himself to weave the rudimentary layer of protection over the wall he stepped back examining the Shield. The basic weave was relatively sound. It would serve its purpose well enough. The Drykas touched both hands to the djed willing the clumps of power to even themselves out. He spread the Shield over the wall as even as he could.
Block fire.
Absorb djed.
The two tasks that he had instilled in all of the Shields that he’d created. That was the extent of what he could presently do although he desired to do more. He’d attempted to piece in other tasks with his previous Shields but found that in doing his initial ones were overridden or the idea simply didn’t stick. Aoren knew that he had come a long ways in his abilities with Shielding but there was more yet that he needed to accomplish.
Nevertheless he was not disheartened. The work he did was merely laying the foundation for work that would follow over time. As with his other Shields he stepped over to the border between the Shield that he’d already erected and his newly created one. Reaching across the gap he added djed to the weave of both Shields bringing the two together. It was slow work that was taking many days to accomplish but the process of building the overall Shield in sections, then weaving them together to form a single seamless one was a safer route.
He examined the strength of his work closely before giving a satisfactory nod. While that particular facet of the Shield was complete there were other things he wanted to experiment with. He would have to do it on a smaller scale however. Making his way back through the Sanctuary he passed through the courtyards and down to the Within. Once there he made his way to his room going to where he kept his armor neatly awaiting the chance to be worn. Aoren ran a hand over the night leather. The black material was polished and reasonably well maintained. He took hold of the bracers picking them up. He had worn them several times since purchasing them back in the Fall. They’d served him well. There was a measure of protection that he could offer them that others couldn’t however. Grabbing one of the iron daggers that rested nearby, Aoren took a seat on the floor of his room.
