Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Baked Goods?

40th of Summer, 515AV
1st Bell, Afternoon
Alements

The Summer heat was excruciating, but Sezkero hardly minded it. Truthfully, she wouldn't have minded spending her day stretched out by the river to allow her scales to soak up the warm sun, but the cold-blooded Iyvess had better things to do with her time.

Like, for example, actually showing up for Caelum. So the snake found herself looking at the metal handle of Alement's once more. The debate in her head was not longer nerves convincing her to turn around and retreat to her tiny apartment, but instead the snake was judging how much the metal would burn her hand when she gripped it. It was too early in the afternoon for the Tavern to be open to many night-goers, as most people were at work. If anyone was there, perhaps they would be having a would looked at or a sip of tea, so now what the best time, at least she thought so.

Taking a deep breath, the snake flicked her hand out to grip the knob, swinging it open with unnecessary force in fear of burning her hand. Of course the metal was not excruciatingly hot, but the snake let go of it quickly, her imagination taking over for her senses. Small feet brought her quickly into the main room of the establishment and Sezkero flinched as the door slammed close behind her, bouncing in its hinges from the force of her swing. Perhaps not so loud of an entrance next time. Sezkero scolded herself, brushing her palms on her skirt once before taking a few more steps into the room.

"Caelum?" The snake hissed out, weaving through the tables to reach the bar. The barely five foot woman had to climb one of the high chairs to get a good view over the counter. There was not utterly gorgeous face of the immortal man to greet her, instead the snake found herself staring into the blue eyes of a Svefra. The snake squinted for almost a tick before she was able to put a name to the mustache. Hoisting herself properly on the barstool, greeting the man. "Maddoch." Sezkero gave him a convincingly friendly grin, a sharp contrast of pointed pearls to her deep olive skin.

Baked Goods?

For all the strange and whimsical excursions he’d been in on these past few weeks, today was a relatively slow and lazy day for the ethaefal. He had neglected his duties to Caelum and the Alements for a while, and though he considered it trivial and tedious work, he knew better than to toss away the only opportunity he had to gain the mizas he needed for other ventures. Here, at least, it was familiar, and it was not a stranger he worked for, but an acquaintance, perhaps, even a friend.

And so he arrived at the respectable establishment in his casual ensemble: leather pants, dyed, linen shirt and polished leather boots. He donned the black apron and promptly took the orders of the few sparse patrons scattered throughout the main floor. With Elise mixing the drinks in the back, it was a rather efficient work before they were left in relative peace and quiet as one by one the patrons had their fill of mead and ventured off.

It was relatively peaceful, and the svefra man wiped down the remaining table before he sauntered behind the bar counter. The glassware had been brought back from washing by the woman, and he picked up a hand towel to begin drying them. The salty breeze drifted through the cracks in the windows and mingled with the scent of the flora that encompassed a portion of the decorations.

The slam of the door startled the svefra, and the glass fumbled in his hands before he managed to steady it on the counter. With a heavy exhale, he glanced up at the intrusion, his eyes narrowed. “Who the petch—“ He paused and stared at the short, unassuming woman who had entered, his brows furrowed. Oddly familiar, he mused, prying through the repository of memories for a name.

“You’re that girl from before,” he finally said. “Sessgayro, or some such?” He went back to his slow, methodical drying of the glasses. “You’re looking for Caelum, I’m assuming.” He glanced over his shoulder. Elise had gone off somewhere. How terribly convenient.

“I haven’t seen him today. Can I… get you anything?” He offered her a rare crooked smile.
