Sunset Falls Evening

Skae had been stalking the horse for quite sometime now, almost half a day to be precise. This particular kind of meal, she knew, required a great deal of patience and time. Horses were well known for their lightning reflexes and frightening ground traversal speeds. Thus, she would get one chance at this, just one. Stealth and agility were the key in this particular challenge. It would test the entire one hundred and forty years or so of hunting experience she had accumulated over time to catch and devour this creature. Her mind had been set as soon as she lay eyes upon the magnificent beast. She was hungry, very hungry and nothing would stop her from obtaining what was rightfully her’s. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her blood, the thrill of the hunt filling her from snout to tail.

Moonlight refracted from her scales causing her normally brown skin to take on a deep, silvery hue as her long body slithered carefully and quietly through the thicket. A crunch of leaves and sticks sounded off to her far left. It was enough to alert her prey, it’s ears pricked up in alarm. The anaconda froze among the brushes, still as a lifeless corpse, if she wasn’t careful she could lose everything here and now. By Caiyha, another predator? She grimaced. Time was against her now, she would need to claim her kill quickly.

Thankfully the horse remained, she didn’t believe in luck but it seemed as if it were on her side today. The spooked horse trotted a little further forward, lowering it’s head to sniff at something on the ground. She saw the window of chance narrowing before her, body instinctively coiling, poised to strike. The Dhani’s head lurched back, ready to spring forth, on to her helpless victim. She was stopped dead in her tracks by a blood curdling howl followed by a brief flash of light. Skae recognized the cry. Wolves… The pang of instinctive fear passed quickly, replaced by cold, assessing calculations. She could handle a wolf or two with little to no problem, she knew, but a pack of the beasts could turn out to be a very different story.

Snapping out of her thoughts she could see the horse had disappeared entirely, in it’s place, a human male stood, naked as his name day. She paused, dumbfounded, then it hit her like a rock. Ah… Kelvic… She mused, disappointed in missing out on a good meal. Skae had no idea Kelvics branched out this far south-east. She had met a few in Taldera, one had even saved her life, but that was the past, no use reliving it. Skae watched the male make his way toward a pool with observant eyes, a waterfall cascading from the rocks above and crashing in to the calm below. Another figure stood by the banks of the pool, a female with long, flowing, silvery hair. Another Kelvic?... It was almost as if her thoughts were answered as the two embraced in some sort of strange, intimate ritual. Skae peered on from the brush, barely able to hide her immense size.

In a time long past she would have sprang from the bushes, using fear as her weapon, creating panic and seizing the moment to strike at one while the other presumably fled in terror. It was a good plan that had worked many times before but those days were over. She couldn’t risk attacking them in their human forms so close to the walls of Syliras, even if she had wanted to. Besides, these Kelvics may have had good relationships with the Humans within the city, if one escaped it could spell bad news for Skae. The Dhani lay there in the bushes for some time as the two conversed between one another. She decided to experiment, it had been awhile since she had any kind of communication with anything other than Human, she may not get another chance like this for a good long time. Perhaps, if she was lucky, she could get the two to separate, maybe dinner wasn’t entirely off the table.

It didn’t take long for her body to shift and mold itself. When the transformation was complete she stood from the bushes in human form, just as naked as the two before her, purposefully making a lot of noise as she did so. It looked as if the male was about to burst into a sprint. Skae stepped out in front, the night breeze ruffling her hair, cold, emerald green eyes piercing his gentle brown. “What a fine night for a ssstroll don’t you think?”

NoteI will be lightly controlling Nikia until she comes back, and will then confirm things with her if she does. I hope she has not left, but anyway, this should do for now.

The Horse Kelvic stopped as a new voice swept around the fall entrance towards the animal pair, his body tense. Air rushed out of his nose, making a low snorting sound, a ‘what’s that?’ He had not seen anyone else, though he did have an angelic being to distract him. The way her hair flowed around her face, which now was contorted into a look of predatory malice, was simply mesmerizing. He fixed his gaze on the woman warily. She was heartily built with strong, broad shoulders and a thick torso, but did not look that strong. They were about the same height, if he was to judge at this distance. No weapons were in her hands, in fact she was as naked as they were. He relaxed, pretty sure that she was not an immediate threat to them. Though why she was out here at this time of night was odd indeed. Must humans went back to their tiny abodes when the moon rose, and certainly did not wander the woods naked.

“Yes it is, miss” “What are you doing here?” the Prey and Predator responded after they had both exchanged their assessments of her with a glance and quirk of their eyebrows. What a weird pattern of speech this woman had, maybe an accent or something? Probably from the north, they had stocky people there, right? Or maybe a few teeth missing, causing a lisp, though she did not look very old. Beodan sniffed the air. Odd. Another, echoed this time by his new-found companion. He cocked his head. Very odd. He had not smelled something like this before, so subtle, and yet glaringly evident, like a silver coin among coppers. Not out of place necessarily, just different. Still, something about it did not sit right with him.

“Are you lost, miss? Do you need help?” he asked cautiously, but not wanting to potentially offend the woman by ignoring the human custom of greetings. Nikia took a step forward in a slightly protective gesture, her arm in front of his chest. Her eyes wanted answers.

Sunset Falls Evening

Skae had a good look at the male Kelvic, now that he was a few strides in front of her. He stood at roughly the same height as herself with a similar sturdy, yet not overly muscular frame. He had powerful looking thigh and calf muscles, clearly built for speed as opposed to fighting. One look was enough to tell her she would never be able to catch up to him if he had decided to suddenly flee there and then, horse or not. A great, white scar traveled a good length of his abdomen. If Skae hadn’t shed her skin so often, she too would have been home to a myriad of scars.

She allowed him to do the same, watching like the predator she was as his eyes traced the outline of her physique. The Kelvic seemed more curious than frightened, something that rarely happened among other such creatures. Normally her gaze alone would have been enough to send most prey into an unsettling fit of nerves.

“Yes it is, miss” “What are you doing here?”

A smirk slowly began to form on her lips, despite the constant hunger gnawing at her belly, she was always in the mood for games. Skae found herself salivating, thus she had to physically swallow before opening her mouth to speak. “What am I doing here? …I could cccertainly ssay the sssame about you… Isss there ever any harm in taking a ssstroll at night?” She lied, a playful tone on her tongue.

Something appeared from behind to stand in between them. A human, female, her hand outstretched somewhat protectively. Skae’s eyes quickly worked over her form, always assessing. A frail, weak looking thing, yet her posture said otherwise. Blue eyes, icy cold, much like hers, much like… a predator. It all added up quite quickly. That howl from before… the wolf… she grimaced. If that were the case then her previous conclusions would have been true. Something did not add up, however. Was this a stand off between predators and their right to claim a meal or, was it something else? She thought it best to find out.

“A friend of yours?”

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Nikia on July 20th, 2015, 7:15 am

Nikia loves the feeling of Dan's hand running through her hair. After he, seemingly, desperately pulled her close to him. I wonder if the feelings I'm having is the bond forming. The bond my mother spoke about when she met my father. Curiously, she thought seeking the answer in a faded memory, but none given. Nikia removes her arms from his chest and wrapped them around his waist. Holding him close as he did her. She felt secure. Assuming her feeling for him were mutual. Thinking, happily, that she'd finally found someone to care about and be with. Being alone was hard for Nikia. Something she wouldn't wish on anyone.

Before Nikia could enjoy her moments with Dan, on their run, they were interrupted by an unexpected visitor. She knew something wasn't right. Slightest movements came from the darkness that put Nikia in protective mode. She sniffed the air as she looked around in high alert. The scent was faint. Then a young women stepped out from the mist behind the trees. Nikia's eyes narrowed in her. Where did she come from? She asked, confused. As the women took another step closer, her fragrance finally came to Nikia's senses. Why didn't I smell her before? She thought once more. Her mind full of questions.

When the women spoke, Nikia knew what she was. A snake. The creatures her father warned her about when she was young. "Always be in your guard, Nikia. Make no mistake." Her father informed her. Putting his words in the back of her mind, Nikia stretched her right arm across Dan's chest, without hesitation. Protecting him. Not knowing this women's story, she was unable to jump to any conclusions. At least, for the time being. Nikia looked to at Dan, knowing he knew something was a bit off. She then focuses her attention back on the new comer. Assuming her last words were meant for Nikia. "Yes. He is." She replies as a matter-of-fact.

"State your business." Nikia demanded with a harsh tone in her voice. The young kelvic's body took a stance of the dominant predator before a fight. Much like the wolf within her saw her father do in the past with strangers. Her left arm hung by her side with her fist clenched. Both her legs equally apart ready for action. Her torso strong facing the stranger with broadened shoulders. Nikia's icy blue eyes solely on the female as if prepared for an attack. Her silver-white hair swaying across her face uncontrollably. The kelvic remained still waiting for her answer. "What is your name?"

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 20th, 2015, 10:09 pm

The Horse Kelvic positively glowed at Nikia’s defense of him. She cared about him. He steeled himself. If it came to a fight he would stand by her, instinct to run be damned! Though he still hoped it would not. For all they knew, this could be some demon taking the form of a human that saw them as easy prey. This could turn bad quickly. His heart beat faster, his muscles aching to do something. To run, to fight, anything! He closed his eyes for a moment in an attempt to calm himself, then stepped forward so he was almost standing even with her, only barred by her guarding arm.

Nikia took charge, her voice steady as the rocks they stood on as she demanded answers. Beodan was sure that if it was him that was locked in the icy gaze of a she wolf, he would fall to his knees and stay there, paralyzed. Downright scary, that’s what it was! He was glad she called him a friend, not foe. Though he had not verbalized it, he felt the same way. If no demons had eaten their souls before the night was out, he would like to spend much more time with her.

If one were to attempt to cut the air with a sharp knife at this moment, Dan did not doubt that they would succeed with all the tension that was spread thick in the air. He grinned ruefully in his mind. This was the opposite of a normal relaxing trip to the falls! He did not know what to do in this sort of situation but run, so he did his best to copy Nikia’s expression, poorly, and fixed his gaze on the stranger.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Verinskae on July 21st, 2015, 11:45 am

So they are together then... Companions, family, perhaps something more... Intimate?... she pondered, watching as the female took on a more, aggressive posture. The smirk returned. It had been a while since she truly had any fun. Dinner may have been placed off the table, for now, but there was never any harm in a little self entertainment, was there?

Skae ignored the silver-haired youths former question, taking a few, tenacious steps forward, her bare feet crunching softly against the dry leaves. She decided to answer the latter of the questions. "You may call me Ssskae..." The Dhani hissed in reply. "...but one doesss not give a thing without getting another..." She gestured toward the she-wolf, taking another few strides in advance.

Skae stopped, suddenly, in front of the male Kelvic, barely a hair widths apart, the hot air from their lungs mixing in the cool night's wind. All she needs is a little push, then it will all happen by itself... she mused, deviously. Skae pressed herself up against the male Kelvic, their bodies brushing lightly against one another. She threw a strong, gripping arm around his torso, her hand coiling slowly up his spine. She traced the outline of his abdomen with an index finger. Her tongue lolled from her mouth and licked the side of the male's face. Mmm... Salt, sweat with a dash of confusion and anxiety... Just the way I like it...

Skae peered into the Kelvic's dark eyes, they were strangely enticing. The world seemed to dissolve around them. His body was surprisingly warm and after a few moments of taking in his scent, she found herself oddly yearning for more. Her heart raced faster, her pulse quickened, she felt a great magnet pulling her forward, ever closer to the Kelvic's eyes, his snout, his lips. It has been a very, very long time… he isn’t particularly unattractive... She snapped her head back, dizzyingly. By Caiyha’s name... What was that?.. Confused, unsettled and slightly exasperated, she pushed herself away, creating a small space between them, her arm still gripping firmly around his body.

Skae thought she had left all such nonsensical notions back at Falyndar. Such things got you killed, quick. Did she truly feel attraction to this... This midnight snack? The very thought made her sick to her stomach. Skae swallowed the thought and fixated her gaze on the wolf. Had she noticed that momentary spurt of... weakness? It was very brief and Skae was very good at concealment, but predators missed nothing. She felt confidence returning, along with her taunting smirk. Waiting, watching patiently. Now, how will she react?...

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Nikia on July 22nd, 2015, 5:28 am

With Dan standing so close to Nikia, she could feel his rapid heartbeat against her arm. She wanted desperately to show concern for him, but didn't want to take her eyes off the new comer, Skae. Seconds later, she couldn't resist the urge to check on him. Nikia felt the change in heart rate started to slow down and saw that he was calming himself. Good. He's alright. She thought, hopefully. Showing her excitement within herself, but none to the surface as to not get herself distracted from the situation on hand. Skae. Nikia narrowed her focus on her. Carefully watching her every move. If it came down to it, the wolf would be able to take care of her. Nikia had faith in her ability to protect herself and the ones she cared about, but without much combat experience, she would have to try twice as hard.

The women gave Nikia her name, but didn't understand what she meant by that last part. One does not give a thing without getting another. The words echoed through out her mind with no idea of what she meant. It puzzled Nikia. When Skae moved closer, the wolf became more defensive of Dan. Her body stiffened and muscles tighten. She studied Skae as she advanced her steps closer, closing the gab between her and Nikia.

Anger and jealousy boiled in the wolf's blood when the snake was close to Dan. Touching him and grabbing him like they were together. Nikia could feel like she was losing control of herself. She observed everything Skae had done to him. Acting like she owned him. Toying with him at her disposal. The kelvic's body shuttered when Skae's tongue glided across Dan's face. What Nikia saw and could see was turning red. The anger within her began to consume everything she had.

By this time, Nikia wasn't protecting Dan. He wasn't even behind her anymore. She lowered her arm, slowly, as she was peering down at the rocks all three of them stood on. Half of her face covered by the bangs of her hair. Focusing on her thoughts trying to collect herself. You want to play? Fine. Lets play. She thought, deviously. Grinning at the thought of herself ripping Skae's throat out in one swift move. Showing her Nikia's true dominance.

The moon's face reflected in the kelvic's eyes as she lifts her head to face Skae dead on. Only half an arms length away from each other, both females stood. Nikia was quiet. From the size of Skae's body, Nikia wouldn't be able to hold her for long. Especially with the lack of combat skills. So Nikia thought about what her next move should be, carefully. If she couldn't take her on while in human form then she'd have to shift and take her in wolf form. That was only as a last resort.

"I'm only going to say this once and once only. So listen carefully." Nikia said as she took one step closer to Skae. Then continued, "Step away from him, now.." She told her as calmly as she could, despite her look for blood lust. Nikia could see Dan in the corner of her eye, but paid no attention to him. Her heavy breathing made its way to becoming more steady. With the coldness in the air brushing itself against Nikia, hugging her body, felt good to her. Especially with her adrenaline coursing through her veins and her body temperature rising. Waiting, preparing herself for what Skea may do next. After all, she is a snake.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 22nd, 2015, 4:43 pm

“Skae?” the Horse Kelvic mused quietly to himself as the newly identified person approached, her feet padding lazily towards him. He worked on memorizing the name, but was stopped as his subconscious set off alarm bells. She was getting awfully close now, he could make out individual hairs on her head and the groves of her lip. She continued until she was almost standing on his feet, their eyes inches from each other, his nervous brown eyes reflecting powerful emerald ones. She did not seem to want to hurt him, but strangers were unpredictable. Especially ones that wandered the woods at night! Her close proximity was making him anxious.

As if prompted by his thoughts, she escalated once more. Skae closed the already minuscule gap between them and snaked her arm around his back. He took a small step back, surprised, but found that her embraces was iron. So he stood still and tried to relax. Her fingers danced over his waist and back, tracing slow, meaningless patterns. She grazed his side, and a shiver shot up his spine. He had always wondered what the purpose of that spot was and this had done nothing to assuage his curiosity. Their body heat mingled, taking away a bit of the night air’s chill, though she was slightly cooler than he was.

Then, things got a little confusing. Skae’s lips parted to allow her tongue to act freely. Their bodies were entwined so closely that it already touched his cheek. The softly barbed surface pressed against his face, just off of his mouth, and licked upwards to almost his brow-line. He inhaled sharply, a blush lighting up his cheeks. A horses mother would lick their child, but in general two close horses would lick and softly bite each other to bond through grooming. It sent all sorts of thoughts through his head, and even more questions. Does she want to be really close friends, or something more? She is not my mother. That was not possible, right? They had just met, and they had already accumulated this close of a relationship? Should he respond in kind?

All of these thoughts ran around in his mind, scrambling over each other to be focused on consciously. Thus his momentary confusion. He snapped back to reality as the world seemed to close off, the background fading away until they stood together in an empty void. Her emerald eyes seemed to sparkle ever like the gemstones that aptly described their color. The placed deep in his chest that caused him so much pain seemed to become a great force of attraction, her scent becoming intoxicating. His mind shut off, literally lost in her eyes in a sea with large, crashing waves of emotion. And then his small world was ripped apart as she distanced herself from him. A dagger was firmly buried in his chest, her rejection made tangible. The attracting force once again turned into a festering bundle of pain. He closed his eyes and choked on his breath.

Beodan was vaguely aware of voices around him, but he could not understand, or at least chose not to. He tentatively opened his eyes through the phantom hurt, and found that the world had not crumbled away as he had first thought.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Verinskae on July 23rd, 2015, 12:21 pm

Ah... I've hit a soft spot she thought, amusingly. The wolf's posture had changed again, she looked ready to fight. The air around them charged with tension. So intense was the female Kelvic's palpable fury that it could almost be touched. Skae was certain she caught a glimpse of a grin amongst the silver drapes. Ha! So, she enjoys this as much as I do, something's never change...

The two predators stood staring at one another, their eyes coldly assessing the opposition. The warm blooded mammal didn't look too strong, but fast, agile and quite possibly dextrous. All traits of her canine counterpart, she was sure. Teeth... I need to watch out for the teeth... One precise bite to the throat, that's all it would take. It was fortunate Skae knew about their killing methods. Just keep those teeth at bay... she pondered, cautiously.

If She could get a good grip on the she-wolf, it would be all over. She doubted the Kelvic had the strength to escape her constricting grasp. If its a fight this wolf desires, then a fight she shall have...

The atmosphere around them seemed to shimmer. The forest fell silent, either from anticipation of the event unfolding, or fear of being in it's path. Seconds passed, possibly even minutes, time flowed all the same in moments like these.

Skae was a little taken back, she was sure the wolf would be the first to strike. The victor was usually determined by the first to initiate, after all. So, she's the careful, thinking type, a dangerous opponent indeed... Or, perhaps just hesitant?... She would soon find out.

Skae pushed the male forcefully aside and took a few, confident strides toward the she-wolf. She paused, looking her adversary up and down. Then it came, out of nowhere, a jab, quick and powerful, aimed at the Kelvic's stomach in an attempt to catch her off guard, possibly winding her in the process. An opening, if even a small one, was all that she needed.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Nikia on July 24th, 2015, 9:04 am

Time seemed to be standing still for Nikia as if it had stopped. Or so that's what it felt like. The night sky seemed to be faintly disappearing on the horizon, but still covered the forest like a blanket with stars. The moon continued to stand strong, until it was time to say goodbye, still shinning brightly as its shedding light over the opening to the Falls. Exposing its serenity the Falls had to offer. Everything seemed to be setting in its place.

The wind continued to rush through the forest trees like an ocean wave crashing against the rocks of a cliff. Hitting everything that stood in its path. Nikia's eyes began exposing the intensity and anger she felt towards Skae. Much like the wind brushing around them. Her heart racing, as it had been for sometime, feeling like it would never stop. She anticipated the women's next move, but was caught off guard when she pushed Dan out of her way. No words slipped from the kelvic's lips as it was already shown from her actions. She extended her arm out to reach for Dan, but left herself open.

Nikia instantly felt the impact of Skae's blow to the stomach. She became winded, leaving a second shot open for her opponent. The wolf dropped to her knees before she could doge the first strike, holding her stomach in pain. Why did I leave myself open like that? She questioned as she tried to find her breath. All she could think about was her father giving her a look of disapproval. One more mistake would all it would take. Without hesitation, Nikia lifted her left hand over her face and caught Skae's second strike just as she did when she trained with her father. "I'm not making the same mistake twice." She muttered to the women as she slowly lifted her head up to see Skae kneeling in front her.

Still holding her stomach with her right arm, Nikia grabbed Skae's fist and pulled her down. Leaving an opening for the wolf to strike. The kelvic quickly stumbled backwards and gave the women's face her best shot of a right hook. Then retreated her arm to its original position leaving her left to defend. "Bitch." Was all Nikia managed to say as she slowly regained her breath.
